Fights in tight spaces è un rogue-like a turni tattici basato su carte ben realizzato e che soddisfarà gli amanti del genere. Manca di carattere, sia in termini visivi che narrativi, ma compensa con un sistema di combattimento intrigante e impegnativo quanto basta. Ottima la possibilità di scegliere tra molteplici livelli di difficoltà, così da giocare in modo rilassato o con una spada di Damocle sulla testa a seconda del nostro gusto. La progressione è rapida, inoltre, quindi si sbloccano novità rapidamente.

En misant sur du combat multijoueur aérien à dos de dragon, Century of Ashes dépoussière le genre et prouve qu'un free-to-play peut être ambitieux. Visuellement superbe et doté d'une excellente direction artistique, il n'est qu'à l'aube de sa carrière, mais profite de modes plaisants, de personnages charismatiques et de dragons majestueux. Sans pousser à l'achat, le jeu compte sur sa communauté pour se développer et l'avenir semble si prometteur qu'on a envie de suivre son parcours avec attention.

A Short Hike, lo sottolinea anche il titolo, non è un'opera mastodontica. In pochi ci si approccerebbero con l'intento di trovare un prodotto vasto e variegato. Sicuramente la sua natura contenuta (anche se non esente da svariate sbavature, che vanno da incertezze narrative a poca confidenza nell'efficacia del proprio operato) riesce a salvarne lo statuto di avventura generazionale, dedicata a chi è maturato e a chi ha ancora tutto il tempo del mondo per crescere. Forse, alla fin fine, è proprio la corta durata dell'avventura il punto di forza del gioco che, anche se non in grado di narrare una storia individuale forte e strutturata, riesce a raccontare quella di una collettività riconoscibile e genuina, i cui incontri fugaci si allontanano e sbiadiscono dietro a imperscrutabili banchi di nebbia, man mano che continuiamo la nostra breve scalata lungo le pendici esistenziali dell'essere.

Archvale is a fantastic genre hybrid, easily merging the shooter and RPG elements together to create a ridiculously playable adventure. The difficulty level always feels right on the verge of being hard without actually crossing the line too often, and even if a boss encounter requires several attempts, another chance starting from full health at the save point is right nearby. It’s an inviting level of difficulty that pushes you to be faster, zipping through the bullets with a well-timed dash while throwing the firepower back using whatever options you’ve created with the current loadout. Even if things feel a little much there’s generally somewhere else to explore or a new weapon to craft, and usually a small change is all it takes to get back on track again. Archvale focuses on intense fantasy-RPG shooting action and giving the player all the tools necessary to handle it their way, and the result is a game that’s next to impossible to put down until the last arch stone is collected and even then maybe not. There’s never a bad time to test out Hardcore mode’s bigger maps and denser bullet patterns, after all.

Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! spreca un comparto grafico fedelissimo e colorato - al netto di qualche animazione poco curata - per un gameplay banale e poco ispirato. La campagna è lunga e ripetitiva, non ci sono modalità di gioco alternative e il sistema di combattimento soffre un bilanciamento discutibile che si trasforma spesso in un esercizio di frustrazione. Peccato, perché il titolo Mr. Nutz Studio aveva tutte le carte in regola per essere un gran bel picchiaduro a scorrimento, e invece è solo l'ennesimo Asterix deludente nella sfortunata carriera videoludica dell'eroe Gallico, consigliato solo ai fan sfegatati di Uderzo e Goscinny.

I’m a pretty patient guy when it comes to trying out new gaming experiences, but Drizzlepath: Déjà vu is just simply not very interesting at all. A walking sim without any of the intrigue or interesting tales and scenarios, even achievement hunters might want to think twice about adding this to their list.
