Environnement graphique ou sonore charmant, énigmes évolutives, inventives, aussi retorses que bien pensées et générosité de contenu sont autant d'atouts à attribuer à Bonfire Peaks. Si le jeu se montre assez avare en informations sur certaines mécaniques qu'il faudra apprendre à la dure et dont on peine parfois à comprendre la logique, qu'il pèche parfois dans l'appréciation de certaines perspectives, il n'en reste pas moins une expérience agréable et complète, à même de contenter les fans de jeux de réflexion à l'ancienne au risque peut-être de laisser sur le bord du chemin les autres.

Bonfire Peaks è un'esperienza dal messaggio di fondo importante: liberarsi dei nostri fardelli passati per poter guardare al futuro. Gli oltre duecento rompicapi che lo costituiscono, non tutti obbligatori per raggiungere la fine, hanno un livello di sfida crescente che mette ben alla prova le nostre meningi ma alcune mancanze nel game design rendono il gioco più pesante di quanto avrebbe potuto essere: l'assenza di una telecamera a trecentosessanta gradi, in primis, seguita da un'inutile macchinosità nel gestire le casse, inficiano la altrimenti fluida progressione dei puzzle - che va comunque commisurata alla capacità del singolo. Non è un gioco per tutti ma merita la sua occasione.

A Juggler’s Tale is almost the game it thinks it is, peaking at the potential highs of a narratively-complex side-scroller with a unique twist on how you engage with the world around you. In falling short the way it does it won’t leave you entirely wanting, there is fun to be had and wonders to marvel at in its beautiful world. But a limited runtime and unrealised script make Abby’s quest for freedom a little too caught up in its own strings.

Rogue Lords réussit le pari le plus compliqué dans son domaine : devenir addictif. Si le principe de rogue-like est toujours risqué, car il demande un investissement de la part des joueurs, le titre de Cyanide Leikir Studio y parvient avec ses mécaniques réussies. On apprend de nos erreurs, puis on réfléchit aux meilleures combinaisons de compétences pour être le plus létal possible et dans un maximum de situations possibles. La frustration est faible dans le sens ou chaque mort est utile via les récompenses d’expérience. Si le titre n’est pas une claque graphique, il dispose d’un charme qui fera fondre les amoureux du genre. Bref, on aime se balader dans cet univers, découvrir les animations de nos nouveaux disciples (en combat seulement), écouter l'OST envoûtante de jeu et l’histoire narrée par notre diabolique narrateur.

Rogue Lords ci ha letteralmente stregati. Le dinamiche di gioco si sono rivelate tanto stratificate quanto divertenti, perfette per qualsiasi amante di roguelike che si rispetti. Alcune idee particolarmente azzeccate è un riuscito stile visivo spiccatamente gotico infondono carisma all'intera produzione. Peccato solo per una marcata ripetitività di fondo che a lungo andare potrebbe stancare ben più di qualche giocatore. Insomma, un titolo stratificato e interessante che, pur nei suoi limiti, meriterebbe di essere preso in considerazione da tutti i fan del genere.

The idea that ACE Team’s less-appealing efforts are those that feel too conformed to expectation best surmises why The Eternal Cylinder is as successful a new IP for the Chilean studio as it is. For all the team’s expertise on the weird, the fact that this visual identity is far from the intended appeal should give you an idea at just how well the mechanics and overall reaction to such interlocking systems plays out. Most of which left to the player’s own imagination with how best to utilize said tools and similarly-spoken scenarios. But not for a second do ACE Team view an otherwise absence of comprehension as an automatic fail-state. Yet at the same time, managing to burrow enough of a temptation that failure in that regard will almost always be by the player’s own curious, sometimes greedy, hand. That level of confidence but more so lenience in its concept — an understanding on when and how survival mechanics can be implemented without feeling tedious or invasive — in the end is what makes The Eternal Cylinder as fascinating an adventure to decipher as it is to watch unfold with bated breath.
