Souls-like games have never been my thing, so I was a little apprehensive going into Tails of Iron as I have had to wave the white flag before. But I am glad I took on the challenge because Tails of Iron’s mix of medieval storybook art, Souls-inspired combat and Geralt of Rivia’s voice makes for an incredible experience – one of the best of the year.

Même si Tails of Iron a quelques défauts, à commencer par ses allers-retours et son système de combat qui manque d'évolution, le titre est tout simplement charmant. Aidée par sa panoplie de personnages charismatiques, ses visuels somptueux et ses combats réussis demandant précisions et coordinations, la création d'Odd Bug Studio offre un magnifique voyage que l'on ne peut que vous conseiller… tout du moins, si la difficulté ne vous effraie pas.

Tails of Iron, pur presentandosi come un soulslike bidimensionale di facile lettura, prende subito una strada tutta sua, che ne smussa la struttura ruolistica senza rendere scialbo il gameplay. Al contrario, rinunciare scientemente alla barra della stamina e allo sviluppo diretto del protagonista, pone grossa enfasi sugli ottimi combattimenti, sempre serrati e impegnativi, ma mai frustranti. La riuscitissima direzione artistica, a metà tra un diorama e un libro pop up per bambini, si mescola a una ferocia e una crudezza inattesi, capaci di sorprendere e tratteggiare un racconto forte e maturo, anche attraverso la voce del solo narratore. Escluso qualche giro di troppo nella parte iniziale dell'avventura, Tails of Iron offre un mondo di gioco poco propenso all'esplorazione (comunque presente), concentrandosi su un combat system riuscito e viscerale, violento ma mai gratuito. Nella sua bolla antropomorfica, il gioco di Odd Bug Studio racchiude un universo duro, crudele e un'esperienza degna di essere vissuta.

While SkateBIRD has plenty of frustrations, there's enough fun here to make it worth your time. Just don't expect Pro Skater levels of polish and you'll probably be fine (Review Policy)

There’s something great about being able to turn on a game for one or two hours at a time and just smile and jam out. SkateBIRD gives you the chance to channel your inner Tony Hawk in the most adorable and fun five-to-seven hour arcade style experience that I’ve played in a while. It’s a simple game about a birb trying to help out their Big Friend by skating their little heart out, what isn’t there to like?
