As of right now, Death’s Door is definitely in the running for my game of the year, probably at the top spot. I think it will appeal to many other gamers as well. A wonderful action-exploration adventure filled with humor and bizarre characters, all taking place in a fairy-talesque land with a gorgeous low-poly aesthetic. If this has even slightly caught your attention ahead of launch, you should pick it up. I hope Acid Nerve will expand this IP because they’ve made something special here. I’d love to see it continue.

Da hat die Xbox einen richtig tollen Titel, um den sie PlayStation- und Switch-Besitzer beneiden. Death’s Door hat im Vorfeld keinen großen Staub aufgewirbelt, ist aber ein ebenso hochwertiges wie charmantes Videospiel, das eure größtmögliche Aufmerksamkeit verdient. Die Grafik ist ausgesprochen hübsch, an vielen Stellen wirkt die Welt wie ein bildschönes, hochaufgelöstes, interaktives Diorama mit butterweichem Scrolling. Meine Krähe nutzt geschickt die verschiedenen Fernattacken, entdeckt mit ihrer Hilfe eine Vielzahl von Abkürzungen und entlockt dem nur scheinbar leeren Land seine Geheimnisse. Dazu gibt es taktisch anspruchsvolle, aber nie unfaire Kämpfe. Hier weht eine gehörige Prise 2D-Zelda durch den Äther, Death’s Door variiert das bewährte Konzept aber so ansprechend, dass man ihm nie böse sein kann. Mit dem Suchen nach dem Weg ohne Karte habe ich nach einer Weile meinen Frieden gemacht, manch kleine Geschichte eines Begleiters ließ mich schmunzeln – für meinen Geschmack hätten es sogar noch ein paar mehr lustige Begegnungen sein dürfen. Den Sprung in noch höhere Regionen verhindern das sehr biedere Auflevelsystem und die Tatsache, dass sich kleinere Bausteine der großen Aufgaben mehrfach wiederholen – trotzdem ist Death’s Door ein von vorn bis hinten sehr angenehmes, rundes Erlebnis, das den Vorgänger Titan Souls deutlich hinter sich lässt.

Solasta: Crown of the Magister è il gioco perfetto per gli amanti di Dungeons & Dragons e dei giochi di ruolo classici. Se vi piace l'idea di crearvi un party e di gestirlo davvero come volete, magari mentre affrontate i pericoli di un mondo fantasy pieno di luoghi da visitare e creature da cui farsi mangiare, allora è davvero il gioco giusto per voi. Peccato solo per la pochezza narrativa della campagna principale, che si limita a proporre un canovaccio a cui incollare situazioni di gioco ed eventi. Spiace anche per il lato tecnico, non proprio al top, sia dal punto di vista prettamente grafico, sia da quello stilistico. Ci vorrebbe proprio un Solasta 2 per rimediare a questi difetti.

L’idea alla base di AKIBA’S TRIP è sfiziosa e divertente, ma se nel 2011 il prodotto poteva funzionare pur con tutte le sue lacune e i limiti imposti dall’hardware di PSP, lo stesso non si può dire per la sua riedizione. Quella realizzata da Acquire è infatti una remastered solo di nome, non a caso il prodotto ha conservato tutti i suoi storici problemi tecnici, come ad esempio la cattiva gestione della telecamera, l’impreciso sistema di puntamento, i lentissimi tempi di risposta dei comandi, le animazioni farraginose, e così via. L’aver portato la risoluzione a 1080p e la fluidità garantita dai granitici 60 fps, quindi, non giustificano minimamente le gravose imperfezioni del titolo, che siamo convinti avrebbe meritato un remake completo e quantomeno l’implementazione delle meccaniche proposte qualche anno fa dal suo sequel. Se i fan della saga non potranno esimersi dall’accogliere in collezione anche AKIBA’S TRIP: Hellbound & Debriefed, gli altri farebbero meglio ad astenersi: ci saranno altre occasioni per strappare i vestiti ai nemici.

Where The Heart Leads è un videogioco narrativamente valido, ma che non riesce mai a spiccare rispetto all'agguerrita concorrenza. Pecca principalmente di una cura approssimativa dei dettagli e di una longevità non necessaria, con un finale che sembra comunque affrettato e raffazzonato, raccontato più attraverso i documenti che le immagini; tutti elementi che non riescono a valorizzare le vicende raccontate. Ammirabile l'ambizione di proporre un titolo così ampio e fortemente incentrato sulla rilevanza delle scelte svolte dal giocatore, ma, finita l'avventura, sembra mancare comunque quella spinta che porti a rigiocare il titolo una seconda volta per vedere in che modo possano mutare gli eventi. Il che è un peccato perché, nonostante i cliché, la storia sembra genuina, piena di vita vissuta e di esperienze provate sulla pelle. È la messa in scena il vero tallone d'Achille, che sfortunatamente riporta il gioco nel vorticoso dimenticatoio di questo genere così abusato.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD flies far higher than the original Wii version. Most of the game's core issues have been addressed, and the presentation flows much more smoothly on Switch.
