Outriders è un titolo particolare più per la sua atipica costituizione “completa”, una rarità di questi tempi, che per un gameplay dalla manciata di intuizioni interessanti e dalle decine di ispirazioni celebri. È il figlio di una visione coraggiosa per cui, in un mondo di service game, People Can Fly immagina un prodotto dalla lunga durata capace di sostenersi sulle sue gambe – e su quello che arriva, da soli o in compagnia, nel gioco del lancio. Per tanti versi manca di artigianalità, si accontenta di capitalizzare anni di innovazioni nei looter-shooter e investire sulla quantità ma, pur vendendosi con una veste grafica poco “personale” e qualche aspetto grezzo come un sistema di coperture non levigato, è più solido di quanto non dia a vedere.

Cozy Grove is a wonderful, loveable, colorful take and the life-sim genre, with a huge amount to discover spread out over a long period of play. The detailed hand-drawn art gives the game an inviting look, and the use of color to indicate a satisfied bear-ghost or one in need of assistance is a great way to show off the linework. The story progression can require a certain level of patience, but everything is tied in to the idea of Cozy Grove being not just a game but a daily habit, a nice place to visit when you’ve got a few minutes to spare. Whether you focus on story, decorating the island, collecting everything that isn’t nailed down, or some combination of the above, there’s a lot to do on the island of Cozy Grove and all the time needed to get it done. The long passage of time is more a concern for the living than the dead, and hanging out with the ghosts of Cozy Grove is a lovely, chill way to unwind for a few minutes as one day flows into another.

Plus facile à manier et doté d'aptitudes inédites, Abe s'est racheté une conduite avec cette nouvelle version de son exode. Le Mudokon revient en effet dans une aventure répondant aux standards actuels, bourrée de défis et de pièges sadiques à éviter d'une roulade bien placée. À l'image de la disparition des flatulences, notre célèbre pétomane ne lâche pas totalement les gaz, la faute à diverses imprécisions du côté de la maniabilité, de la caméra, mais aussi de l'intelligence artificielle. Soulstorm reste une aventure bien orchestrée aux qualités aussi grandes que la cupidité d'un Glukkon.

Meine anfängliche Langeweile angesichts der sehr simplen Plattformeinlagen wich bald einem regen Interesse an Izzys Geschichte. Die Autorin Rhianna Pratchett, deren bisherige Videospielgeschichten mich kaum überzeugten, schreibt hier so warmherzig und nachvollziehbar von den kleinen und großen Sorgen der Heldin, dass ich stets wissen wollte, wie es mit ihr weitergeht. Auch freuten mich einige kreative Einsätze von Worten, die auch in der deutschen Übersetzung klasse funktionieren. Die Geschichte in der Fantasiewelt kann da nicht ganz mithalten – hier liegt der Fokus mehr auf dem Einsatz der Wortmagie. Mit den gezückten Wörtern Felsbarrieren wegzuzaubern oder meine Heldin unter Wasser schweben zu lassen macht ein bisschen Laune – allerdings kratzen die Spieldesigner hier nur an der Oberfläche, die Mechanik böte da noch deutlich mehr Potenzial. Trotzdem ist Lost Words: Beyond the Page ein sympathisches Abenteuer für kleine Entdecker, die aufgrund der englischen Sprachausgabe vielleicht noch etwas dabei lernen. Mir hat das Spiel dann auch besser gefallen als Typoman, das ebenfalls Plattform-Passagen mit Worträtseln kombinierte.
