At the end of the day, System Shock is the faithful remake of a 30-year-old game, and you can feel that age in every facet of its being. In some ways, this is a tantalising look back at the game that started an entire genre, and if you’ve got the enthusiasm or nostalgia for immersive sims like it, then it’s worth checking out for that alone. However, if you lack that nostalgic connection, then System Shock is more a showcase of how far the genre has come, rather than a spotlight on how well it’s held up. System Shock may have walked so others in the genre could run, but for us, that walk is just a little too slow.

System Shock si erge come un pilastro fondamentale nel settore dei videogiochi, un classico che ha raggiunto lo status di culto e che ora si rivolge a una nuova ondata di appassionati. Questi ultimi avranno l’opportunità di immergersi nel magnifico universo originariamente forgiato da Looking Glass Studios e magnificamente reinterpretato da NightDive Studios. Nonostante alcune minime imperfezioni, la conversione per le console si manifesta estremamente robusta e capace di incontrare il favore degli utenti più raffinati: per coloro che sono alla ricerca di un’esperienza coinvolgente che li trasporti in una realtà alternativa, l’invito è a intraprendere questo viaggio. L’esperienza si rivelerà indimenticabile, senza la benché minima ombra di rimpianto.

Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut (PC) In conclusione, Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut si conferma un capolavoro imperdibile anche su PC. Lo straordinario lavoro di Sucker Punch Productions è stato ulteriormente impreziosito e arricchito per questa release dal porting di altissima qualità ad opera di Nixxes Software. Al netto della discutibile scelta di legare il gioco a PlayStation Network limitando l'accesso ad alcuni contenuti, il titolo si presenta come uno dei migliori porting di sempre, con un comparto tecnico eccellente, un ampio ventaglio di opzioni e ottimizzazioni e un gameplay che si adatta a meraviglia a mouse, tastiera e ai controller più avanzati come il DualSense di PS5. Che scopriate per la prima volta l'opera di SP o appassionati desiderosi di riscoprirlo al massimo del suo splendore, Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut per PC è un acquisto caldamente consigliato che vi terrà incollati allo schermo per decine e decine di ore. Un viaggio indimenticabile in una delle epoche più affascinanti della storia, tra samurai, onore e tradimenti, reso con una cura per i dettagli e un rispetto per il materiale originale che trasudano amore e passione da ogni pixel. Malgré de bonnes idées, Monster Harvest n'a pas réussi à nous faire entrer dans son univers. Entre de multiples bugs ayant rendu l'expérience compliquée et un concept sous-exploité, le jeu aurait peut-être profité de quelques ajouts de plus. Le mélange farming Pokémon-like est tout de même intéressant, en espérant qu'un autre titre saura approfondir le concept. Pour ce qui est de l'aventure, le jeu reste basique et ne prend pas beaucoup de risques. Il reste tout de même divertissant et peut constituer une bonne porte d'entrée pour qui souhaiterait ensuite s'attaquer aux incontournables du genre que sont Harvest Moon et Stardew Valley.

WRATH: Aeon of Ruin is op alle fronten een ode aan de klassiekers van vroeger, behalve op afwerking. Ook op dat vlak lijkt het spel al tientallen jaren oud, want de besturing werkt niet ideaal, de vijanden zijn vaak stupide en het is regelmatig onduidelijk wat het doel is. Toch is hersenloos rondlopen en je wapens legen op vijanden soms vermakelijk.

Una certa affinità con i felini è probabilmente richiesta per apprezzare appieno Little Kitty, Big City, che rappresenta forse il videogioco più completo e strutturato visto finora tra quelli basati sulla "simulazione di gatto". L'idea di muoversi in una città in questo particolare ruolo è allettante, e il mondo di gioco è ben costruito per stimolare l'esplorazione, sebbene la sua estensione sia piuttosto limitata. Forse si sarebbe potuto fare di più per quanto riguarda i controlli e l'esecuzione delle movenze feline, che nei salti in particolare risultano un po' macchinose, ma per i gattari questo gioco potrebbe essere un vero e proprio paradiso. Per tutti gli altri, la leggerezza generale e la longevità non proprio impressionante, anche a fronte del prezzo, potrebbero frenare il potenziale fascino di un titolo che appare perfetto per il Game Pass, un po' meno come acquisto a prezzo pieno.

Red Wings : Aces of the Sky est donc globalement raté sur le fond. Son histoire peine à impliquer le joueur, sa campagne est bien trop répétitive et n'offre qu'un mode multijoueur en local. En revanche, il arrive à se rattraper sur la forme puisque sa maniabilité le rend attractif et permet au joueur de se prendre au jeu. De plus, faire évoluer ses compétences et ses avions vous permet d'avoir la main mise sur le ciel. Visuellement, c'est plutôt réussi pour les avions mais les décors semblent vides.

Indika est un titre difficile à expliquer sans gâcher le plaisir de la découverte. En revanche on peut clairement dire que le titre d'Odd Meter se risque à aborder des thèmes délicats, comme la religion, la maladie mentale ou la rédemption, pour un résultat finalement très satisfaisant dans l'ensemble, même si il aurait mérité une fin mieux écrite. Toujours est-il que Indika est un titre qui invite constamment à voir au-delà des apparences et à s'interroger sur des questions profondes à travers les yeux d'un personnage candide qui découvre le monde et les horreurs qui l'entourent. Une expérience de jeu finalement bien trop courte mais dont on se souviendra.

Ho davvero apprezzato Indika, anche se a volte ho avuto l'impressione che avrei potuto amarlo ancora di più, ma solo perché alcuni limiti pratici di realizzazione sembrano avere in parte ridimensionato le ambizioni degli sviluppatori. Resta comunque un'opera ricca di spunti e di idee profondamente ispirate, che attinge all'arte e alla letteratura russa rielaborandone alcuni dei temi ricorrenti in chiave contemporanea e inserendoli in una cornice che funziona particolarmente bene in un videogioco. Così facendo, riesce a mettere a fuoco con acuta precisione alcune aberrazioni della nostra società, invitandoci a sollevare il velo e a guardarci allo specchio.

Despite an abrupt ending that kept me wanting more closure, INDIKA’s journey, with its different varieties of gameplay, gorgeous if drearily realistic environments while exploring and playful retro pixel art for the mini-game flashbacks, captivated me from beginning to the credit roll. It’s a story of right and wrong, and realizing that doing what’s expected of you through the doctrine of religion doesn’t safeguard you from evil. It raises the question of whether you should resort to turning “evil” yourself then, and whether all acts can even be categorized that way to begin with when looking at basic needs and survival. Are morals universal or merely a human construct? Is religion an absolute truth or a manipulative tool? While I was expecting quite a controversial game, I was happy to find it isn’t all that in-your-face. It certainly offers food for thought if you like to philosophize, or you can simply play the game, experience the (sometimes disturbing) five-hour story and ignore all the symbolism. I for one will be praying that the developers make more games like this!
