I wanted to love Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD so much, but ultimately, I walked away with a bitter taste in my mouth. The Super Monkey Ball franchise is one that deserves to thrive again, and it’s sad to say that I think today isn’t the day that happens.

MediEvil è un titolo imperfetto, e più di remake dovremmo parlare di remastered considerando che il gioco non offre quelle peculiarità tipiche di un rifacimento, su tutte un comparto tecnologico e una struttura ricreati quasi da zero. Il prodotto completo ci ha infatti confermato dubbi e certezze emersi provando la demo, ovverosia da un lato il buon lavoro fatto dagli sviluppatori a livello d’atmosfera e fedeltà al gioco originale, dall’altro delle perplessità su alcuni aspetti della giocabilità. In tal senso il titolo non è stato svecchiato a dovere sul piano dell’interazione e del sistema di combattimento, anche se la patch rilasciata al day one ha in parte porto rimedio a questi problemi. In definitiva MediEvil è un bel platform avventuroso vecchia maniera, consigliato ai più nostalgici e a coloro che hanno voglia di giocare a uno dei titoli di culto della prima PlayStation.

A Knight’s Quest isn’t a bad game. If you’ve got that Zelda-like itch, you’ll probably find it good for a quick scratch. Despite criticisms, its quirky attitude is quite a boon for the game. I can only dread to imagine if a more serious game had this one’s shortcomings, since there’s nothing worse than a bad game demanding to be taken seriously. It’s a charming Zelda-like on PS4, PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, and serves as a good in for people who want to try the genre, but aren’t ready to financially commit to heavier titles like Zelda.

Not content to simply remake these games, this collection offers a nearly complete (sorry SNES Aladdin fans) look into these games and what made them so special. If you weren’t a fan in the 90s, you won’t be persuaded now, but for older players looking to tap into some sweet nostalgia or a new generation discovering these for the first time, this collection hits all the right notes.
