Foamstars is at odds with itself. Its unexpectedly engaging combat mechanics, fast-paced matches, and cool music draw me in, but trudging through its flat single-player content, concerningly aggressive monetization, and horrendously slow menus has numbered Foamstars’ days on my PS5 hard drive. I also feel like I’ve already seen everything it has to offer, and its announced update plan looks glacially slow for a sink-or-swim multiplayer landscape currently full of great options. Foamstars’ ranked modes and maps may be exciting and nuanced mid-match, but the confounding time-gated queues around them don’t offer much motivation to grind up the ladder, which leaves me with very little reason to surf these bubbly waves no matter how much fun it may be.

Foamstars can be a blast under the right conditions. It’s colorful, fast, fluid, and has a great party atmosphere. It’s also disgustingly over monetized, has terrible voice acting, and a boring single player mode. When you’re in a match with players of a similar skill level playing as your main, it’s a ton of fun. But with only three main modes the fun can run out fairly quickly. Who knows how long Foamstars will last, but even with the negatives it’s still worth giving it a shot.

A Little to the Left has proven to be a great ‘night cap’ game for us these past few days, one to play for half hour before bed to unwind. It’s also been a nice palate cleanser in between other, more action heavy titles. It’s the kind of game that will suit almost anyone, offering up a fun, chill, satisfying experience.

Lorsque Nintendo réalise le remake d’un jeu qui a déjà fait ses preuves, le résultat a peu de chances d’être décevant. Mario vs. Donkey Kong est donc un excellent jeu de casse-têtes remis proprement au goût du jour sur Switch. Ses options de confort, sa difficulté progressive et ses différents modes lui permettent d’être agréable à jouer, que l’on cherche à se détendre ou à relever un bon défi. Il profite surtout d’un mode deux joueurs particulièrement réussi et enrichissant considérablement l’expérience. Cependant, pour apprécier pleinement le titre, on vous conseille de jouer à petites doses, la répétitivité pouvant s’installer après de longues heures de jeu ininterrompues.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong è un valido remake di un grande classico. La formula di gameplay è rimasta pressoché invariata rispetto a vent'anni fa ma, fortunatamente, appare ancora abbastanza fresca e divertente. Al netto di una direzione artistica poco ispirata, il titolo di NST porta con sé due mondi del tutto inediti, la spassosa modalità per due giocatori e la nuova difficoltà Relax, che lo rende accessibile a un'ampia gamma di giocatori. Se non avete mai avuto occasione di conoscere questo peculiare spin-off di Super Mario o volete semplicemente rivivere le emozioni sperimentate su Game Boy Advance ormai due decenni fa, questa potrebbe essere l'occasione che stavate aspettando.
