Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon can be hard to love, especially if you’re coming off of FromSoftware’s slow but inevitable march toward more approachable design philosophies. This is a game not entirely divorced from its studio’s recent context but is unwavering in its sortie to be holistically true to the core themes, mechanics, and nature of the Armored Core franchise. It is not unkind in its brutality, often giving you an overwhelming set of tools to achieve any given goal but neither is it all that concerned with ensuring you keep up with its cold, detached world. Rubicon will in turn make you cold to its violence, revelling in refined mechanics and considered systems that remove you from your actions until the game is ready to bring all of that weight to bear with gravity, mass, and fire-red blood.

While the plot and characters in Mediterranea Inferno are interesting, the lack of any real gameplay makes this a difficult game to recommend. If you want an interesting journey but don’t want much involvement, then this could be one for you.

Blasphemous 2 is an excellent Metroidvania and a marked improvement over the original, even if it did occasionally make me cancel my lunch plans with its grotesqueries. What it lacks in originality with its design it more than makes up for with its bizarre world, appalling story, and inspired look and sound. The new weapons and focus on platforming definitely helped sustain my enjoyment for the campaign’s sizable duration, even when underwhelming enemy variety and unchallenging bosses leave something to be desired. Its stomach-churning religious torture porn might be as far as you can get from the adorable world of Hollow Knight, but you’d be hard-pressed to find something better to play while you continue your interminable wait for Silksong.

Blasphemous 2 supera en todo a su predecesor, convirtiéndose así en una nueva joya del desarrollo español y en uno de los mejores metroidvania de los últimos años. Es una auténtica obra de arte que no nos cansamos de contemplar, escuchar y -sobre todo- jugar. Alabado sea el Milagro y alabados sean The Game Kitchen.

Blasphemous 2 saura sans aucun doute satisfaire les fans du genre et encore plus ceux du premier opus. Avec une progression satisfaisante et un monde rempli de récompenses intéressantes. Une deuxième moitié un poil trop dirigiste et surtout sa difficulté parfois injuste rebutera peut-être certains mais nous sommes malgré ces défauts, face à un Metroidvania plus que compétent sur tout les fronts.

C’est simple, Blasphemous 2 surpasse son aîné en corrigeant ses erreurs. Le Penitent a retenu les dures leçons de sa première croisade et semble décidé à clairement s’imposer. Visuellement, c’est toujours saisissant, la lisibilité est optimale, c’est un régal. L’habillage sonore complète le tout pour nous offrir une ambiance palpable et prenante, nous immergeant dans ce monde de violence sans concession et qui attend la moindre de nos erreurs pour nous éventrer. Difficile mais loin d’être insurmontable, notamment via les builds d’équipements que l’on peut se construire, le soft est une réussite en tout point. Ses défauts restent mineurs et acceptables ici, mais il reste encore de la marge et quelques folies qu’on aimerait voir à l’avenir afin de ne pas tomber dans la redite. Un titre à ne pas manquer, connaisseur du premier ou non.

Blasphemous 2 si presenta ai giocatori come un sensibile passo avanti sotto quasi tutti gli aspetti già apprezzati nel capitolo originale. Non è un sequel che reinventa le meccaniche della saga ma è più il frutto della precisa volontà del team di donare ai fan un’esperienza metroidvania di livello. Alcune incertezze in materia di collisioni e le boss fight non sempre in grado di fornire la sfida che cercavamo, non ingannino: la ricetta ludica stratificata e l’ottima direzione artistica riescono nell’intento di tenere il giocatore incollato allo schermo per tutta la durata della campagna. Se siete alla ricerca di un titolo peculiare, complici le sue tematiche che viaggiano sul confine tra sacro e profano, dovreste dargli una possibilità: la seconda crociata del Penitente è un'esperienza che non dimenticherete.

Hasta este punto queda bastante claro que no estamos ante una continuación ordinaria; el número dos no es solo un indicativo de una simple secuela. Esta vez nos encontramos con que Blasphemous II es más y mejor que su primera entrega, como lo hemos podido ver en cada uno de sus apartados, destacando en todos ellos y elevando el listón de calidad a niveles exorbitantes. En The Game Kitchen han logrado superarse a sí mismos, llevando los aspectos artísticos y jugables a su máxima expresión. Han logrado dar con el punto exacto sobre la verdadera esencia de lo que debe ser un Metroidvania, y han honrado la visión que tenían para esta secuela sin perder su identidad en el camino.

Shotgun King does a wonderful job of setting itself apart from the veritable deluge of roguelikes available today. Its blending of classic chess principles with shooting elements and randomized gameplay makes for a fun and highly replayable experience that we’d suggest you give a shot. If you’re looking for a relatively short, addictive game that requires a bit of thinking to get the most out of, Shotgun King is undoubtedly something you should look into.

First Contact Entertainment affiche des ambitions fortes avec des promesses de contenu régulier pour Firewall Ultra et une superbe prise en compte des fonctionnalités du PS VR 2. On pensait tenir l’un des futurs hits du casque d’autant que la fondation du gameplay est solide. Mais le studio se perd quelque peu en route avec un enrobage tout sauf ergonomique, des options ou une utilisation des accessoires VR parfois trop simplifiées et un matchmaking loin d'être au point. On s’y amuse tout de même, mais on sent qu’il y a un potentiel qui n’est pas exploité à sa juste valeur. Son prix contre balance quelque peu le bilan. Espérons que des MAJ rapides corrigent ce qui peut l'être.

Firewall Ultra è un FPS in realtà virtuale e focalizzato totalmente sul multiplayer online piuttosto controverso. Level design e modalità di gioco fanno indubbiamente la loro parte. Anche il comparto grafico rende onore alla potenza di PlayStation VR 2. Peccato per il riciclo totale delle mappe, prese di peso dal prequel; per una modalità PvE per nulla approfondita; per un sistema di controllo che, inspiegabilmente, si affida ai pulsanti e poco ai movimenti naturali delle braccia. Indubbiamente siamo di fronte ad un gioco divertente, quasi assuefacente con il giusto gruppo di amici. Eppure, è innegabile che Firewall Ultra, ad oggi, funzioni peggio di Firewall Zero Hour. I Move non possono competere con i Sense, ma almeno venivano (ben) sfruttati appieno nel 2018. Se possedete l’originale, insomma, tenetevelo stretto. Valutate l’acquisto di questo sequel solo se siete fan del genere e volete gettarvi a capofitto in una nuova esperienza i realtà virtuale
