Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara is a very enjoyable speedrun-focused platformer with plenty of collectibles and genre clichés. It isn't revolutionary to platformers, and it runs very short, but if you don't mind the price tag, it's well worth a try.

Lo adereza todo con una historia sorprendentemente compleja para su género y con una dificultad estimulante que invita a variar continuamente nuestro estilo de combate.

Immortals of Aveum is an impressively confident first-person shooter that successfully trades muzzles and magazines for mages and magic. Its fast-paced, spellcasting combat is both satisfying to master and spectacular to look at, and it features a lengthy and hearty campaign packed with secrets to keep us going well after the story has wrapped. As someone who desperately hopes that unapologetically single-player shooters will live forever, these Immortals have done a great job of making sure they’re definitely not dead yet.

Immortals of Aveum presents us with an interesting new fantasy universe in which magic replaces bullets, but in practice it doesn't quite hit the mark. Despite solid fundamental action, combat can quickly become difficult to read, devolving into a dizzying swirl of colourful effects. Solid presentation and performance lead to some visually arresting scenes, even if the story isn't particularly memorable. It's a good first effort from Ascendant Studios, and the potential is absolutely there, but there's a feeling that the team bit off a little more than it could chew.

Fort Solis es un proyecto, ante todo, curioso. Me cuesta dividir su lógica base de experiencia cinematográfica del hecho de que este medio se caracteriza por la interacción del jugador. Juega a un nivel diferente, quizá inferior al de los juegos de Quantic Dream y similares. Está en tierra de nadie. Es un aperitivo de muchas cosas, y quizá una experiencia agridulce. Sin embargo, su naturaleza de película de terror espacial bien llevado, con mimo y buena mano a la hora de llevar la tensión adelante, hacen que su condición de "peli de domingo por la tarde" no me haya disgustado del todo.

Less a case of biting off more than it can chew, Immortals of Aveum instead serves up a mixed bag of notable creativity, dragged down by issues both narrative and technical alike. While future patches may go some way to iron out the uneven frame-rate and inconsistent visual quality, the same can’t be said for a brand of writing that’s at best tolerable and at worst, potentially off-putting. Minus one or two secondary characters you’d be happy to see stick around for longer, yet are sadly ditched in service of a plot with brief but ultimately unfulfilled promise. If nothing else, Ascendant Studios could’ve done a lot worse given the tone and the design intentions placed here. What’s left is a game that while doesn’t always put its best foot forward, eventually finds a way to loop back round to feeling curious as to what it has tucked away out of shot. Though it may trip over itself one too many times, Immortals of Aveum‘s rewarding level design, puzzle-solving and potential for custom builds still offers a sufficient amount to carry this “magic-shooter” pitch through to credits’ end.

Il y a de quoi s'amuser si on cherche un FPS qui éteint le cerveau et ne surprend pas. Sans être mauvais, il se range dans le fameux tiroir à jeux qui s'oublient une fois terminés.

Fort Solis propone un'esperienza cinematografica che purtroppo scricchiola a causa di una scrittura priva di guizzi particolari. Esplorare la stazione spaziale alla ricerca di registrazioni e documenti che fanno luce sugli eventi della storia si rivela infatti poco avvincente. Gli sviluppatori di Fallen Leaf hanno però costruito una cornice grafica ammirevole in Unreal Engine 5, con scenari ricchi di dettagli e illuminazione realistica (non mancano le fluttuazioni del frame rate). A controbilanciare, almeno in parte, le incertezze della narrazione troviamo le ottime interpretazioni di Troy Baker, Roger Clark e Julia Brown, i quali rendono plausibile ogni scambio di battuta con una varietà di espressioni degna di produzioni ben più grandi di quest'opera prima, che ad ogni modo avrebbe dovuto osare un po' in più.

Immortals of Aveum makes a solid early impression with engaging magic-infused FPS action and eye-catching Unreal Engine 5 visuals, but a predictable plot, irritating characters, and repetitive, by-the-books level design dims the game’s razzle-dazzle. Immortals of Aveum will be worth it for some shooter and fantasy fans, particularly at a discount, but don’t expect your memories of the game to live forever.

Fort Solis Fort Solis ci ha trasmesso una sensazione piuttosto netta. Da un lato, abbiamo percepito la volontà del team di sviluppo di mettersi in gioco, anche ricorrendo alla professionalità di grandi nomi come Troy Baker e Roger Clark. Dall'altro lato, ci siamo trovati di fronte ad un titolo sfortunatamente impalpabile, tanto ludicamente quanto narrativamente. Il team polacco Fallen Leaf si è dunque ritrovato, suo malgrado, a fare il passo più lungo della gamba. Il risultato è un'esperienza thriller a sfondo fantascientifico che, nonostante l'appeal cercato dal marketing, scivola via senza sussulti e punti esclamativi. Un titolo dunque adatto unicamente ad una fugace serata senza pretese: un vero peccato. On ressort d’Immortals of Aveum avec un sentiment étrange. On a sincèrement accroché au gameplay : c’est nerveux, ça tire dans tous le sens et les possibilités sont XXL. L’histoire se laisse suivre avec quelques twists bien amenés. L’univers créé est attrayant, le lore tient la route et tout ce qu’on découvre coule de source quand on se pose en fin de voyage. De ce côté-là difficile d’attaquer Ascendant Studios qui a créé un monde riche et cohérent. Cela ne plaira peut-être pas à tout le monde, question de goûts, mais la qualité est bien là. Mais dès lors qu’on évoque le sujet chaud, le rendu et la technique, le débat est plus qu’ouvert et risque de faire grincer les dents de certains joueurs.

Immortals of Aveum est un jeu qui va diviser. Certains n’accepteront pas les errances techniques, d’autres auront du mal avec l’univers magico-technologique particulier, et ceux qui cherchent une maîtrise à la Doom seront déçus. Pourtant, il faut laisser une chance au soft d’Ascendant Games, car la proposition possède de vrais atouts. Son rythme, son contenu plutôt généreux sans tomber dans un quelconque excès, avec de l’exploration gratifiante, un peu de plateforme et d’énigmes, sans grande prise de tête certes, mais dont on apprécie la présence. Sans parler de sa direction artistique et la fraîcheur de ses combats. Avec ça, l’expérience reste agréable à parcourir, ne tombe pas dans la redondance, tout en apportant suffisamment de challenge à qui le veut. Si vous en avez marre des FPS solo un peu trop sommaires, jeter un œil par ici.

Al netto di una serie di problemi tecnici che speriamo vivamente possano essere mitigati dalle prossime patch, Immortals of Aveum è un first-person magic shooter convincente, che si lascia giocare con trasporto dall’inizio alla fine. Pur appartenendo al genere degli sparatutto, il titolo Ascendant Studio è profondamente diverso dai suoi colleghi e la predominante componente action, unita alla presenza di tanti strumenti per contrastare gli avversari, rende ogni singolo scontro avvincente e spettacolare. La complessa lore alla base dell’esperienza accompagna un intreccio valido, non privo di qualche frangente meno efficace, ma capace talvolta di sorprendere il giocatore, e certamente in grado di spingerlo a ultimare il viaggio di Jak.
