La mancanza di una trama principale adeguata non sempre è un deterrente sufficiente a minare la qualità di un titolo. Square lo sa bene (qualcuno ha detto Legend of Mana?), e anzi ha confezionato un gioco di ruolo strategico mischiando insieme alla bene e meglio clichè dai capitoli precedenti di Final Fantasy Tactics curando in maniera sopraffina quello che in fin dei conti interessa veramente ai giocatori, ovvero il gameplay, che pur soffrendo di una certa lentezza iniziale risulta indubbiamente migliore di quello dei suoi predecessori, e di certo lascerà spaesati i giocatori più sprovveduti a causa delle molteplici opzioni di personalizzazione della partita. Certo, il rammarico permane, e per fortuna gli extra riescono a soddisfare la sete di storia dei ruolisti più radicali, distraendoli dal ricordo dell'incredibile sceneggiatura del capostipite. Il cast di questo Grimoire of the Rift risulta in fine accattivante sopratutto grazie ad una caratterizzazione grafica eccellente, sintomo di un impegno dal punto di vista della produzione che si riflette parimenti nello sviluppo dell'ambientazione e nella cura riposta nei particolari che rendono Ivalice un mondo vivo, popolato da strane, affascinanti creature. L'unica, vera obiezione, che potrebbe frenare l'impeto all'acquisto (che resta comunque assolutamente consigliato) riguarda la localizzazione del titolo, tradotto in francese, tedesco, spagnolo, ma non italiano. Che sia giunto il momento di arrendersi alla straniera convenienza del mercato d'importazione?

Little League World Series Baseball 2008 isn’t really a bad game; it’s just a generic one. The style used on the Wii game doesn’t really translate, so you get a clip art visual style mixed with low-framed animations, and an overall offering that looks about on par with big-character Super NES titles, or online flash mini-games. The controls are all touch-based, and while they work (save for some annoyances during offense) they just aren’t fun. World Series Baseball has a long way to go in finding that perfect play style, and without it, the game’s basic exhibition play, simple mini-games, and linear World Series mode just can’t carry the package. If you want pocket baseball, go with MLB Power Pros. Otherwise wait it out one more year and see if Activision can offer more for your cash in 2009.

If this is a pirate’s life, I want off the ship. The game looks good and holds promise, but that promise is never kept – single player just drags on and on with very little challenge, and multiplayer just doesn’t have enough to it to extend it beyond a short diversion. And that’s only if you have three buddies to play with you.

o not play Women's Volleyball Championship, even if you are a woman that plays volleyball and has participated in championships -- especially, in fact. I can understand trying to do a budget version of volleyball, but when 8-bit versions of the sport actually offer more fun (and maybe even look better), there's quite literally zero reason to take a look at the game. Well, okay, looking at the cover is kind of nice, so look -- but don't you dare touch.

Space Invaders Extreme is a supremely well done arcade update, and a meaty, addictive portable game in its own right. It’s an absolute steal at $20, and anyone who calls themselves a gamer needs it in their DS collection.

SoulCalibur IV est un excellent jeu de combat qui saura satisfaire plusieurs types de public : les néophytes prendront du plaisir dès la première partie, les joueurs plus techniques pourront s'exercer afin de sortir des combos dévastateurs, et les collectionneurs passeront un temps fou à personnaliser leurs combattants et à débloquer tous les équipements.

Si on ne se s'arrête pas au design maladroit et au gameplay manquant parfois de finition, Mr. Slime Jr. pourra vous amuser quelque temps. Dommage que son concept renvoie trop à celui de ses concurrents directs, ce qui ne l'aidera pas vraiment à se faire une place au soleil. Pour autant, vous pouvez vous laisser tenter si le style vous plaît car au-delà de ses imperfections (répétitivité, manque de vigueur, level-design maladroit), le mode multi et son accessibilité le destinent à un large public.
