En tant que fan de jeux de rythme, je suis heureux d'en voir un nouveau. En tant que fan de Final Fantasy, j'aime voir son nom sur tout ce qui bouge, et là c'est le maître mot ! Le mix parfait pour un retour qui l'est tout autant, près de 9 ans plus tard nous voici au paradis de tout ce qui se fait de mieux en la matière. Tout est subjectif dans un test, surtout dans ce cas, mais testez au moins la démo et vous comprendrez...

Wild Hearts is, at times, an utterly thrilling game. It's a game that will leave you kicking yourself for a poorly timed dodge or a missed opportunity, and jumping out of your chair when you finally topple a troublesome foe with a last-ditch, go-for-broke attack. There's a handful of technical issues, a mite too much repetition, and some quibbles about the difficulty, but the core monster hunting experience is spectacular enough that the joys far outweigh the frustrations.

Wild Hearts offers a fresh take on the monster hunting formula. The nature infused Kemono are an original approach to monster designs and some of them look so majestic you almost feel bad about killing them. Azuma is a gorgeous location, and using the different forms of the Karakuri to travel gives exploration a unique quality. The Karakuri in general really what sets Wild Hearts apart from other monster hunting, as its myriad functions add a new dimension to both exploration and battling Kemono. There is a bit of a learning curve and steep difficulty but learning the intricacies of Karakuri make overcoming the challenge a very rewarding and fun experience.

Wild Hearts is a solid enough first attempt at taking on the Monster Hunter crown, but its occasionally frustrating battles, its rather small number of monsters and the fidgety nature of its admittedly inventive gadget system mean you have to put up with a fair degree of irritation if you want to see it through.

Horizon Call of the Mountain’s exciting highs elevate it just enough above its often monotonous climbing mechanics to create a fun first blockbuster-scale entry into the PS VR2 library. Through intuitive design, awesome spectacle, and gripping combat, Horizon’s first step into virtual reality is one packed with exciting encounters that its slower stretches may sometimes detract from, but never threaten to derail completely. It’s an enjoyable, if not essential, chapter of the Horizon story.

Il primo esperimento VR di Horizon può dirsi ampiamente riuscito: Call of the Mountain rappresenta un'ottima esperienza da vivere su PlayStation VR2 nonché uno dei migliori giochi con cui mettere alla prova le potenzialità del visore, sia dal punto di vista grafico, sia da quello meramente sensoriale. Peccato che il progetto di Firesprite e Guerrilla Games non riesca a bilanciare a dovere le fasi di esplorazione e di scalata delle montagne ai combattimenti, presenti in minor parte rispetto alle tante volte in cui dovrete arrampicarvi qua e là per raggiungere una nuova vetta. È un peccato, perché utilizzare l'arco, creare munizioni alternative e affrontare in combattimento le Macchine è divertente e appagante, mentre seppur affascinante nelle prime ore di gioco, le scalate finiscono per assomigliarsi un po' tutte anche quando si sbloccano nuovi strumenti, oltre a richiedere uno sforzo fisico non indifferente. Tutto sommato, Horizon: Call of the Mountain rappresenta uno dei migliori videogiochi con cui sperimentare le meraviglie della realtà virtuale su PS5, pur essendo un'esperienza abbastanza lineare e decisamente lontana dal concetto di "innovazione" rispetto ad altri giochi VR già esistenti sul mercato.

Horizon: Call of the Mountain è la prima grande esclusiva di PS VR2, un gioco che mostra in pompa magna la potenza grafica del visore e immerge il giocatore con tutti i sensi nelle verdi vallate del mondo creato da Guerrilla Games. A livello di gameplay, però, il titolo non è di certo rivoluzionario: l'avventura ha una buona longevità, ma è troppo lineare, sia nell’impostazione che nella narrativa, con delle fasi esplorative un po’ monotone e troppo preponderanti nell’economia di gioco. Soddisfano invece i combattimenti, molto divertenti e adrenalinici. Il visore PS VR2 è ben utilizzato in quest’esclusiva, così come ci si aspettava, ma il gioco non ha abbastanza elementi innovativi per essere qualcosa di davvero unico nel panorama dei titoli per la realtà virtuale.

Horizon: Call of the Mountain è un gioco per la realtà virtuale con una formula di gameplay ordinaria e "ridotta all'osso" se confrontata con gli action adventure che compongono la saga principale. La differenza sta però nella tecnologia di supporto alle innovative funzionalità di PlayStation VR2, che arricchiscono il senso di immersione grazie a una gestione eccellente della fisica e dei sensori per il movimento. Il tutto è sorretto da una cornice visiva mozzafiato che sfrutta agilmente la potenza di calcolo di PlayStation 5 e che tuona a gran voce la gigantesca portata produttiva di un'esclusiva di lancio imperdibile per i possessori di PSVR2.
