L'écran tactile et le stylet n'ont pas trouvé, dans ce FIFA Street 3, l'utilité qui devrait être la leur. Manquant d'originalité, de rythme et de précision, le titre d'EA trébuche à tous les étages et ne marquera pas les joueurs sévissant sur Nintendo DS.

Square-Enix ha impiegato più di cinque anni per dare alla luce il dodicesimo capitolo della saga di RPG più famosa del mondo, ma solo oggi riusciamo a comprendere il perchè di tanta attesa. Storia adulta e profonda, personaggi carismatici, gameplay fresco ed immediato che si sposa in maniera esemplare ad una componente strategica ben strutturata. Se questo non vi basta per bollare questo eccellente prodotto come capolavoro indiscusso aggiungete ai pregi sopraelencati l’enorme libertà decisionale, la smisurata longevità (si parla di oltre 100 ore per portare a termine il gioco nella sua totalità) ed un comparto tecnico praticamente perfetto, inarrivabile da qualsiasi altro prodotto che abbia mai girato su Ps2. Al pari di Okami, Final Fantasy XII rappresenta un prodotto unico nel suo genere, un’opera prima dedicata a quel popolo di sognatori ed avventurieri che fino all’ultimo ha creduto nelle potenzialità della macchina Sony e che senza ombra di dubbio lascerà una traccia indelebile nel panorama videoludico di tutti i tempi.

“Arthur e i Minimei” è un discreto titolo. Inaspettatamente, esso è dotato anzitutto di un comparto tecnico sopra la media. Se infatti la giocabilità si ispira al più classico degli adventure game, con immancabili sezioni dedicate al puzzle solvine ed una marcata attenzione per i combattimenti (invero non troppo complessi), la grafica e il sonoro del titolo sono qualitativamente superiori alla media, e sopratutto ispirati. Del resto siamo tutti ben consapevoli della validità di una proprietà intellettuale legata a valide scenografie cinematografiche, ed Arthur è uno dei pochi adattamenti videoludici che riesce a sfruttarla appieno. Ovviamente il target a cui il prodotto è diretto comprende anche e soprattutto giocatori non navigati, ed è così che il titolo deve venire a patti con una generale facilità di enigmi ed una estrema leggerezza delle fasi d’azione (su cui grava anche l’unico limite tecnico: una limitatissima IA). Un ottimo regalo per il vostro figlio/nipotino entusiasta del film, così da avere la possibilità di sottrarglielo sporadicamente di notte, per ritornare in quel mondo fantastico che, fortunatamente, non appartiene soltanto ai bambini.

While it's certainly not the worst game on the Nintendo Wii, Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 doesn't quite live up to the system's potential. The game does prove that a 3D fighting game can be done with the Wii's limited buttons … but only if the game is very simple with only one or two attack buttons.

Now 16 years after its initial release, Streets of Rage is definitely a mixed bag of presentation and gameplay. While it’s the first in a legendary trilogy of brawlers, the game’s combat is slower and clunkier than fans may remember, and the adventure – while still pretty fun – may not hold up to your memories of the game. Streets of Rage is an awesome title if you’ve never ripped through the franchise before now, but with the knowledge of its successors (particularly Streets of Rage III), it’s hard to go back to the original. The graphical presentation is just a notch higher than Sega Master System, the audio is generic and offers only extremely short snippets of digitized voice samples, and the amount of reused assets (enemies and bosses specifically) cuts the lasting appeal short. Still, Streets of Rage is an awesome chunk of history for both the SEGA Genesis and the brawler genre, and if you’ve already invested in a pair of classic controllers – and have a friend that’s into beat-em-ups as well – Streets of Rage should last you at least a few entertaining hours. For the more conservative VC shopper out there, you may want to hold out for the sequels which are undoubtedly on the way.
