I was thrilled to learn Yie Ar Kung-Fu was coming to XBLA. This is a game I treasured as a kid. I was certain it would stand the test of time. It turns out that sentimentality and nostalgia had clouded my memories. Yie Ar Kung-Fu is a game lost to time. It's outdated and no longer enjoyable. It's worth a few quarters in an arcade cabinet, but not worth $5 on Xbox Live Marketplace.

As a longtime 2K fan, I have begrudgingly accepted Madden for the past few years. After all, I had no other viable options. I wanted All-Pro Football 2K8 to be the return to glory. That isn't the case. There are definitely some good things to build and grow on for next year, but the overall package is too sparse. While much of the gameplay is great, the AI needs a tune-up. If you're looking for a football game expressly for multiplayer, give All-Pro Football 2K8 a chance. But if you're the type that wants a deep single-player experience, you'll want to pass up All-Pro. It's just not quite there yet.

Balloon Fight's a welcome addition to the NES Virtual Console lineup. As a second wave 8-bit title from 1986, it's not quite as early as the Big N's earliest '80s efforts, and though it clones the scenario and style of Midway's Joust, it adds enough to the formula to make its Fights feel unique. Download this one if you're a fan of simple, one-screen arcade action. Don't download this one if you already own it in another form – like as an item in your virtual Animal Crossing home.

It's very disappointing that Sony would attempt to bring back the PaRappa the Rapper franchise without adding anything substantial to the mix. The game is still fairly fun, but it might as well have just released the title over the PlayStation Store and allowed you to download it to your system. Being able to download new background music is fine, but it doesn't extend the game's life all that much. If you've never played the original game, it's worth a quick look. But for anyone hoping PaRappa can compete strongly in today's music game category, look elsewhere.

Ultimate Racing could have been pretty fun, but its combination of unforgiving gameplay and buggy mechanics hold it back. However, fans of racers, Hot Wheels, and racing Hot Wheels might get something out of this budget game -- just don't plan on playing Collector very long without breaking something ...

Ratatouille on the Game Boy Advance is a fine final course on Nintendo's last-gen handheld. The Game Boy brand will likely still keep itself just slightly alive throughout the rest of the year on a diet of more licensed movie tie-in games like this one, while few people even remain to be paying attention – but those gamers still powering on their SPs and Micros would do well to take a look at this impressively animated, solidly fun quest to find the finest food in France.

Overall, Air "Zonk" is wacky, ridiculous and frenetic -- everything you'd want from a cute-'em-up shooter -- and still stands as one of the finest TurboGrafx titles ever made. Enjoy flying through the skies of tomorrow with the crazed cousin of Hudson's head-butting caveman.

This game is better than Wiffle Ball DS, but it's not much of a step up. Skyworks has embarrassed themselves less with this game than that atrocity. However this is a major league game and as such, 2K games should have put a more able development team behind it. The gameplay and art are consistently bland and while nothing's completely broken in this game, the real challenge is staying awake through nine boring innings. There is no reason to buy this game; anyone who's ever played a baseball game will be disappointed by it. And DS owners will have to remain waiting for a truly great baseball experience on the DS.

If you're looking for a well-written, unique RPG fighter, Draglade is going to disappoint. The story mode can be played through with each character in just over two hours, the story is token "I want to be the very best." commonplace, and the characters did absolutely nothing to pull us in. What Draglade offers, however, is some solid battling centered around a unique beat-based combo system, allowing for a ton of customization and depth within a basic three-button fighter. The game oftentimes reminded us of the Tales series by Namco, as it pairs simplistic controls with a surprising amount of depth during combat, but throughout the experience we still couldn't shake that "every-game" feeling we get from Draglade, as it looks, feels, and acts like dozens of generic anime-inspired pocket titles before it. If you're looking for a solid fighter with a large amount of customization, local and online battle support, and a strange – but entertaining – gameplay hook, however, Draglade is a solid choice.

Traxxpad is a very interesting release as it's not a game but rather a full-fledged music production program. It's extremely powerful for what it is, but that also means it's complicated and not as user-friendly as a computer-based equivalent. Folks who have never dabbled in music creation before will find this a fantastic (and relatively cheap) introduction into the art, though you'll need a bit of patience and the will to learn to be able to take full advantage of it.

Helixe is definitely improving on the Nintendo DS and Ratatouille is the development studio’s most impressive outing yet on the system. It’s clear that the game has been tuned to be an easy adventure for the younger crowd, which is a shame for the older crowd that really enjoyed the Pixar flick. It’s a quick romp for the experienced gamers, but the kid gamers? It’ll definitely give them a satisfying sense of accomplishment since it won’t be too difficult to complete.

Driver: Parallel Lines for Wii isn’t a bad game, it’s just late to the party. In the last year and a half since the game’s initial release open-world games have come long way, and that shows not only on the hard-hitting HD consoles, but on Wii as well. Driver attempts to join the ranks of more successful Wii-makes such as Godfather and Scarface, but will find itself at the bottom of the open-world barrel on Nintendo’s console, as the game lacks depth, fine-tuned control, and the right mix of motion/IR control. Driving one-handed can be extremely annoying, as can dealing with the touchy nunchuk steering that can’t seem to be turned off, forcing you to constantly focus on keeping your hand straight. On foot, Driver is missing out on the speed and precision that Wii’s IR can offer, and falls short again to both Godfather and Scarface’s direct cursor control. Wrap these issues up in an open-world game that tries to blend the best of the Driver series with a few of the higher points of GTA and you’ve got a core game that is better than its control would dictate, but feels behind the times when compared to more polished, refined designs on the system. If you’re an open-world junkie, rent this one. All others should pass it up, as there are far more rewarding experiences out there on Wii.

And that's Ecco: The Tides of Time. If it sounds almost exactly like the first Ecco the Dolphin, that's because it is -- it's almost difficult to take it as a separate game, because it's essentially the same experience as what came out for the Genesis one year earlier. If you think an adventure that downplays action and promotes open-ended exploration sounds good, look into either this game or the first Ecco the Dolphin.
