Overall then, Man of Medan is an absolutely brilliant take on the interactive horror genre, with excellent acting and story telling, amazing visuals and plenty to warrant multiple plays. The fact that you can now also do this with friends adds to the experience greatly, lending an extra air of uncertainty to proceedings. Some slight technical and presentation issues aside, I’m glad that more people get to experience Supermassive’s work. Here’s hoping the rest of the anthology can keep up the good work.

Un buen comienzo para esta antología de terror. El relato del Man of Medan nos ha conseguido enganchar por su narrativa abierta y con múltiples decisiones, aunque los momentos de exploración resultan demasiado toscos, lo que refuerza la idea de que estamos más ante una película hecha juego que lo contrario. En todo caso, si te gustó Until Dawn, te gustará esta propuesta, que estamos deseando ver como continua este The Dark Pictures, con otro relato de terror completamente distinto, pero con muchos puntos de unión en términos de propuesta y jugabilidad.

Man of Medan lacks the campy charm of Until Dawn, but still offers an unnerving horror adventure with consequences that felt directly linked to my actions. If you can get through its slow beginning twice, playing through with a co-op partner is a blast as you both properly explore its many branching storylines.

A great game held back by numerous technical problems. The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan promises another great experience in the vein of Until Dawn, but at least on the standard console is too stuttery to play. Much of the content will be inaccessible due to these performance issues. If you have an enhanced console definitely check it out, but unless it receives a patch it can scarcely be considered playable.

Sans être totalement déplaisant, ce premier épisode de The Dark Pictures Anthology n'en reste pas moins très décevant. Alors que le jeu à cinq se montre sympathique et qu'on s'amusera à essayer de voir l'ensemble des fins possibles, Man of Medan est vite rattrapé par une qualité d'écriture très moyenne et un niveau technique abominable synonyme de saccades et autres freezes constants. On déplorera également un surplus de jump scares et un rythme déséquilibré synonyme de nombreuses longueurs. Bref, un coup d'essai avec du potentiel mais qui ne convainc pas à l'arrivée en espérant que les problèmes soulevés soient résolus pour les prochains opus.

The Dark Pictures Anthology : Man of Medan est une relative déception. Amateurs du genre conquis à nos heures perdues par Until Dawn sur Playstation 4, en attendions-nous un peu trop ? Même si cela est peut-être vrai, Man of Medan n’en demeure pas moins un jeu qui peine à passionner, la faute à une galerie de personnages pour laquelle on n’a guère envie de creuser, des dialogues fades, un rythme inégal et des commandes globalement lourdes. A ce stade, c’est presque un miracle que l’histoire parvienne finalement à intéresser jusqu’au bout. On ne peut pas totalement déconseiller Man of Medan qui parvient malgré tout à produire pas mal de moment de sursaut et dispose d’une ambiance qui n’est pas désagréable. On espère néanmoins que Little Hope, second chapitre de cette anthologie, parviendra à créer une expérience plus équilibrée entre le fond et la forme.
