Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition is a proper send off before Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is released next year. Simply the PC game and its expansions released for console in their original form -- with the only changes being ones that make it playable on console -- those already familiar with Eora don't need to revisit on console, but any RPG fan who prefers console to PC gaming owes it to themselves to check this one out. This is a perfect example of an old school RPG done in a way to feel contemporary that still maintains an element of tabletop feel to it. Narrative and dialog are major components of the experience and the story told here is developed enough to justify there being such a heavy emphasis on it.

Las expectativas eran altas pero Obsidian Entertainment ha creado la que puede que sea su mejor obra hasta la fecha. Pillars of Eternity es una aventura de rol memorable. Un videojuego que pasará a los anales de la historia como en su día lo hicieron los grandes clásicos como Baldur’s Gate o Planescape: Torment, en los que se inspira para recuperar esa esencia rolera que tanto echábamos de menos y adaptarla a los nuevos tiempos. Hay tal vez menos opciones en aspectos como la configuración de nuestros héroes, pero en líneas generales esta es la evolución lógica de un género que pedía a gritos recuperar esa profundidad jugable y libertad de acción que tanto nos deleitó décadas atrás. Sin duda, estamos ante un imprescindible.

The outstanding classic-style RPG Pillars of Eternity makes a surprisingly virtuosic transition to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 with the Complete Edition, bringing both systems all of the content that's been released on the PC version so far. For an RPG of its complexity, it’s surprising how pleasingly intuitive its gamepad control scheme is, and its easily legible text makes it feel just as good to play from the couch as from a desk. It's a memorable experience that suffers from only a few technical hiccups, most significantly its long and frequent loading times.

Pillars of Eternity tiene un sabor inconfundible a clásico. De todos los que se denominan como tales, es el heredero más legítimo de la Bioware y Black Isle de Dungeons and Dragons. Homenajea a esos títulos en la misma medida que intenta impulsar la historia y, sobre todo, se desvive porque una misma situación tenga diferentes enfoques y formas de resolverse dependiendo del jugador y de cómo esté desarrollando a su protagonista. Un magnífico juego de rol que, sin duda, deja con ganas de más y la esperanza de que este género viva una segunda época dorada.

Même s'il faut bien reconnaître que l'arrivée de Divinity : Original Sin a donné à Pillars un léger coup de vieux, le portage console de titre d'Obsidian est suffisamment solide pour recueillir les faveurs des joueurs désireux de se laisser tenter par un RPG à la narration et à la profondeur qui forcent le respect. Avec une refonte intelligente de l'interface et la présence d'emblée des deux parties du DLC The White March, Pillars of Eternity : Complete Edition reste un choix de roi qui vous occupera de longues heures durant même si naturellement, le combo clavier / souris restera toujours plus recommandé dans un jeu proposant des combats en temps réel avec un système de pause active.

Verdict: If what you’re looking for is a fresh take on the classic Baldur’s Gate-style isometric RPG, you will adore this game. If you’re used to more fast-paced RPGs, you might get frustrated with Pillars of Eternity. This game exists to scratch a very specific itch and is unapologetic to those who don’t know what they’re getting into. For fans of the genre, Pillars is a rewarding fantasy epic.
