Mothergunship est finalement l’un de ces Fast-FPS à connotation procédural de cet été qu’il faudra faire de toute urgence. Malgré son manque de variété en ce qui concerne les environnements et les décors, mais aussi la difficulté un peu trop punitive pour les néophytes notamment, le soft de Terrible Posture Games s’offre dans la foulée une tripotée de qualité. Le gameplay tout en Fast-FPS est solide, son côté procédural aussi, et on retrouve toutes ces bonnes sensations que l’on retrouve dans un Fast-FPS avec son côté ultra nerveux, et surtout des combats ultra bien rythmés et sans temps mort. Le crafting d’armes est une bonne idée, et puis le titre est vraiment tellement complet et addictif que vous allez y passer des heures et des heures sans soucis. Donc si vous recherchez un bon Fast-FPS, avec un côté déjanté et plutôt joli pour la rétine alors n’hésitez pas plus longtemps et jetez vous sur Mothergunship. Le soft pourrait vous régaler des heures durant !

Con ese espíritu cañero de los grandes clásicos de la acción en primera persona, Mothergunship es un frenético videojuego de disparos con el que es difícil no pasar un buen rato. La intensidad de sus combates siempre anima a querer echar una partida más, y la posibilidad de diseñar tus armas contribuye a que la experiencia sea aún más divertida. Su gran problema es que, a corto plazo, se vuelve algo repetitivo; le falta variedad en el diseño de sus escenarios e igualmente, una mayor variedad de enemigos a los que enfrentarse.

Mothergunship riesce a fare quello che promette, ma mostra anche tutti i limiti di una struttura di gioco che sacrifica narrativa ed esplorazione per l'azione vera e propria e per la magnificazione di certe meccaniche. Se siete alla ricerca di una sfida impegnativa vi piacerà sicuramente. Fate comunque attenzione, perché alla lunga può diventare davvero molto ripetitivo, nonostante gli sforzi fatti per dargli un po' di sostanza.

Mothergunship has some interesting ideas and unique gameplay mechanics, but it doesn't deliver as enjoyable of an experience as it may seem on paper. The gunplay is lackluster, weapon crafting isn't as extensive as you might hope, and the roguelike design elements mostly work against the game.

In a game where everything is random, the player experience will follow suit. I have no doubt that there will be plenty who enjoy their time with Mothergunship. The tone of the story and dialogue is perfectly over the top. The shooting is frantic, and getting a good collection of gun barrels can be exhilarating. Still, there's no guarantee that the next level will produce similarly entertaining results, and that's too hard for me to ignore. Tilting the scales towards chaos can work, but not in the type of game that Terrible Posture Games is crafting. Not in a story campaign that makes players want to move forward. Not in a game based around loot and memorable weaponry. Whey they fail, players are punished by repeated dialogue and stripped of their weapons parts, and it's often not their fault. That's the difference between playing hundreds of hours of blissful repetition and a twenty-hour grind to the finish.

However fun it might look, some core parts of the game feel forgotten, abandoned or ignored. It's such a great concept and that makes it so sad it didn't even feel like a diamond in the rough.
