SteamWorld ha vuelto a conseguirlo, ampliando sus fronteras al terreno de la simulación y gestión de construcciones con un videojuego de mecánicas robustas, que además resulta adictivo y está bien terminado. Tal vez el aspecto en que más flojea es en cierta repetición en su planteamiento (con 5 ciudades que no se diferencian mucho), pero ofrece una complejidad creciente, un satisfactorio grado de desafío y una novedosa mecánica de jugabilidad bajo tierra (minería) que marca la diferencia con respecto a otros títulos del género. Si te gusta construir y gestionar recursos, o simplemente te atrae la licencia, estás en el lugar correcto.
SteamWorld Build is an enjoyable little city builder that doesn't give you grindy busywork or overstretch itself with bloated padding, focusing on a solid foundation of laying out a city and providing it with supplies. Its underground layer is a cool additional system that has you expanding, improving, and defending your mining operation in a way that matches the laid back pace of the surface nicely. At the same time, SteamWorld Build’s simplicity cuts both ways, and there isn’t much variety on return trips aside from fitting the old bits into new maps. That makes it a refreshing city builder worthy of a few fun weekends, but not a particularly deep one I’m likely to boot up year after year.
SteamWorld Build heeft een verslavende gameloop, maar de hoeveelheid content die het brengt is moeilijk te verantwoorden voor het prijskaartje van €29,99. Je krijgt wel vijf verschillende mappen, maar buiten een visuele verandering, verandert er niet veel aan de hele gameloop en gameplay en doe je uiteindelijk vijf keer hetzelfde. Niettemin is het een goed deel in de reeks en mag een fan het alvast op zijn whishlist zetten, in afwachting van een lagere prijs.
