In the end, there's nothing like getting your money's worth. Firestarter initially comes off as unabashedly shallow -- a budget title hell bent on delivering nothing but the bare minimum. Yet the game expands its simple 'run and gun' action through a satisfying skill system, yummy graphics, and a handful of playable personas. Firestarter delivers rich action without raping the wallet -- not much else to ask for in a game.

Firestarter hat mich überrascht! Die pfeilschnellen Duelle in den Arenen sind äußerst kurzweilig und es macht einfach Laune, die bizarren Gegnerhorden mit allerlei Waffen ins Nirvana zu blastern. Doch trotz des Mini-Erfahrungssystems bleibt das Spiel auf Dauer recht eintönig und präsentiert sich eher als Lückenfüller für zwischendurch – auch, wenn die recht langen Ladezeiten etwas abschrecken. Richtig spaßig wird FireStarter erst im kooperativen Multiplayer-Modus, der aber nur über LAN funktioniert. Ein Kompliment geht noch an den Publisher Vidis, der sich trotz des Indizierungswahns der BPjM getraut hat, das Spiel unzensiert unters Volk zu bringen.
