Expeditions: Rome ci è piaciuto davvero molto e lo consigliamo a tutti quelli che sono alla ricerca di un gioco di ruolo profondo e sfaccettato, pur con qualche criticità, in particolare dal lato strategico. È un degno nuovo episodio della serie Expeditions, oltretutto dalla scenario davvero affascinante (la Roma Repubblicana). Si tratta di un'esperienza coinvolgente e piena di scelte significative, con eventi e situazioni costruiti con grande sapienza. A dirla tutta ci aspettavamo molto meno e forse proprio per questo siamo rimasti particolarmente colpiti dal risultato finale.

If one were being picky, you could argue Drinkbox’s focus this time on repeated dungeon-crawling may not have the same wow factor the studio’s past projects have garnered on first glance. But while early parts may seem daunting in its implied reliance on needless grind, what players will quickly learn in Nobody Saves the World is that its flexibility with combat and dexterity with character customization is what will keep them happily fixated until adventure’s end. Even if the occasional writing doesn’t hit in the way the studio is hoping. But credit to Drinkbox for not falling into the trap of becoming too reliant on roguelite mechanics in so far as how the world is structured and how players go about rising to the task. Because what truly shines here is the studio’s ability to encourage experimentation without it feeling, like its level progression, too much of a burden to take on. Added to on top by well-suited side-quests, a challenge system that rarely gets tiresome and a general feeling throughout that one’s time never feels wasted, Nobody Saves the World stands as Drinkbox’s most curious but mechanically-satisfying title to date.

Il punto di forza principale di Nobody Saves the World è il suo non essere mai banale: non lo è nelle splendide musiche, nei buffi dialoghi, nella pur semplice trama, né nel complesso ma appagante sistema degli Aspetti, che dona al giocatore la possibilità di mescolare abilità e creare build sempre nuove e devastanti. È un gioco in pieno stile Drinkbox insomma, diverso dagli splendidi Guacamelee!, ma da cui eredita uno stile sopra le righe e un'esplosione di creatività riscontrabile non solo nella componente artistica, ma in ogni suo pixel. È un'esperienza ricchissima di cose interessanti da fare, che ha richiesto più di 20 ore per essere completata (aggiungendone un'altra decina per il 100%), e che pecca solo in alcune scelte di design legate al combattimento e alla progressione, le quali hanno però parzialmente intaccato le prime ore di gioco. Che siate amanti degli action/RPG o meno, concedete un'occasione a Nobody Saves the World - soprattutto se siete abbonati al servizio Game Pass, su cui il titolo debutta dal day one. Fosse anche soltanto per vedere come sia possibile realizzare un esponente del genere senza bisogno di ricorrere a cliché triti e ritriti.

I have loved Drinkbox’s previous titles, and I had high hopes for this one. Seeing it release day one on Game Pass gave me the hope that Xbox had seen something special. After the first hour, I knew they must have as this game is tremendous. Using a mix of great art, excellent music, and a complex but easy-to-understand gameplay loop it hooked its fangs into me immediately. The titular star of this game may be a Nobody but after this release, Drinkbox Studios are certainly not.
