Overall, Silver Chains is at best a capable horror that gives a few hours of chills, and at worst it’s a game that relies on overused tropes to create its scares whilst looking damn good doing so. Let’s not forget though, this is an indie title, and for a small budget adventure, we’ve certainly seen and played much worse. Whilst it might not be the best horror game you’ll play this year, there is no reason not to add this to your list if you’re a fan of the genre.

While combat proves to be something of a disappointment, it’s just one aspect of a game that will keep most players happily busy for hours on end. I haven’t even touched on many of its other facets: the crafting system that lets you create special armour and weapons; the way in which you can recruit agents to perform special missions (not seen, usually, but described in text); the insane levels of well-written background lore available to you through the game’s Codex; the above-average voice acting and the hours and hours of spoken dialogue from a wonderful cast of characters; the subtle way in which you gradually feel your character becoming more and more powerful as his or her organisation – the titular Inquisition – expands its power base. There’s even a multiplayer mode in which you team up with up to three other players for special battles against computer-controlled foes. Dragon Age: Inquisition may not be the perfect RPG – it’s merely a very, very good one – but for RPG fans so far starved through the PS4 and Xbox One generation it will be precisely the game to keep them company through these cold, dark winter months. And its vast scale and replayability mean its appeal may endure well beyond that.

Age of Empires IV di Relic Entertainment è un lavoro che urla amore verso Age of Empires II: questo significa ovviamente avere tra le mani un gioco dotato di una campagna single player interessante, un gameplay asimmetrico ben strutturato e la possibilità di passare ore e ore a giocare in PvP come si faceva anni fa con l'amato secondo capitolo. Questo ovviamente, nonostante lo studio più caratterizzato delle civiltà e la marcatura data alle differenziazioni tra queste, rende Age of Empires IV un titolo all'interno del suo recinto, che non osa oltre il necessario ma che allo stesso tempo inserisce aiuti molto importanti per i neofiti. Alla fine, giocare dentro questo recinto in una guerra totale tra civiltà medievali è qualcosa che mancava agli amanti degli RTS, e tutto ciò rende Age of Empires IV un gradito ritorno.

De votre intérêt pour Star-Lord et compagnie dépendra fortement l’impression laissée par Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Si les deux GotG réalisés par James Gunn figurent parmi vos films du MCU préférés, alors il y a de fortes chances que vous accrochiez avec le jeu d’Eidos Montréal. Et peut-être même que vous adoriez. Les Gardiens sont à la fois drôles, attachants et (volontairement) lourds. Et le joueur a plaisir à découvrir le pourquoi du comment en leur compagnie. Tout ça accompagné d’un voyage musical dans les années 80 qui va bien. Si l’ambiance qui se dégage des aventures des Gardiens ne vous fait ni chaud ni froid en revanche, il sera certainement plus difficile de passer outre des phases de combat pas particulièrement intéressantes et parfois longues. Qu’Eidos Montréal n’ait pas cherché par tous les moyens à faire de son titre un jeu-service est en tout cas appréciable. L’aventure proposée ici est complète, avec une structure et une narration maîtrisées. Si Square et Marvel décident de proposer aux joueurs un nouveau voyage à bord du Milano, votre serviteur embarquera sans hésiter.

If you adored the previous games in the series and delight in the sounds of yesteryear, then you’ll have a blast with Rock Band 4. Especially, if you can cajole enough friends together to strum along to The Who, Van Morrison and the like. In a time when local co-op stalwarts like Halo are ditching split screen play and Nintendo’s Wii U is suffering a slow death, Rock Band 4 strikes an awkward tone. There’s fun to be had soloing away in a state of inebriation, but its kit is expensive if you don’t own any instruments already. I also doubt that the multiplayer experience will provide much in the way of longevity. For those folk who grew up in the era of music streaming, Rock Band 4 feels like an artifact that belongs to another time.
