Song of Iron is possibly one of my favourite games of 2021. It has a perfect playtime with just the right amount of difficulty to leave you at times pulling your hair out and feeling a brilliant sense of accomplishment when you have killed an enemy or a boss. Song of Iron‘s music is a great accompaniment, the Nordic feel pulls you in and immerses you completely. As you’re going through the game you pick up powers which include faster running helps you jump over those big gaps, fire and electricity for your sword and arrows as well as my personal favourite: calling back your sword after you’ve thrown it into an enemies head. At just a couple of hours long, this comes highly recommended.

On the surface, Recompile might look and sound like an interesting, potentially unique, proposal. A game that aims to fuse Metroidvania-like exploration, logic-based puzzle-solving and combat in a way that is both mechanically as much artistically intriguing to engage with. Phigames’ delivery, however, misses the mark spectacularly in just how poorly-crafted and at times, off-putting both its level design and means of communication is in instructing the player on where specifically their next destination should ideally be. That’s not to argue against the idea of letting players free to discover and deduce on their own, but Recompile on many occasions feels like a game caught between two different directions on design. Between the suggestion of exploration and the necessity for linear platforming. In the end, neither direction winds up sufficiently well as one should expect. The game does occasionally muster some remnant of satisfaction with the way its world and aesthetic is structured. But a case of artistic vision overwhelming implementation leaves Recompile with a muddled, at times horribly-frustrating sense of progression.

Il valore di Myst resta immutato nel tempo, anche se al giorno d'oggi le sue stranezze e rigidità in termini di puzzle design e organicità generale dell'esperienza risaltano in maniera più netta. Anche queste però contribuiscono al suo fascino e fanno ormai parte di quello che è a tutti gli effetti un paradigma delle avventure a enigmi. Quello che ci si domanda è allora: ha senso re-immegersi in Myst in questa nuova forma, rispetto alle versioni precedenti? L'isola iniziale e le sue varie ere non sono mai state così belle, questo è innegabile, anche se paradossalmente l'impatto della grafica in questo nuovo contesto è molto inferiore a quello che fu in origine. In linea di massima l'interpretazione migliore, tra quantità di contenuti e fedeltà all'originale, resta probabilmente RealMyst: Masterpiece Edition, ma questa attualizzazione funziona comunque bene e Xbox Game Pass può donare una marcia in più a questa versione, peraltro l'unica disponibile sulla console Microsoft, consentendo a un ampio pubblico di immergersi in questa avventura senza tempo.

Uno dei migliori sparatutto tattici sul mercato Sniper Ghost Warriors Contracts 2 lascia il segno su PS5 con una grafica notevolmente migliorata, caricamenti quasi istantanei, contenuti aggiuntivi e il sapiente utilizzo del DualSense, tutti elementi che si combinano perfettamente per renderlo non solo la versione definitiva dell'ultima fatica di CI Games, ma anche uno dei migliori sparatutto tattici presenti attualmente sul mercato. PRO - Diverse modalità (fra prestazioni e resa grafica) fra cui scegliere- Feedback gratificante rilasciato dalle armi- Maggiore varietà per quanto riguarda gli obiettivi da eliminare CONTRO - Storia di gioco ancora poco profonda e in definitiva ignorabile

Baldo The Guardian Owls non è un brutto gioco. È un'avventura d'altri tempi, con meccaniche di gioco appartenenti al secolo scorso, ben conscia di essere uscita sul mercato in un periodo storico in cui il videogioco sta andando in tutt'altra direzione. Forse, se Domenico e Fabio non avessero seguito il loro "sogno", Baldo non avrebbe neppure visto la luce, a fronte di tempistiche di sviluppo lunghissime e problematiche di ogni genere, che avrebbero senza dubbio portato a una cancellazione del titolo senza colpo ferire. Così com'è, The Guardian Owls è quindi "solo" un RPG d'azione concepito con una filosofia di oltre vent'anni fa, un'epoca in cui un certo tipo di videogioco spesso non rincorreva nulla, se non la semplice voglia di divertire.

L'exhaustivité de ce portage a de quoi vous occuper un moment, si la dure réalité du rétrogaming ne vous effraie pas. Car au-delà d'un multijoueur crossplay bienvenu et le choix du niveau dans toutes les extensions disponibles, le titre n'apporte aucune nouveauté. Les grosses textures pixelisées restent de grosses textures pixelisées. C'est aussi ce qui fait le charme de Quake, qui semble ainsi répondre à la tendance des jeux faussement rétro en clamant haut et fort « Eh oh, c'est moi le patron ici ». Alors pour jouer comme en 1996 avec Nine Inch Nails bien fort dans les oreilles, vous savez quoi faire.

Road 96 is the road-tripping game that I hope people get to play. Its story beats are just sublime and its randomization of your journey towards the endgame makes it highly replayable and fans of narrative-driven games would get a kick out of this one.

Lake è un'esperienza che vuole metterci davanti a un bivio che esiste al suo interno, ma che si estende anche al di là dello schermo, tracima nella nostra vita. Ci riesce benissimo, anche se non c'è dubbio che alcune cose potevano essere realizzate decisamente meglio, approfondite forse oltre le possibilità del team di sviluppo. Il messaggio funziona alla grande, ma il Lake videogioco avrebbe senza dubbio beneficiato di una strato di complessità in più.
