Bastano poco più di quattro ore per innamorarsi di Minute of Islands, un’avventura indie che gioca con le aspettative dell’utente, attraendolo col suo manto grafico fanciullesco in un mondo insulare corrotto, spossato, dalla storia pregressa incerta, come d’altronde è incerta la natura dei personaggi che agiscono al suo interno. Difficile restituire a parole la bellezza di un piccolo-grande videogame che solo pad alla mano sa farsi scoprire, ascoltare, ammirare in tutto il suo splendore, pur con i limiti di una struttura di gioco che, forse, avrebbe giovato di un andamento meno ridondante.

Rilassante e rilassato, Slime Rancher è un buffo “manageriale avventuroso” dai tratti piuttosto atipici. La sua formula ludica richiede però curiosità e dedizione affinché la giovane LeBeau possa entrare in confidenza con le numerose variabili che regolano la vita degli slime, così da aumentare i propri guadagni ed espandere il ranch con installazioni sempre migliori. Il titolo ha il potenziale per intrattenere a lungo gli amanti del genere, sebbene l’assenza di missioni collaterali di rilievo rischi di appesantire un gameplay tendente per natura a un certo grado di ripetitività delle medesime mansioni. Ad ogni modo, il buon equilibrio di meccaniche esplorative e gestionali fa sì che il problema possa eventualmente manifestarsi dopo un quantitativo di ore in-game sufficientemente consistente, che insomma giustifica i venti euro richiesti per un prodotto confezionato con grande passione e competenza. E che rappresenta per Monomi Park, inoltre, un debutto di tutto rispetto.

Juego de notable acabado que disfrutaremos y recordaremos. Una buena compra, muy recomendable para amantes del género. Está bien cuidado a todos los niveles.

Beasts of Maravilla Island fa della delicatezza e della spensieratezza i suoi punti di forza, merito di una direzione artistica ispirata, nonostante le limitazioni tecniche, e di una colonna sonora di grande spessore. Peccato per qualche bug e per la scarsa longevità: qualche accorgimento in più a livello di puzzle ambientali avrebbe potuto restituire un titolo più completo.

In conclusion, Stonefly is an above average indie title that might be best played on a more portable device encouraging smaller play sessions for grinding minerals. I played on Xbox Series S and had no issues with glitches apart from finding my way out of the intended map a few times. The game would have greatly benefited from an additional polish phase since it feels vastly empty at times and can be annoying to navigate. The lack of a usable map and the finicky fast travel mechanics discourage players from investing the time required to obtain all upgrades in a playthrough. However, not all is loss with this title. It is fairly priced for what it offers with a brief story and the time it takes to finish the game. The standout features that I enjoyed the most were the controls for the combat, the original soundtrack, and the unique art style that I haven’t seen elsewhere. I know my flight isn’t over for this enjoyable little game considering I still need to upgrade everything and I’m missing some fun achievements. The combat after several hours will become repetitive even with newer enemies being introduced. The assist mode is also a fantastic bonus for the game if trying to clean something up. If you’re a fan of air mech games or just like bugs, I’m sure you will find some enjoyment out of this little indie title.
