Sia chiaro, Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown è alla base ancora oggi un picchiaduro dal gameplay eccelso, ed è una manna poterlo rigiocare anche in versione "scarnificata" in favore dell'online. Non bastasse, è bello vedere come SEGA non abbia del tutto abbandonato a sé stesso il marchio, rinnovandone perlomeno il comparto tecnico. Il problema è che l'unico elemento trascurato è anche il più importante per un'operazione di questo tipo: il netcode, delay based e nemmeno particolarmente di qualità. La situazione non è così atroce da rendere il tutto ingiocabile, eppure le nostre prove hanno evidenziato parecchi problemi di stabilità, che purtroppo non ci permettono di premiare il ritorno di un classico simile a dovere. Un vero peccato.

At least some of the monotony is tied to the overuse of visual assets. Sure, Sentinel of the Shards’ jungles, temples, and caves, are made up of attractively drawn pieces. But there’s not enough variety in each milieu, and you’ll seeing the same features repeatedly. Another issue stems from the game’s mini map that only offers a single, static overhead perspective. While the game gives you waypoints to follow, occasionally navigating there can be troublesome given the game’s linear, labyrinthine pathing. As such, you probably developer the habit of ignoring the map and just hugging the walls of each area. Aluna: Sentinel of the Shards was undoubtedly a labor of love for the developers, who envisioned an interactive adaption of the bicultural heroine. But Diablo-like games can make for an uneasy conduit. Not only do they not lend themselves to involved plotlines but play can be difficult to balance. Aluna’s attempt is admirable, but she might have fared better in a less popular, but more expository media like a visual novel.

Granted, the chase sequences are frustrating and the story falls a bit flat, but there's some wonderful attention to detail in Close to the Sun's environments, and tension is present even in the game's calmest moments.

Biomutant è un titolo promettente e dalle grandi ambizioni che, purtroppo, non riesce a sostenere il proprio peso. A cominciare dalla trama insapore, Biomutant non riesce a rendere realmente incisiva nessuna delle moltissime qualità che lo compongono. Molti degli extra inseriti nel titolo non trovano nemmeno una propria ragion d'essere, scadendo nella semplice aggiunta pressoché inutile. Biomutant è un buon titolo che non riesce a risplendere, sommerso da fin troppe meccaniche a tarparne le ali. Se cercate un titolo con cui passare del tempo menando le mani, quasi in stile arcade, Biomutant può sicuramente essere il titolo adatto a voi. Se cercate qualcosa di più profondo, passate oltre.
