Un gioco per tanti, ma non per tutti Oddworld: Soulstorm ci offre la possibilità di scoprire cosa è successo dopo l'esodo di massa dei Mudokon dai Mattatoi Ernia grazie al coraggioso Abe, e proprio come il predecessore ed il relativo remake/reboot, sprigiona anni '90 e platform da tutti i pori. Nel complesso, il gioco riesce ad intrattenere e divertire con le nuove avventure del simpatico alieno blu grazie all'introduzione di nuove dinamiche di gioco ed un sistema di crafting semplice ma funzionale. D'altro canto, bisogna ricordare che la legnosità dei comandi ed il continuo ricorso alle meccaniche trial & error potrebbero rendere l'esperienza di gioco frustrante. Per quanto ci riguarda, stiamo parlando di un titolo must-have per gli amanti del genere e della serie, a tutti gli altri consigliamo di provare, mai dire mai... PRO - Narrativa e cutscene decisamente convincenti - Elevata rigiocabilità - Interessanti le nuove introduzioni lato gameplay CONTRO - Controlli ancora troppo legnosi e frustranti - Lato grafico si poteva intervenire meglio - Eccessivo ricorso alle meccaniche trial & error

Heal is an experimental puzzle game, and despite some nice visuals the gameplay doesn’t quite hit home for me. I felt very little attachment to the story or events, and I ended up resorting to a guide for the most part just to get through it. If you’re keen for a new type of puzzle game then it might be more up your street, but there are better examples of the genre out there.

Godstrike fulfils that baseline need all boss rush games do – the thrill of overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds. Its primary mechanical hook of entwining health and battle time into powerful abilities creates fantastic, tense battles. However it’s the smaller things that hold the experience back. A distinct lack of characterising flair for the bosses through story or music hurt their memorability, and the unrelenting difficulty amongst the chaos, while exhilarating to overcome, is still (at times) overbearing. Regardless of its rough edges though, Godstrike is enjoyable as a quick hit of intense action.

Potenzialmente Poison Control poteva fare molto di più. Il concept dietro il nuovo titolo di NIS America è interessante e le idee ci sono. Quando ho visto il primo trailer pubblicato ho subito provato una profonda curiosità, ma c'è sempre stata in me una vocina che mi faceva titubare sul risultato finale. Purtroppo quelle paure si sono concretizzate e minano ciò che poteva essere un bel gioco se solo il gameplay generale fosse stato curato di più. Un sistema di shooting che non diverte e non esalta mescolato a meccaniche di gioco alla Qix che non fanno altro che tediare ulteriormente il giocatore. Un mix di monotonia che va a braccetto con un comparto tecnico antiquato e un level design che tende a seguire questa scia di noia che tutto il prodotto si porta dietro. L'unico elemento positivo sono le storie delle ragazze, ma in alcune missioni il gioco cade quasi nel ridicolo. Un'occasione sprecata quella di NIS America che potrebbe attirare giusto gli appassionati più incalliti, ma per il resto c'è veramente poco per cui vale la pena addentrarsi nell'inferno in rosa di Poison Control.

Genesis Noir may only be a few hours, but I'm still thinking about it days later. The stylish line art and jazz-filled soundtrack help make this cosmic tale stand out even more. While Genesis Noir might not be quite a game or point and click adventure, it is an interactive art piece that's not only enjoyable but also educational. I look forward to seeing what else Feral Cat Den has in store; meanwhile, don't sleep on Genesis Noir.
