La Bloober Team délivre un thriller psychologique et surnaturel aux multiples influences maîtrisées, et au récit à la fois sombre et touchant. The Medium est une œuvre artistique à part entière, à la fois visuelle et musicale, dont l’univers mérite d’être parcouru. Le studio polonais parviennent également à tirer profit de cette dualité ludique entre les plans physique et spirituel sans pour autant innover outre mesure au cours d’une aventure linéaire. La menace qui pèse sur Marianne, aussi intense soit-elle par instant, perd quant à elle trop souvent en intensité pour marquer durablement les joueurs. The Medium est en définitive une expérience horrifique “arty” à l'image des précédentes productions des développeurs.

Bonkies offers families and friends a hilarious way of playing together through intense cooperation set in the vast unexplored unknown of space. The relaxing background music adds to the overall light-hearted nature of the game, but that’s not to say you can take it easy. You’d better be ready to get your act together and use your hand-eye coordination like your life depended on it—because when it comes to space construction, there’s definitely no monkeying around.

Despite its narrative leading to little in the way of a noteworthy tale, TOHU manages to gracefully side-step such an omission through wise understanding of its scale. Utilizing such a wild, excessive aesthetic in a way that feels earned, as opposed to unjustly forced. But in focusing specifically on the bevvy of point-and-click conundrums — as much making sure to sprinkle in more deductive puzzles along the way — TOHU isn’t just a pleasant trip through a child-like exaggeration of visuals and scenery, but crucially, does so in a way that doesn’t treat its players similarly as such young-aged audience members. Both with the way conundrums are presented, but also through its hint system that manages to give enough of an assistance, yet still trust its players to deduce the correct method forward. It may fall victim to the trappings of point-and-click’s very structure once or twice along the way, but TOHU still manages to provide a short and sweet little adventure through a surreal, at times delightful, set of circumstances.

TOHU è un'avventura punta e clicca molto classica, pensata probabilmente per un pubblico giovane o per fan del genere che non hanno molta dimestichezza con puzzle ed enigmi. Il suo più grande punto di forza è certamente la grafica, sia a livello tecnico che stilistico. Ogni isola-pesce di TOHU è ricolma di dettagli che gli donano un carattere forte e unico. La trama è solo abbozzata, ma è tutto quello di cui il giocatore ha bisogno per poter avanzare. Il vero problema è l'instabilità del gioco, soprattutto nelle fasi finali: vi sono vari bug e potenzialmente uno di essi è bloccante. Anche il sistema di controllo, su Switch, non è ottimale: per certo la soluzione migliore è acquistare la versione PC.

Olija oozes originality, from its cinematic storytelling to its uniquely retro graphics and the genre-bending award-worthy soundtrack that ties it all together. And don’t forget about its fluid combat and exploration-focused gameplay that slowly introduces new mechanics that keep the game engaging and fun but at the same never letting it get too complex. For a while I put off engaging in what I believed to be the final encounter because I truly enjoyed my time in the game world and wanted it to continue. While watching the final cut scene I was not so secretly hoping my character would get dragged back into the land of Terraphage. I felt like there were still mysteries to discover; maybe there was another island hidden somewhere. I’ll definitely be playing through the game again at some point. The bottom line is Devolver Digital has another winner on its hands in Olija.

Véritable film d'aventure en Pixel Art, Olija a, par ses qualités esthétiques, son gameplay malin, dynamique, et sa narration très réussie, tout d'une prise d'exception pour le joueur en quête de dépaysement. Si ses qualités provoquent un coup de foudre, il faut aussi reconnaître que sa faible résistance et son caractère éphémère donnent du vague à l'âme.

Sin salirse en exceso de la fórmula original, Pang Adventures añade las novedades justas (armas, pompas...) para no ser "lo mismo". Sin duda, lo mejor es el cooperativo local, compartiendo Joy-Con con un amigo, en cualquiera de los tres modos de juego. Aunque su duración es discreta, si eres de los que te picas, tiene retos para seguir enganchado.

Olija is a short-lived odyssey, and it would’ve been great if there were additional difficulties or any sort of incentive to replay its brief, four-hour campaign. But as a bite-sized 2D action adventure, it leaves a very strong impression thanks to a magical harpoon that makes fighting, moving, and discovering secrets especially rewarding. Its combat in particular packs a surprising amount of depth and flexibility, even if its enemies and bosses never really stepped up and demanded that I engage with that depth to defeat them. Much like Faraday himself, I don’t see myself ever returning to Olija’s mysterious world, but it’s an adventure I won’t soon forget.

Gods Will Fall is a well-focused action-oriented dungeon-crawling soulslike with procedural generation. Only the procedural generation is on the difficulty, allowing for developers Clever Beans to have handcrafted each dungeon in a stunning hand-brushed art style and have each playthrough feel that bit different, as the increased difficulty of a particular dungeon brings new creatures, paths, and opportunities. While not perfect, some things like the rather barren overworld as well as some bugs standing out, the character development, emergent storytelling and tight combat does more than enough to let this stand out.
