World War Z is like gaming junk food: there are better, more appetizing options available, but sometimes you wanna sit down with something simpler. It isn’t overly ambitious, and plays to a single central gimmick, but it aces that core idea. You’ve seen and played better games than World War Z, but none quite feature the literal mountains of undead as seen here. The shooting, pacing, and enemy design are all competent enough to be enjoyable, but overcoming truly gigantic hordes of zombies is truly where the magic lies. It’s disappointing then to see the game dragged back, kicking and screaming, by a host of bugs and performance issues introduced by the GOTY Edition. World War Z: GOTY Edition has everything it needs to be a compelling AA darling: multiple engaging game modes, a solid progression loop, a well polished core gimmick, and competent sound and weapon design. But, much like its standout zombie swarms, the myriad amount of bugs can prove too much to handle. Once these issues are put to rest you’ll discover World War Z is a solid, entertaining zombie-killing adventure, but until then it may be best to bunker down and wait.

If we sound like a broken record criticising this VR conversion, that's because its central problem is so all-encompassing that it destroys the product. Sure, you could have fun with this if you're a committed fan of Five Nights at Freddy's and its lore, but we'd advise against it otherwise. As with many VR games, the immersion and novelty factor papers over the cracks of the limited gameplay. When that escapism is taken away, all that's left is a sub-par minigame collection that isn't even as good as the individual games it cribs from – and it's a lot more expensive, too. We get the impression that the sole reason this game exists is to capitalise on the fact that the Switch has such a large market share.

Minecraft Dungeons is a straightforward action RPG spinoff that doesn't try to be anything more than an accessible entry for existing fans of the franchise. The low asking price helps offset the areas where the game comes up short.

Minecraft Dungeons et typiquement le titre auquel nous nous attendions, à savoir un petit jeu bien fichu, pensé pour nourrir le Game Pass, capable de réunir enfants et parents. Sa plus grande force est de ne pas avoir le cube entre deux chaises. Un peu à la manière de Bleeding Edge, il sacrifie sur l'autel de l'accessibilité une profondeur de jeu qui aurait sûrement heurté sa cible. Cela ne rend pas l'expérience désagréable, bien au contraire. En se concentrant sur les rouages primaires du genre, les développeurs ont réussi à peaufiner l'essentiel. Nous regrettons surtout le fait que Mojang n'ait pas fait preuve de plus d'originalité. Avec une franchise telle que Minecraft, il y avait pourtant plein de mécaniques imaginables. Cependant, si vous appréciez un tant soit peu les Hack'n slash, vous passerez forcément du bon temps à l'intérieur de ces donjons bourrés de polygones. Quand bien même le contenu ne serait pas faramineux.
