Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown couldn't have brought back the series after its more than a decade-long hiatus in a better way. With an engaging story, well-crafted Metroidvania mechanics, and a touch of character-action games features in its combat system, Sargon's adventure will be remembered by fans for a long time, even with its minor issues.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown es una de las sorpresas más agradables que he recibido en los últimos tiempos: un metroidvania inspirado, duradero, desafiante y, al mismo tiempo, con un montón de capas de accesibilidad para hacerlo apto a un alto número de usuarios. Mantiene totalmente la esencia de la saga y la revitaliza, modernizando una jugabilidad plataformera y combativa en que Ubisoft Montpellier demuestra contar con un gran talento y experiencia. Tal vez no es el PoP que mucha gente esperaba, pero sí uno que hace honor a la licencia y que merece la pena por cada una de las horas que le dedicas. Sorprendente.

Turnip Boy Robs A Bank proves there is no rest for the wicked. Turning the series into a roguelite was not the wrong road for Turnip Boy. While not all the features of being a roguelite title weren’t implemented, I had a hell of a “thyme” with the game. Going in guns blazing, paired with the OST provided by James “Jake” Currier, was exhilarating in moments and more claiming and vibey in others. Finding my favorite weapons and talking to the colorful and sometimes disturbing cast of characters only added to that experience. The jokes and humor aren’t for everyone, but even looking past them, Snoozy Kazoo’s experiment paid off, leaving me anticipating Turnip Boy’s next federal crime.

Turnip Boy Robs A Bank understood what it wanted to be, an extension of the Turnip Boy world with refreshing new roguelite elements to spice up the combat. Everything from the bank setting, to the soundtrack, to the characters both new and old, hold up to the excellence that was the first game. However, some points have to be shaved off for the game’s ending, which feels drawn out and tedious.

Another Code sigue conteniendo una gran historia, y este remake hace que luzca mucho más y se escuche mucho mejor. Sin embargo, los puzles se resienten, se sienten viejos y el ritmo de la aventura se me ha hecho bastante lento. Aún así, es un pack perfecto para jugarlo arropado en una mantita y tomándose un rico té este invierno. La aventura de Ashley merece la pena ser contada, pero ojalá esta reconstrucción no solo adaptara puzles, sino que los reconvirtiera para que se sintieran tan frescos como los originales.

Fluide, rythmé comme il faut, maniable et disposant de multiples paramètres pour s’adapter à toutes les façons de jouer, Prince of Persia : The Lost Crown place la barre haut. S’appuyant sur les meilleures références du genre au risque de ne pas laisser virevolter sa touche personnelle, le soft coche toutes les cases du très bon action adventure platformer. Ubisoft signe un Metroidvania qui répond au cahier des charges, net, sans grosse bavure, mais également sans un petit quelque chose qui le rend aussi unique qu’un joyau légendaire. Si vous aimez le genre, foncez !

Bref, on aimerait que tous les remasters soient comme The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. Ici, Naughty Dog étoffe intelligemment le contenu du chef d'œuvre de la PS4, avec - déjà - des coulisses à tout-va (Lost Levels, commentaires audio) et surtout, un mode roguelite qui nous a franchement emballé. C’est tout simplement le prétexte parfait pour replonger dans l’univers et l’action viscérale de Part 2, avec une durée de vie à présent étoffée de 10h-15h. Même le petit boost graphique, en 4K Native, fait son effet - malgré un 30 FPS un petit peu décevant (même avec le VRR). Au final, un remaster qui ne se moque pas du tout de nous.

Dans la mouvance des titres d'exploration et narration où vous déambulez dans des couloirs souvent similaires, In rays of the Light ne révolutionne pas le genre, mais parvient à apporter une touche de frisson sans jamais montrer directement l'horreur des événements. Rien de surnaturel cependant, juste la violence de l'homme envers lui-même, poussé dans ses derniers retranchements pour tenter de survivre. Une expérience qui mérite le coup d'œil tant le soin apporté aux graphismes et à l'ambiance est impressionnant. Et même si le résultat sur Switch n'atteint pas la beauté des autres supports, vous serez transporté malgré tout, en prenant soin d'ignorer volontairement quelques effets de lumière approximatifs.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a competent, action-packed metroidvania that mostly balances the rule of cool with exciting combat and responsive platforming. If you like over-the-top shonen anime, it’s worth checking out for the boss fights alone. (Review Policy)

el regreso de la saga al género de las plataformas 2D en forma de metroidvania moderno nos deja una experiencia retadora y en ocasiones desesperante, pero siempre deliciosa.

Dimostrando di non aver perso il “tocco magico” dopo un periodo trascorso sviluppando giochi mobile (Valiant Hearts: Coming Home, Rayman Mini) e uno sparatutto per la realtà virtuale (Space Junkies), Ubisoft Montpellier è riuscita a tirare fuori dal cilindro un buon metroidvania che segna l’atteso ritorno di una storica saga videoludica. Come già asserito più volte, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown non ha nulla da invidiare ai migliori esponenti del genere sul versante del gameplay, facendosi promotore di un sistema di combattimento dinamico e momenti dell’avventura in cui trovano terreno fertile sezioni plaftorm architettate con criterio, sebbene il bilanciamento generale non sia sempre impeccabile. In mezzo, oltre a una distribuzione intelligente delle varie fasi di gioco, brillano anche le numerose opzioni legate all’accessibilità che si preoccupano di andare incontro alle diverse esigenze dei giocatori. A non essere sempre all'altezza del pedigree dello studio francese, purtroppo, è soprattutto la visione artistica, qui non particolarmente ispirata sia per quanto riguarda la caratterizzazione dei personaggi, sia in termini narrativi.
