Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a slick return to the roots of this franchise that serves up clever 2.5D action wrapped up in a delightful art style and satisfying story. There's a smart balance here between old-school levels of action and challenge, moreish combat, and neat puzzles, all mixed with accessibility options and fine-tuning that open things up to newcomers and casual players. We knew Ubisoft Montpellier was a pair of safe hands and the team hasn't let us down, serving up the first must-play of 2024 in a Switch port that absolutely does the business.

Fluide, rythmé, souvent très inspiré et reposant sur un vrai sens du timing pour les phases de plateformes comme les combats, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown est une excellente surprise. Le côté Metroidvania est très (très) impressionnant, avec en prime des combats très dynamiques, et globalement un challenge plutôt relevé, qui fera appel à tous les sens du joueur. Certes, on pourra pester face à un côté un peu “jeu mobile” par moments (visuellement parlant), avec une DA un brin discutable ainsi qu’un certain manque de souplesses parfois, mais le plaisir de jeu est à l’image du Mont Qaf, à savoir IMMENSE, sublimé qui plus est par une ambiance sonore juste extraordinaire.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown puts its best foot forward with rewarding and satisfying gameplay at its core. Combining the series' 2D past with the time-bending powers from later games, this Metroidvania is a brilliant blend that brings the franchise back in a fresh new way. While it can sometimes look a little underwhelming, and the sheer size of the game threatens to slow its own momentum, the fluid, challenging platforming and combat are so fun that any shortcomings fade into the background. This is an overall great action adventure with a lot to offer.

Another Code: Recollection's biggest addition to the original DS and Wii experiences, besides the slick new graphics and fully explorable 3D environs, is its all-new navigation and puzzle aids. With the obtuse nature of some puzzles now a triviality — should you find yourself stumped — there's now no difficulty spikes or annoying moments to hold you back from a two-part tale that's very much worth diving into for fans of slow-burn point-and-click titles. Their pacing could have done with some more work, but this collection is as good a return to Ashley's world as fans could have hoped for.

In definitiva, Another Code Recollection è un prodotto che porta con sé due autentici classici del passato, finora persi tra le pieghe del tempo. Le due avventure grafiche sviluppate dalla ormai defunta Cing, pur non potendo più contare sulle idee di gameplay introdotte dalle versioni originali, si confermano ancora oggi come notevoli esponenti del genere, specie nel caso del primo capitolo. Il nuovo comparto tecnico e una serie di accorgimenti sotto il profilo ludico e narrativo rendono questa riedizione un valido modo per (ri)scoprire la storia di Ashley Mizuki Robbins.

Ci saremmo aspettati di più da Another Code: Recollection. Non parliamo di un gioco mal realizzato, brutto da vedere o con problemi di natura tecnica, sia chiaro. Grazie al carisma della protagonista e qualche colpo di scena ben piazzato, chi cerca un'avventura non troppo complessa con cui passare una dozzina di ore (ri)scoprirà una coppia di perle del catalogo della Nintendo che fu. Allo stesso tempo, tuttavia, è inevitabile provare una certa delusione considerando il livello globale della complessità e dell'originalità degli enigmi proposti. Fortunatamente, almeno in termini di ritmo sono stati fatti i giusti tagli e le giuste modifiche per rendere la trama enormemente più godibile. Another Code: Recollection, insomma, è più indicato ai neofiti a caccia di un'avventura grafica non troppo impegnativa, che non ai nostalgici che vogliono ripercorrere il viale dei ricordi, ricordi opportunamente modificati e rivisti beninteso. In questo caso, forse, è meglio recuperare direttamente i vecchi capitoli su DS e Wii.

Malgré des efforts conséquents pour présenter la licence sous son meilleur jour, Another Code: Recollection souffre inévitablement des contraintes de son âge et de fondations instables. Ces éléments l’empêchent de dépasser le statut d’un jeu correct sans plus. Les joueurs occasionnels ou ceux à la recherche d’une aventure divertissante y trouveront leur compte. Toutefois, un œil un peu plus critique ou exigeant dans le domaine relèvera rapidement les défauts qui rendent l’expérience peu mémorable. La refonte visuelle et sonore est certes impressionnante, mais on regrette que le gameplay et la progression n’aient pas bénéficié du même degré d’attention et de modernisation.

Looking upon the whole package, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is an excellent upgrade. In many ways it's a sublime treat for fans of the series, with behind-the-scenes content that we lapped up, a survival mode worth the purchase price on its own, and small, albeit present visual and performative upgrades to one of the best games to come out of the PS4 generation. But more importantly, it's the perfect package for those looking to experience Ellie's tale for the first time; this divisive sequel still packs the same visceral punch that it did in 2020. Now partnered up with the Part 1 remake, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is the best way to experience this Naughty Dog masterpiece.

Dovendo dare un giudizio complessivo a Vertigo 2 vanno fatte due considerazioni distinte e fondamentali. Da una parte abbiamo un gioco fatto da un comparto artistico ispirato, una grafica convincente per quanto non spinga al limite l'hardware di PlayStation 5 e PSVR 2, un gameplay riuscito che beneficia di un arsenale sufficientemente variegato e di un design dei livelli adeguato all'esperienza veicolata. Dall'altra ci troviamo di fronte ad un prodotto che in questa trasposizione evidenzia diversi problemi tecnici. Nessuno di quelli riscontrati durante le sessioni di gioco ci ha costretto al riavvio della partita, ma spesso e volentieri abbiamo dovuto ricalibrare il visore o richiamare il menù di pausa. Una scocciatura che ha in parte rovinato il buon ritmo che caratterizza la progressione dell'avventura. Ciò che è certo, è che nelle dieci ore di avventura proposta da Vertigo 2, dato che conferma tra l'altro una buonissima longevità, ci siamo divertiti alla grande e siamo stati estremamente felici di rispolverare il nostro visore di Sony per immergerci in un'epopea sci-fi che non si prende sul serio neanche per un secondo.

The Last of Us Parte II Remastered A tre anni dalla release date originaria, The Last of Us Parte II è ancora un capolavoro epocale e questa Remastered migliora ulteriormente il lavoro di Naughty Dog. Accorgimenti tecnici ed introduzioni ludiche, tra cui gli interessanti livelli perduti e l'entusiasmante modalità No Return, costituiscono i selling points della riedizione, che consolida ulteriormente il carattere imperdibile della creatura di Neil Druckmann. Se avete giocato fino allo sfinimento il titolo originario, la Remastered potrebbe non essere un acquisto prioritario. Se invece amate visceralmente la serie o, ancor di più, se non avete ancora giocato Parte II, beh, il momento è giunto.
