Kunitsu-gami es una genial mezcla de Tower Defense, acción y estrategia. Cuando lo vi por primera vez me atrajo su estilo visual, inspirado en el folclore y la mitología japonesa, y su apuesta por la originalidad. Nunca he sido, sin embargo, muy fan del Tower Defense, por lo que no sabía si este juego sería para mí. Tras jugarlo, me rindo completamente ante su propuesta. Capcom ha sabido equilibrar todas sus mecánicas para que no pierdan profundidad y, a su vez, resulten atractivas para todo tipo de jugadores. A poco que te interese, no lo dejes pasar.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, come dicevamo, è una bella boccata d'aria fresca per la sua capacità di creare una commistione tra diversi generi che, in maniera molto semplice e lineare, ci mette nei panni di un guerriero chiamato a sbaragliare orde di demoni. L'unione tra il tower defense e l'action è premiata nel momento in cui sembrerà di vivere due esperienze nel medesimo contesto, con le truppe chiamate a seguire i vostri ordini e voi intenti a eseguire una vera e propria danza di combattimenti, quasi a voler emulare le movenze di Sekiro. In un'ambientazione tipicamente giapponese, tra creature demoniache che hanno il retrogusto di Nioh, Capcom riesce a creare un monte Kafuku impregnato di tradizione giapponese, nella quale si perderanno tutti gli appassionati di un mondo che affascina e che continua a sorpredere. Con una maggior accortezza a quella che è la componente narrativa e una maggior varietà degli ambienti creati avremmo davvero avuto tra le nostre mani una perla pronta a risplendere.

De par son univers atypique, SCHiM amène un petit vent frais sur la scène indépendante, tout en parvenant à raconter une petite histoire muette. Malheureusement, et même s'il fait preuve de bonnes idées, le gameplay montre rapidement ses limites et force à enchainer des niveaux qui peinent à se renouveler. Le titre imaginé par Ewoud van der Werf et Nils Slijkerman s'apprécie ainsi à petites doses pour qui souhaite éviter l'écœurement, et avec un peu de rejouabilité pour qui souhaite en dénicher toutes les subtilités.

Darkest Dungeon 2 may not be the sequel that ardent fans of the original wanted it to be, but its unique approach to that hard-edged, brutal roguelike gameplay is compelling all the same. A memorable art style, tons of replayability, and lots of mechanical depth make this one an easy recommendation to any roguelike fans, even if it can be a little grindy at times. If you’ve been looking for yet another tough roguelike to add to your collection, Darkest Dungeon 2 is certainly worth your time and your money.

SCHiM est une production que l’on pourrait qualifier d’attachante. Cet esprit fait main porté par Ewoud van der Werf nous capte, tant sur son esthétique et son ambiance que sur son concept original, amusant et régressif. Malheureusement, malgré la légère diversité des puzzles et des règles de gameplay, celui-ci finit par montrer ses limites au point de laisser place à plusieurs moments d’ennui. Avec son prix de 24,99€ et sa demi-douzaine d’heures de jeu, l’expérience reste intéressante et recommandable. Pour la découverte, la chasse aux collectibles, sa retraversée avec des paramètres de difficulté ou son potentiel de speedrunning, SCHiM mérite le coup d’œil.

SCHiM is a wildly inventive platformer with a unique minimalist aesthetic, which is bolstered by creative gameplay and a steadfast focus on the human experience. I was surprised by the amount of emotional depth hidden within SCHiM’s shadow hopping platformer shell and appreciated becoming a small part of this world and its inhabitants. Though the premise is simple, SCHiM keeps things unique by constantly adding new challenges which utilizes light and darkness in creative ways, and I found myself consistently intrigued by where the story would go next.
