I couldn’t stop smiling as each melon, shoe, playing card, traffic cone, and house satisfyingly snapped into place on my whirling clump of stuff as I rolled across time and space. The only time Once Upon A Katamari broke my delirious grin was when it tickled my ears with riffs so funky the bassist practically reached through my TV’s speakers and slapped a stank face out of me (and that’s meant as a compliment). This appropriately ostentatious, energetic return is the best the Katamari series has been since the PlayStation 2 era. With cleverly implemented tweaks to the ever-satisfying gauntlet of rolling delights, a stellar soundtrack, and offbeat charm in spades, there will always be room on my hard drive for Once Upon A Katamari.

Once Upon a Katamari parte dall'idea semplice e geniale della serie e la sposta attraverso il tempo, per offrire uno spaccato esilarante della Storia umana. Dentro ci sono tante idee per variare una formula che, di base, resta sempre uguale, ma proprio grazie all'estro e alle trovate assurde è costantemente spassosa, cullata da musiche irresistibili e da una confezione straordinariamente giapponese. Se avete amato questo brand in passato, questo ritorno vi farà fischiettare allegri per giorni; se non ci avete mai giocato, è davvero un buon momento per dargli una possibilità e scoprire quanto può essere divertente rotolare sopra un gruppo di filosofi greci o attraverso un branco di velociraptor.

Once Upon A Katamari marks a triumphant return for the quirky series, blending nostalgic gameplay with thoughtful modern updates. It embraces the chaotic charm that made Katamari Damacy a cult classic while introducing smoother controls, era-hopping levels, and new collectibles that keep the experience fresh. While not every new feature hits the mark, this long-awaited sequel mostly sticks the cosmic landing.

Dispatch est désormais le jeu narratif épisodique de référence pour définir ce qui se fait de mieux dans le genre. Une superbe direction artistique, une mise en scène dynamique et un casting très solide viennent sublimer la proposition et nous offrir une histoire de super héros assez classique, mais pleine de cœur. Mais ce qu’on retiendra surtout, c’est sa capacité à ajouter une surcouche de gameplay de gestion qui s’intègre avec beaucoup de cohérence de cette aventure.

Plants vs Zombies Replanted réussit techniquement son pari de moderniser un classique sans le dénaturer. Les graphismes HD font du bien aux yeux, les nouveaux modes apportent du challenge et le multijoueur local apporte un vrai plus ici. Le jeu reste aussi addictif qu’à sa sortie et continue de proposer ce mélange parfait entre stratégie accessible et gameplay nerveux. Malheureusement, le positionnement tarifaire plante l’ensemble. Demander vingt euros pour une version remasterisée quand une (moins complète certes, mais solide) alternative mobile gratuite existe semble audacieux. Le support approximatif des écrans ultra-larges et le gameplay manette perfectible n’arrangent rien. Replanted vise clairement les nostalgiques prêts à payer pour revivre l’expérience sur grand écran avec quelques bonus, mais peine à convaincre au-delà de cette niche. Si vous n’avez jamais touché à Plants vs Zombies et que vous voulez absolument jouer sur PC, Replanted constitue la meilleure porte d’entrée. Pour tous les autres, le téléchargement gratuit sur mobile représente une option nettement plus raisonnable qui vous permettra de profiter de l’essentiel.

Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted adds new vigor to a tower defense classic that still holds up 16 years later. It focuses on consolidating all the content from its many different versions into one package, while also introducing some decent new modes, a few quality-of-life improvements, and inconsistently updated visuals. Some of its attempts to remaster the original come with questionable design and stylistic choices, which can occasionally undermine its otherwise commendable updates. Still, Replanted provides a good way to get introduced to or re-acquainted with one of the quirkiest puzzle-strategy games of the 2000s.

Line up ladies and gentlemen, and see the rare example of a sequel to a special game that knew just what to tweak, and what to leave well enough alone. The meditative motions of cleaning, the silly sense of humor, and the sense of satisfaction. There's enough here to justify slapping a big old 2 on the end of the title, but the key mechanic and feeling of the first game lives on.
