The Many Pieces of Mr. Coo is a short game – it took me just under two hours to complete with only a single peek at the hint book. The first half was quite enjoyable, but eventually it became clear why Mr. Rodriguez himself was dissatisfied with the final product, as the second half makes even this relative brevity drag, until I longed to be back playing the beginning with its bold animations and uniquely weird situations and characters. There are certainly things to appreciate here, but the best of them are always in how The Many Pieces of Mr. Coo looks rather than how it plays. The story ends on a cliffhanger, so let's hope that any future endeavour will itself be able to pick up the pieces and create something in the spirit of the original, just with more refined mechanics as its creator always intended.

Pour l'instant, Mortal Kombat 1 est un épisode déstabilisant, et les années à venir nous diront si les choix opérés étaient salutaires. Posant drastiquement son rythme de jeu et apportant une nouvelle mécanique importante sur le papier (les kaméos), l'expérience semble pourtant s'apparenter à un recul. Moins d'interactions et de vie dans les décors, panel de personnages moins engageant, mode Invasions relativement futile... Reste un mode Histoire une fois de plus à la hauteur. Même les graphismes, déjà impressionnants sur Mortal Kombat 11, donnent parfois l'impression de stagner (voire régresser si on aborde la mise en scène). Ce constat global laisse dubitatif pour une licence qui s'est toujours vendue sur la base du divertissement – et à grands coups de DLC. Désormais et contrairement à ce que pourrait laisser penser l'arrivée des kaméos, Mortal Kombat parait sacrifier le spectacle au profit des combos (et peut-être de l'e-sport)... Dans un sens, la démarche est osée et même existentielle – le retour en arrière s'étend jusqu'à la réalisation, avec une caméra et une sobriété qui rendent hommage aux premiers volets. Reste à savoir si tout cela était judicieux. En essayant de remettre à plat la licence, Ed Boon/NetherRealm se retrouve en réalité confronté au même problème que Liu Kang au sein du jeu : peut-on supprimer le passé ? Rien n'est moins sûr. Comment conseiller ce nouveau volet tout en sachant que son grandiose prédécesseur – plus accessible, "speed" et spectaculaire – est fréquemment en promotion pour une vingtaine d'euros, en édition maous et avec un contenu autrement plus fourni ? C'est tout le problème du pop-corn : on peut s'en contenter, mais encore faut-il que l'on soit bien servi.

A force de sortir ses jeux tous les quatre ans en moyenne, on finit par se demander si cela ne joue pas des tours à NetherRealm Studios et Warner Bros. Games. Malgré ses qualités et les quelques bons moments éprouvés sur ce nouvel opus, Mortal Kombat 1 fait office de régression à certains égards. Peu d’évolution dans le gameplay, prise en main exécrable sorti du support manette, roster de base et contenu déblocable en retrait par rapport à l’opus précédent, système d’apprentissage mal fichu et pauvre pour découvrir le plein potentiel des personnages, on aurait aimé que les développeurs prennent quelques années supplémentaires pour nous revenir avec un Mortal Kombat efficace en tout point. Certains diront que le système de Kaméo apporte à la série une certaine fraîcheur, mais il s’agit ni plus ni moins que d’une version aboutie du travail entamé dans les itérations précédentes lors des combats sous conditions impliquant la présence d’un personnage en assist. Heureusement, Mortal Kombat 1 a pour lui sa réalisation soignée et son contenu solo, plus précisément, histoire et Invasions sympathiques et divertissants. Bien sûr, le online fait office de figure de proue et saura contenter les fans de la franchise, notamment avec le retour des combos à rallonge et aériens, concept disparu depuis Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

Phantom Liberty est tout ce qu’on attendait d’une extension de Cyberpunk 2077, si ce n’est plus encore. Ce techno-thriller plonge les joueurs dans un récit haletant qui aura un impact sans précédent sur l’univers du jeu. Le quartier en ruines de Dogtown n’est pas en reste avec son atmosphère post-guerre où la loi du plus fort règne en maître. Riche en contenu pour une vingtaine d’heures de jeu, ce DLC conclut magistralement l’épopée dystopique de V à Night City.

Mortal Kombat 1 Mortal Kombat 1 segna un punto importante per la storia del franchise. Mettendo da parte molte idee e caratteristiche dei capitoli precedenti, il nuovo capitolo del picchiaduro NetherRealm rivoluziona il proprio impianto ludico pur nel rispetto della propria tradizione più consolidata. Il prodotto che ne deriva è, con ogni probabilità, il migliore della serie per divertimento, profondità e stratificazione grazie al rinnovato flow delle lotte nonché all'importanza dei personaggi Kameo (il cui bilanciamento andrà valutato sulla distanza). Al contempo, sorprende vedere un po' di leggerezza nella rifinitura del prodotto, tra modalità ben arguite ma un po' ripetitive e lapsus sparsi nelle opzioni multiplayer. Al netto di queste défaillance, anche Mortal Kombat sale di diritto sul carro dei trionfatori del 2023. Lies of P es un Soulslike que te va a gustar, te lo aseguro. Tiene unos diseños de niveles excelentes y divertidos, una estupenda exploración y personalización de tu personaje. También es de elogiar su bonito apartado técnico y también el sonoro. Sin embargo, la continua sensación de déjà vu me ha sacado muchísimo de la experiencia. Copiar no es malo, pero sí dejarse devorar por la réplica. También hay varios jefes que son para darles de comer aparte… Sobre todo porque no existe la opción de invocar a un colega para que te ayude, solo a un PNJ con una IA bastante tontorrona. Le falta un pelín de refinamiento para ser recomendado sin un ápice de duda, pero es un juego divertido; cruel, pero divertido. Por eso, pese a que tenga muchos peros, con él, te lo recomiendo, porque está a un parche de ser un juego excelente.

Lies of P è la sorpresa che non ti aspetti, un colpo di genio sul piano artistico che spunta fuori dal nulla e ti travolge, pur rimanendo intrappolato in una prigione d'oro fatta di dogmi apparentemente imprescindibili per un sottogenere, quello dei soulslike, che nell'opera di Round8 Studio viene rappresentato nella maniera più tradizionale possibile, senza alcuna novità strutturale. Non c'è dubbio che il gioco riprenda i classici di FromSoftware, ma lo fa con una competenza incredibile ed è davvero soltanto la mancanza di concreti spunti originali, insieme a un level design ancorato al passato e di qualità variabile, a impedire al titolo diretto da Cho Ji-Won di portarsi a casa una valutazione ancora più alta.

The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails es un AJRPG divertido. No es el mejor de su género ni tampoco la remasterización que se le ha hecho es la más acertada. Sin embargo, por sus simpáticos personajes y su ritmo de juego, sabrá ganarse el afecto de los nostálgicos de PSP. Además, siempre es de agradecer contar con un título de esta querida saga que nunca llegó a nuestro territorio.

Not even attempting to hide the massive influence Bloodborne has had on it, Lies of P is a solid imitation of the game developed by FromSoftware. While it lacks the same combat and world design finesse of its illustrious inspiration, the action role-playing game by NEOWIZ is among the most accomplished soulslike game released this year, thanks to its dark retelling of the story of Pinocchio, combat and character customization tweaks and great enemy design.

Overall, there is plenty to explore within the confines of its vast yet linear areas and it rarely has a dull moment with plenty of enemy variety, incredible boss fights, and some truly spectacular visuals. If you’re a fan of From Software, then I expect you to now be a fan of Lies of P as it has all the right notes and feels like From Software themselves have been in the backend having a tinker on a fresh I.P and for that, we can only praise the solid work put in from Neowiz Games and Round8 Studio.

Con Mortal Kombat 1 NetherRealm è riuscita a sorprenderci sia in positivo che in negativo: dal punto di vista del gameplay questo è chiaramente il capitolo con più potenziale della serie, oltre che uno dei più divertenti in assoluto, e riesce a mantenere un certo equilibrio generale nonostante un bilanciamento ben lontano dalla perfezione. Contenutisticamente, invece, il gioco è piuttosto piatto, e la modalità invasioni ci è parsa in particolare piuttosto affrettata e ripetitiva. Nel complesso, comunque, si tratta di un picchiaduro di alta qualità, assolutamente da giocare per qualunque fan del marchio, e con ogni probabilità capace di convertire anche i più scettici. Ora resta solo da vedere se Ed Boon e i suoi riusciranno a domare il cavallo pazzo che loro stessi hanno creato gestendo a dovere i futuri update e i personaggi DLC previsti. Speriamo di sì, perché a nostro parere questo Mortal Kombat ha ancora notevoli possibilità di evolversi.

Mortal Kombat 1 is one of the franchise’s most bloody-entertaining entries to date, offering up refined action, smartly revamped fighters, and a story mode that delivers a surprisingly-coherent plot and plenty of blockbuster thrills. A lack of compelling modes and meaningful character customization does hurt, but Mortal Kombat 1 should be a heart-ripping hit with fans even if the overall package is slightly anemic.

Mortal Kombat 1 on Nintendo Switch manages to deliver this superb game's Story and Towers modes in a state that's playable, but only if you've got plenty of patience. There are frame rate issues, big resolution dips, input and timing problems related to performance drops, missing content, game-breaking bugs in Invasion mode, long loading times, and unresponsive menus. If you are a huge Mortal Kombat fan whose only option is Switch, you may be able to press through all of this. However, if you have any other option, we suggest you stay away from this one for now.
