It’s said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. LEGO has Mega Bloks. E.T. has Mac and Me. Now Forza Horizon has The Crew Motorfest. To be fair, Motorfest is a robust racer with a confident sense of style, a quality arcade handling model, and a long list of generally well-planned events right out of the box. However, the shift to a smaller map has seen it lose a part of its old identity, boats and aircraft feel like they’ve been sidelined, and some of its event Playlists work a lot better than others. Ultimately, The Crew Motorfest is a little more Ice Ice Baby and a little less Under Pressure. It’s a catchy enough copy, but it ain’t exactly back with a brand new invention.

Aun con aspectos cuestionables como la moneda premium, The Crew Motorfest derrocha estilo y destellos de calidad, con una sólida propuesta que puede conectar con los amantes de la velocidad más ecléctica (tan pronto estás en el barro como con monoplazas). Lástima que aspectos como el pobre multijugador, o el always online, afeen el resultado final.

The Crew Motorfest is easily the best entry in the series to date and serves as a new launching point for the franchise. It has needed an identity of its own for a long time and while it may seem odd, going back to what made the first couple of Forza Horizon games work well while keeping some of The Crew 2’s vehicle variety intact winds up being a winning combination. Every race type is executed well, with the street racing and open-wheel being true standouts, while the visual design shines and accents the audio with a slick soundtrack and impressive sound design.

In spite of the occasional bug and basic gameplay systems, Ad Infinitum manages to capture my attention through its imaginative exploration of the horror of battle. Delving between the shell-shocked home of the Von Schmitts and the ash swept trenches of war was a unique perspective on the horror genre that I found to be both poignant and well worth exploring.

Ad Infinitum Anche se non innova in alcun modo il genere "horror psicologico", Ad Infinitum presenta una storia ben scritta, che riesce ad esplorare abilmente i traumi della guerra del protagonista. La mancanza di combattimenti convenzionali limita tantissimo gli incontri con i nemici, i quali finiscono per diventare una sorta di estensione degli enigmi presenti nel gioco, ma il design di queste creature è meraviglioso, soprattutto dei boss, davvero grotteschi. Manca un po' di rifinitura qua e là e il frame rate è fin troppo ballerino. Tuttavia, per i fan del genere, il titolo di Nacon e Hekate può sicuramente essere un'esperienza più che sufficiente da vivere in prima persona. Monster Hunter Now è chiaramente una grossa semplificazione della meccanica standard, ma il "trattamento Niantic" in questo caso funziona sorprendentemente bene. Laddove la serie classica richiede una grossa dose di abilità al giocatore, con le capacità in combattimento che rappresentano un elemento fondamentale del gameplay, Monster Hunter Now si affida soprattutto a una semplice meccanica basata sul tempismo corretto e input basilari, ma la vicinanza allo spirito originale è comunque notevole. Al di là dell'ottima veste grafica, che ci cala perfettamente nelle atmosfere tipiche di Monster Hunter, il meccanismo di progressione attraverso conquista, modifica e upgrade di nuovo equipaggiamento è probabilmente il tratto che unisce questa particolare esperienza mobile a una serie che può essere considerata "hardcore", dunque un po' agli antipodi. Il gameplay super semplificato può annoiare il giocatore più esigente, ma è notevole vedere come la tipica formula dei titoli Niantic si adatti in maniera perfetta a questa serie, restituendo un titolo piacevole e quasi assuefacente da giocare in piccole dosi quotidiane.
