Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora features a stunning alien world to explore with a refreshingly uncluttered approach to navigation, countless enemy bases to destroy and Na’vi clan sidequests to complete, and no shortage of exotic flora and fauna to harvest and hunt. However, its combat is pretty one-dimensional, its mission design is a bit on the repetitive side, and its environment is generally lacking in any major surprises beyond visual splendor, meaning that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a solid shooting adventure that’s more inside the box than truly out of this world.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora ha il grande merito di catapultarci nel mondo creato da James Cameron, raccontandoci una storia canonica che si svolge in una zona inedita di Pandora ma che possiamo percepire come autentica grazie alla cura e all'attenzione che Massive Entertainment ha profuso nella sua realizzazione. Si tratta però dell'unico aspetto davvero eccellente all'interno di una produzione che prometteva meraviglie (quadrupla A?) e che invece dimostra ben presto di non avere grandissime idee.

Avatar Frontiers of Pandora è un'opera davvero complessa da analizzare: se da un lato non possiamo che apprezzare la volontà di provare a restituire ai fan un'esperienza il più vicina possibile al vivere i film in prima persona, dall'altro le eccessive ingenuità sottolineano, qualora ce ne fosse bisogno, che un videogioco è un medium ben diverso da una produzione cinematografica. Le problematiche di gameplay sono infatti tali da far scemare il divertimento di chiunque non sia un fan sfegatato di questo franchise: un vero peccato, perché le premesse per un tie-in di elevata qualità c'erano tutte. Non si tratta affatto di un brutto gioco, ma allo stesso tempo non è neanche un titolo memorabile e, se non si interverrà a dovere con aggiornamenti legati anche alla sua spigolosa componente tecnica, rischierà a maggior ragione di essere dimenticato in poco tempo.

Arizona Sunshine 2 convence con su acción descerebrada, su tontísimo humor y la relación entre Buddy y el protagonista. Puede que no innove, que tenga defectos técnicos y que todos sus trucos se hayan visto antes, pero lo que hace, lo hace de manera muy entretenida: es casi imposible aburrirse con él.

Time and time again, Arizona Sunshine 2 expertly ramps up the pressure of oncoming hordes of zombies and then rewards you with spectacular gore when your bullets and hatchets connect with rotten faces. Its VR shooting and relatively complex reloading mean you always have to be on your toes and thinking about how many bullets are left in your guns as you blast your way through a lengthy, occasionally poignant story about a man and his new four-legged best buddy. The variety of enemy types is pretty limited for a 15-plus-hour game, but there’s enough light puzzle-solving and climbing mixed in to keep it moving along, and the physics glitches provide as much humor as the one-liners and co-op antics.
