Sonic Dream Team packs a surprising amount of fun into a limited number of levels. By having you complete a diverse set of missions within them, it manages to keep things feeling fresh from start to finish even as you play through the same areas numerous times. Its missions are engaging enough that I went back to finish off the handful I’d missed as soon as I conquered Eggman. While the music and story presentation could have been better, and the touchscreen controls aren’t ideal as the difficulty increases toward the end, Sonic Dream Team has still sped onto my list of favorite 3D platformers I’ve played in quite some time.

Considerando i molti alti e bassi attraversati dalla serie, Sonic Dream Team potrebbe trovare posto tra i capitoli della serie principale e non sfigurerebbe rispetto a molti altri. Bisogna considerare che si tratta di una particolare interpretazione del platform 3D classico, che si pone in un punto intermedio tra la declinazione mobile in stile endless runner e il gioco a piattaforme più strutturato e complesso, più vicino a quest'ultimo che all'altro. Il risultato è un'esperienza di Sonic semplificata, ma che esegue alla perfezione l'imperativo originale del "gotta go fast", cercando in tutti i modi di non rallentare la corsa del giocatore anche attraverso un design dei livelli costruito per essere una sorta di ottovolante e un sistema di controllo accessibile. Sonic Dream Team scorre via velocissimo, anche troppo in fretta a dire il vero, sebbene non manchino strade alternative e personaggi differenti con cui tornare ad esplorare i suoi sogni.

Loin d'être révolutionnaire, cette suite parvient cependant à peaufiner une formule originelle un peu légère, mais plutôt efficace. Reste que le prix à 50 euros minimum fait tiquer...

Worldless is een hele toffe game die op het eerste oog simpel lijkt maar door de unieke stijl van combat toch een behoorlijke uitdaging kan blijken. Voeg hier een prachtige vormgeving en een betoverende soundtrack aan toe en je heb een unieke game die je niet meer los laat.

Time and time again, Arizona Sunshine 2 expertly ramps up the pressure of oncoming hordes of zombies and then rewards you with spectacular gore when your bullets and hatchets connect with rotten faces. Its VR shooting and relatively complex reloading mean you always have to be on your toes and thinking about how many bullets are left in your guns as you blast your way through a lengthy, occasionally poignant story about a man and his new four-legged best buddy. The variety of enemy types is pretty limited for a 15-plus-hour game, but there’s enough light puzzle-solving and climbing mixed in to keep it moving along, and the physics glitches provide as much humor as the one-liners and co-op antics.

Arizona Sunshine 2 is an A-grade VR shooter with a B-movie plot. The main character isn’t that loveable, but the gunplay sure is. It’s worth playing for the action alone—you just might cringe every now and then. (Review Policy)

Born of Bread est un jeu intéressant de par son univers, mais qui souffre constamment de la comparaison avec la franchise Paper Mario, la faute au manque d'idées novatrices. En plus de rater l'opportunité de se forger sa propre personnalité, le jeu de WildArts Studio s'enferme dans des mécaniques qui peinent à convaincre, la faute notamment à une caméra problématique, et un système de combat trop simpliste et répétitif. Reste des personnages attachants et des décors qui font leur petit effet, pour une aventure pas désagréable mais bien trop basique dans son ensemble.

Arizona Sunshine 2 è semplicemente tutto ciò che ci aspettavamo. Un sequel che non tradisce il primo capitolo e che cerca di migliore, con l’introduzione di una serie di novità in grado di poter aiutare i giocatori ad apprezzare ancora di più il titolo. L’opera di Vertigo Games è un buon gioco, p perfettamente riuscito, che convince ma che allo stesso tempo inquadra la crisi della realtà virtuale, ancora ancorata a titoli, generi e produzioni che richiamano nel design e nel gameplay i primissimi esperimenti che abbiamo visto negli anni passati. Se avete amato il primo capitolo sicuramente non potete esimervi dal comprarlo: sarà come rivedere un vecchio amico, con un nuovo taglio di capelli e qualche tatuaggio in più. Per tutti gli altri, beh, se avete voglia di uno shooter-arcade sapete cosa inserire nelle vostre wishlist.

A Highland Song has so much heart, it’s hard not to find something to love. I was drawn into the game due to the rhythm based traversal for running up the hills. With music from Laurence Chapman, Talisk and Fourth Moon, I found myself running up and down hills just to get the songs perfect. The story also has such a sweet progression, each hint drawing you closer and closer to the truth of it all. Plus, with how much there is to explore and the time mechanic, the replayability is insane given the cost of the game. From the art style to the music to the adventure itself, it’s easy to get lost in the Highland Song.

A Highland Song è un videogioco dal forte valore culturale: riesce a raccontare la natura suggestiva eppure spietata delle Highlands, mescolando ai loro scenari la storia di una protagonista capace di meravigliarsi, di dubitare e, un dettaglio alla volta, di farci scoprire di più su questa regione. La commistione di generi funziona piuttosto bene e dopo una lunga salita è bello rilassarsi con un momento musicale. Contemporaneamente, però, la nuova fatica di Inkle vede nel proprio comparto ludico la sua parte meno riuscita, con controlli insensatamente ostili e un level design che, pur trovando ragion d'essere nella diegesi dell'opera, non ha la forza di supportare fino in fondo la volontà degli sviluppatori di spingere a giocare più volte l'avventura.
