Atari e SneakyBox decidono di portare Days of Doom, un titolo mobile, su console e PC. L’operazione di migrazione, però, non è semplicemente un porting ma regala al nuovo titolo elementi totalmente nuovi, lasciando fondamentalmente inalterata solamente l’ambientazione generale e la grafica in stile flash (all’apparenza poco curata). In un mondo post apocalittico popolato di zombie, predoni e rettiliani (tornati per l’occasione dopo secoli di vita sotto la superficie), un manipolo di eroi tenta di raggiungere Sanctuary, l’ultimo luogo sicuro sulla Terra. Per questo motivo la nostra avventura parte sempre dal nostro accampamento, da migliorare per avere maggiori risorse, dal quale dovremo partire e, di tappa in tappa, ostacolo dopo ostacolo, tentare di conquistare la salvezza. Ogni viaggio è sempre differente e vede una combinazione di luoghi in cui riposare, piccoli intermezzi narrativi in cui saremo chiamati a operare delle scelte e scontri contro diverse tipologie di avversari. I combattimenti a turni, nonostante la struttura generale a volte troppo ripetitiva, sono il vero cuore del gioco. Su un terreno di scontro costruito come una scacchiera, dovremo far muovere i nostri personaggi, decidendo come attaccare. Un gameplay che far respirare strategia e tattica in ogni istante e in cui il livello di sfida è stimolante fin dalle prime battute. In definitiva, nonostante qualche pecca generale, è un titolo molto ben costruito e che dimostra come Atari voglia tornare in grande stile nel settore videoludico. Un ritorno che passa anche attraverso la semplice ma accattivante bellezza di un titolo come Days of Doom.

Slaps and Beans 2 deserves to have its day. It is not the best scrolling beat ’em up out there but it does enough to stand out. It has voice acting and animation which the others don’t have. It has some mini-games and puzzling elements which make it stand out. It also tries to add some humour to make the experience more enjoyable. So if you want to play a local beat ’em up with your friend or family then why not pick this up as there is some fun to be had.

Como unión de The Legend of Heroes e Ys, me lo he pasado en grande con The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails. Ya me encantaban ambas sagas por separado, pero tener la parte más narrativa junto al desarrollo de su mundo, además de la acción de la otra franquicia, da lugar a una combinación que funciona a las mil maravillas. Es algo que luego han ido haciendo entre las dos sagas, creando sinergias entre ambas, y posiblemente ese punto de inflexión naciera aquí. Sin importarnos de dónde vengan estas ideas, estamos ante un RPG de acción muy divertido, directo y que va al grano. Ir conociendo a los habitantes del pueblo entre épicas mazmorras refuerza nuestra pertenencia a este sencillo, pero más que atractivo rincón del universo Kiseki. Me lo he pasado tan sumamente bien con The Legend of Nayuta, que ojalá Nihon Falcom vuelva a hacer juegos de este estilo. RPGs más comedidos, que no son especialmente complejos, pero que siguen atrapando a más no poder. Que no os engañen sus orígenes de PSP, ya que este RPG de acción es de los que más os pueden enganchar de los últimos años.

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Quest for Balance feels like an incomplete port of a mobile game that was retextured. It definitely isn’t worth £39.99 and I wouldn’t recommend it even if it was free.

Way of the Hunter is an entertaining hunting simulator with a message to convey. The story was charming, and the gameplay was engrossing, though at times it felt like the deer had better detection skills than the hunter!

Payday 3 rappresenta un diamante grezzo, ma il suo destino dipenderà fortemente dagli obiettivi che Starbreeze si è posta. Il gioco offre un gameplay divertente, una rigiocabilità praticamente infinita e una colonna sonora eccezionale, tuttavia, al momento del lancio, il contenuto è estremamente limitato e scarno, inoltre alcuni elementi frustranti ci fanno temere che gli sviluppatori vogliano buttarsi a capofitto sull’accezione negativa del modello “games as a service”. Resta da sperare che i problemi riscontrati vengano risolti, ma c’è il timore che alcune di queste frustrazioni siano parte di un sistema di monetizzazione che potrebbe offuscare l’esperienza di gioco.

Payday 3 has its enjoyable moments, bringing its well-known cooperative heists into a new game engine. However its lack of content, outdated gunplay, underwhelming AI, and unfinished cutscenes leave a lot to be desired. If you're a series fan looking for a substantial step-up in this sequel then this isn’t it. However, if you're after a multiplayer title to clown around in for a few hours, this will suffice.

Even when everything's working, MythForce isn't much more than a bad port of a fun but uninteresting game. That being said, we can't possibly recommend it in its launch state. We don't take half-baked efforts lightly, and this feels even less than that. With some patches and updates, MythForce could potentially turn things around, although we're very far from optimistic. As things stand, avoid the Switch version of MythForce.

Payday 3 is a solid step forward for my favorite heist simulator franchise, even though that step is a lot smaller than I’d hoped due to a lack of content and the unsurprising but still majorly annoying bugs and performance issues. The awesome combat, greatly improved AI, and especially the stealth options are so massive they alone justify this as a full sequel, and the new and improved heists with clear phases to navigate them are absolutely fantastic. I just wish there was more loot in the proverbial vault at the outset, and that Starbreeze would have used its years of experience in order to ensure this was a more robust and far more stable launch. I’m confident Payday 3 could become the sequel we all deserve with a year or two of updates – for now, it’s a nice start.
