Es ist schön, dass gewisse Gesetzmäßigkeiten in der schnelllebigen Videospielewelt scheinbar immerwährenden Bestand haben. Dazu gehört auch die unglaubliche Motivation, die von den Taktik-Rollenspielen der Disgaea-Serie aufgebaut wird. Systemübergreifend und ungeachtet des Alters sorgen die skurrilen Abenteuer aus dem Hause Nippon Ichi für Heidenspaß und fordernde Unterhaltung. Und da macht Disgaea 2 – Dark Hero Days auf PSP keine Ausnahme: Erzählerisch und in punkto Humor zwar nicht so überzeugend wie der Vorgänger, wird inhaltlich ein Feuerwerk abgebrannt, das Anfänger mit Optionen und Möglichkeiten erschlägt und mit dem so genannten Magichange-Feature sogar den Bogen zum PS3-Ableger schlägt. Fordernde Auseinandersetzungen, abgefahrene Charaktere und haufenweise Nebenschauplätze wie die Gegenstandswelt oder das Tribunal, in denen man sich schnell verlieren kann, lassen die Zeit wie im Fluge vergehen. Wie man es von der Serie gewohnt ist, bleibt die Kulisse in der 32-Bit-Ära stecken und ist nach wie vor der eindrücklichste Beweis, dass innere Werte mehr zählen als jede Grafikpracht. Allerdings ist nicht nachvollziehbar, wieso Nippon Ichi z.B. mit Übersichtsproblemen immer noch Altlasten mitschleppt und es einfach nicht schafft, diese Mankos auszumerzen. Dennoch: Wer die PS2-Version noch nicht gespielt hat und auch nur den Funken von Interesse für Taktik-Rollenspiele aufbringen kann, braucht Urlaub und Disgaea 2.

Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll, like the previous Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, is a fun ball-rolling design with a nice stack of challenges and a hit-or-miss pile of mini-games. There are some neat inclusions like the Super Mario Galaxy-like co-op mode where other players can shoot obstacles out of the players’ way. The added balance board support wasn’t that much of a selling point for me – on paper it sounds like a match made in heaven but in practice it’s just a great big load of frustration. Skip the balance board support and you’ll have a good time.

Army of Two per PSP non convince da nessun punto di vista. Il gameplay è scialbo e non recupera nessuna delle suggestioni che ci avevano fatto apprezzare il suo omologo per console casalinghe, mentre alcune scelte decisamente discutibili nel sistema di controllo trasformano l’intera esperienza in un frustrante trial and error attraverso ambientazioni poco evocative e curate solo in maniera superficiale. Il motore grafico, seppur non pessimo, soffre di alcuni rallentamenti decisamente fastidiosi, mentre la mancanza di una modalità cooperativa degna di questo nome annulla tutte le peculiarità che avrebbero potuto rendere Il Quarantesimo Giorno anche solo lontanamente interessante.

Phantasy Star 0 doesn’t quite live up to the memory of Phantasy Star Online from 2000, which if nothing else, highlights just how far the genre has come in the last ten years.

Darwinia+ is one of the most impressive packages available on Xbox Live Arcade. For $15 you get two complete games set in a fascinating virtual reality. There are some minor issues that bog the game down from time to time, but they are easy to overlook considering how much care and thought went into the overall package. Everything from the music to the intro bootloaders to the Darwinian's culture has been meticulously crafted for an experience unlike any other game out there. You'll definitely want to invite these little guys onto your hard drive.

Ninja Blade has no right to be as entertaining as it is. It's not as accomplished as the genre's heavyweights, but anyone able to see it as the roller-coaster ride it is should have a great time.

La riduzione portatile di Army of Two: The 40th Day, al di là della buona realizzazione tecnica, purtroppo non brilla per gameplay, spessore e durata. La gestione quasi casuale dell'Aggro, il sistema di acquisto delle armi poco accessibile e incisivo ma soprattutto l'IA mediocre, tanto del nostro compagno quanto dei nemici che dobbiamo affrontare, concorrono a creare un'esperienza che alterna noia e frustrazione in egual misura, senza proporre situazioni particolarmente interessanti. La presenza della "mira assistita" si rende necessaria anche per via dei frequenti cambi nella visuale, ma non fa che marcare ulteriormente le mancanze di un prodotto privo di grandi attrattive, che si completa nel giro di poche ore e che purtroppo niente ha a che vedere con le versioni per Xbox 360 e PS3 in termini di qualità e idee. In definitiva, magari sarebbe stato meglio tentare la carta della conversione fedele, pur accettando delle pesanti limitazioni e una generale semplificazione del gameplay: così com'è, Army of Two: The 40th Day per PSP fa ben poca impressione.

Très petit shooter multijoueur, Stargate Resistance est apparemment né d'un développement bref, et cela se sent. Alignant un level-design sans envergure, un gameplay bancal ainsi qu'un contenu maigrichon, le titre a fort peu de chances de convaincre les joueurs, qu'ils soient fans de Stargate ou simples néophytes.

Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days es una fiel adaptación del juego aparecido en PlayStation 2 que sabe ajustarse a los tiempos actuales, no sólo por su sabio traslado a portátil, sino también por incluir las novedades más destacadas de la última entrega de PlayStation 3. Un juego que ofrece un nivel técnico y jugable de calidad y característico de la serie, que en PSP funciona especialmente bien. Uno de los mejores exponentes del género en la portátil de Sony con un trabajo más que notable de su estudio creador que ha buscado ir más lejos en lugar de crear una simple adaptación.
