Vancouver 2010 is a fun experience for a short while that is aided slightly by challenges and online competition. If only this game had some semblance of a career mode or anything that felt slightly like the real Olympics, then perhaps SEGA would have had a real winner on its hands. As it stands Vancouver 2010 is a worthy addition to the long line of Olympic games and does a bit to advance the series in terms of gameplay.

There are some enjoyable bits in this forgettable RPG on the Xbox 360 but Divinity II has a lot of vegetables to get through before you can eat dessert. To make matters worse the game is plagued with a few minor and one major bugs which make it incredibly difficult to keep playing. I can only recommend this title to the most patience of the hardcore and even then only after there has been a patch to fix lingering technical issues.

Es kommt selten vor, dass ich schon während des lästigen Aufladens der DS-Batterie daran denke, wann es endlich weitergeht: Ich wollte unbedingt wissen, wie die Kampagne endet! Gelingt es meinem jungen Helden, das Böse zurückzudrängen? Schon verrückt, wenn man bedenkt, mit welchen einfachen Mitteln der Strategie-Mix designt wurde. Da ist der Aufstieg des Helden, der zwar stark vereinfacht ist, aber immer noch genug Sog entfaltet, um einen ständig weiterspielen zu lassen. Da ist das rundenbasierte Kampfsystem, bei dem man permanent darum bangt, ob man den Gegner auch besiegt. Da ist das spannende Hin und Her mit magischen Spitzen, bei dem man stundenlang über genau die richtige Kombination sinngrübeln könnte. Und da ist die KI, die mit aller Macht dagegen hält, so dass der eine oder andere Endgegner tatsächlich zur Hürde wird. Irgendwann ist man mächtig stolz auf sein taktisches Geschick und Durchhaltevermögen. Dann kommt das nächste Kapitel, ein neuer Held mit einer eigenen Geschichte sowie Fähigkeiten und fängt man wieder klein an. Man wird mit ihm dunkle Dungeons erforschen, sich in Rittersälen tummeln und Gasthöfe besuchen. Diese Faszination können auch gelegentliche Schwächen wie die kleinen Gebiete, der starke Kampffokus oder die fehlende Heldenerstellung nicht trüben. Freut euch auf ein süchtig machendes Epos im Taschenformat!

The combat system is almost flawless. Bar the odd insane difficulty spike, even the dreaded grind is pleasurable. It attains that holy grail of game design: easy to learn, but hard to master.

Might And Magic: Clash Of Heroes è sicuramente un gioco enormemente interessante. Il suo gameplay, complesso e rivolto esclusivamente a persone pronte a usare il cervello e dotate di pazienza, farà sicuramente la felicità di chi è disposto ad apprenderlo. Le trenta ore richieste per portare a termine l’avventura principale diventeranno una vera e propria droga per gli amanti degli strategici. Purtroppo non mancano le lacune. La mancanza dell’on-line in un gioco di questo genere è un peccato difficilmente perdonabile, mentre in generale, l’impianto grafico-sonoro manca dell’ispirazione necessaria per i grandi capolavori. Tuttavia la bontà del gameplay è tanto splendente che se pur oggettivamente Might And Magic: Clash Of Heroes non potrà mai aspirare all’Olimpo dei videogiochi, non tarderà a crearsi una schiera di fanatici sostenitori. Se vi manca la pazienza e non avete voglia di avere a che fare con uno strategico, sicuramente questo non è il titolo che fa per voi. Al contrario, anche se solo nutrite un debole interesse per il genere, Might And Magic: Clash Of Heroes ha serie possibilità di cannibalizzare per un po’ lo slot del vostro DS. Fateci un pensiero.

Là où Might & Magic : Clash of Heroes aurait pu n’être qu’un clone sans saveur de Puzzle Quest, les développeurs de Capybara Games nous offrent une délicieuse coupe de nectar impossible à lâcher avant d’en avoir bu la dernière goutte. Doté d’un gameplay qui réussit à concilier simplicité et profondeur stratégique – ce qui est en soi une véritable performance – ce mix entre jeu de rôle et puzzle-game a la particularité de s’adresser à un large public sans jamais rogner sur le challenge. Entre ses combats passionnants, son aspect RPG convaincant et sa narration travaillée qui s’appuie sur des personnages attachants, il est même difficile de lui trouver un véritable défaut. Bref, on tient là un titre brillant et particulièrement addictif, dont on attend déjà la suite avec impatience.

Serious Sam HD a un seul véritable défaut : il est vendu trop cher. A 800 points, son achat serait incontournable, la question ne se poserait même pas. A 1 200, l'addition a plus de mal à passer. C'est dommage, car le jeu est toujours aussi fun à pratiquer qu'en 2001, et la refonte graphique est réussie. Bref, à réserver aux inconditionnels en attendant une éventuelle promotion. Il n'empêche, Sam est de retour et ça fait bigrement plaisir !

De nouvelles situations et quelques améliorations de gameplay salvatrices, voilà ce que vous réserve ce nouvel opus de Death to Spies. Ainsi, si le soft reste fidèle à son aîné en proposant des missions d'infiltration ouvertes et extrêmement exigeantes, son IA affûtée et sa jouabilité très légèrement remaniée lui permettront de satisfaire les fans comme les néophytes en quête de challenge.

King's Bounty: Armored Princess è uno dei migliori giochi di ruolo strategici da parecchio tempo a questa parte e per gli appassionati questo dovrebbe bastare. Entrando nel merito, gli sviluppatori non hanno cambiato quasi nulla rispetto a The Legend, limitandosi a inserire nuovi contenuti e limare i difetti, lasciando solo in sospeso i giocatori esordienti che dovranno fare qualche tentativo in più prima di padroneggiare al meglio tutte le dinamiche offerte. La longevità è notevole, abbastanza da compensare in parte l'assenza del multiplayer, mentre la realizzazione tecnica è di seconda fascia anche se lontana dall'infastidire. Consigliato senza riserva agli appassionati, da provare almeno una volta per tutti gli altri.

As you have probably guessed by now, I don't care for Twin Sector. And I think I'm even more aggravated because, at its heart, the game actually does have quite a bit of potential. Yes, it's derivative in terms of both the gameplay and the overall story, but that doesn't bother me nearly as much as the fact that it fails to provide a compelling or consistent framework for the inspirations that it has drawn from other similar games.
