Resident Evil 4: Mobile Edition non è una fedele conversione del titolo per home console. Ne riprende trama - anche se narrata piuttosto male - personaggi, ambienti, e la classica atmosfera dark, riproponendoli però in un contesto action/shooter che ci sentiamo di promuovere: apprese le meccaniche del sistema di controllo, il gioco è gradevole e divertente, contando poi un lato tecnico magistrale ed un’avventura che, grazie anche alla riuscita modalità Mercenari, attesta la sua durata a livelli più che buoni. Il sistema di controllo rappresenta l’unico tallone d’Achille del titolo, ma essendo risolvibile comunque in una mezzora di pratica, crediamo che valga la pena spendere i 5,99€ per uno dei migliori titoli presenti su App Store.

Twin Sector è un gioco o che si ama o che si odia, non esistono vie di mezzo. Ma se facciamo parte della prima categoria la soddisfazione di aver risolto un puzzle e la voglia quasi ossessiva di andare avanti sono stimoli sufficienti per far chiuder un occhio sui vari difetti che si celano nel gioco. Da notare come il titolo sia venduto su Steam ad un prezzo molto interessante; oltre al doppiaggio in inglese il gioco è sottotitolato in cinque lingue tra cui figura anche l’italiano.

Even as a rail shooter Dead Space Extraction is very faithful to the series' setting and mechanics. Dismembering aliens feels just as satisfying, the graphics are surprisingly close to the original and the story fills in the background left open by Isaac's story. Extraction is a must-play for Dead Space fans, and a damn good rail shooter in its own right.

The sci-fi shooter has been done a number of times in a number of ways - and arguably there are an abundance of new possibilities within the sci-fi genre that will continue to spawn many more. Section 8 has a variety of new ideas implemented that make it stand out from the crowd, but is it worthy of the attention or is it just another generic space shooter?

Dragon Quest Wars may not offer the kind of epically lengthy role-playing experience that most gamers would commonly associate with its brand, but what it does offer is superb. This small, focused strategy design is like a slime-infused reimagining of the game of chess, and has just as much depth and variety as that classic board game -- or maybe more, since chess never let you determine your own lineup. And if you weren't sold before this point, it's important to note before we close that there's a good reason this grid-based strategy concept feels so at home here -- it was developed by Intelligent Systems, the same Nintendo house responsible for the Fire Emblem and Advance Wars series. DSiWare, as an overall service, hasn't had an extraordinary debut this year -- but it's games like this that prove its potential. If you're at all a fan of chess, or Dragon Quest, or strategy gaming at all, spend the priced-right amount of five bucks and grab this new virtual board game. It's chess with slimes, and it'll keep your attention in check for a long time to come.

I'm a musician and I'm always looking for new portable solutions for capturing musical ideas on the go. The ideal software is easy to use, making it quick and simple to "jot down" the song you have in your head. Unfortunately, this is where Beaterator stumbles as its interface is generally confusing. It's not all Rockstar's fault –- the PSP's button interface slows down the process. Musicians are used to using music software on computers with a mouse, which allows them to input data much more quickly. Of course, you can't take Pro Tools on the bus with you, so the trade off might be worth it. You CAN make complete songs with Beaterator, it's just not as easy as it should be. It is a portable music studio for your PSP with many of the same features you find in expensive PC software for a mere $40, so that's saying a lot. But a portable music studio simply has to be easy to use, and Beaterator isn't there, yet. Although Beaterator has an impressive feature set, it's not really competing with high-end computer software. It offers two things: a simple live performance tool and a way of capturing musical ideas on the go so you can record the real deal when you get back to your home studio. When a song pops into my head I should be able to crank it out in Beaterator in a few minutes. But that's not the case -- I have to fumble through menus and wait for samples to load, stretching the process out for a half hour or more. This may be the best music studio for the PSP, but it's still not the perfect portable music studio.

Red Faction: Guerrilla si inserisce in un affollato panorama dove riesce faticosamente a ritagliarsi un piccolo posto: troppe le produzioni che lo surclassano tecnicamente (rimanendo in ambito sand-box, il sottovalutato Far Cry 2), rendendolo consigliabile solo a chi ne potrà afferrare lo spirito fracassone. Gli irriducibili demolitori non potranno essere delusi da questa versione nel cui prezzo è compreso dell'eccellente materiale aggiuntivo (per un valore di circa 20 euro) e una maggior qualità grafica ottenibile anche con hardware non estremo. In conclusione un'ottima conversione di un titolo nella norma, ma divertente e spassoso.

Bien que la première moitié d'Hydrophobia soit plutôt réussie compte tenu des restrictions techniques engendrées par le format XBLA, le titre sombre rapidement dans une redite laborieuse. Les mêmes ficelles, utilisées jusqu'à plus soif, constituent alors l'épicentre du mode solo qui se termine rapidement. Le mode Défis étant peu intéressant, on évitera donc d'y revenir prestement. Dommage car ce mélange d'action, de plates-formes et de phases de piratage aurait pu briller de mille feux si les développeurs avaient mieux pensé la progression de leur bébé. Au final, on profitera néanmoins d'un jeu principalement basé sur sa physique de l'eau et des interactions avec le décor mais le plus souvent mou du genou.

Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2010 assume parfaitement son statut de simulation de chasse, délaissant l’action brutale de l’autre lignée Cabela’s (Dangerous Hunts) pour offrir au joueur une expérience vidéoludique se voulant proche de la réalité. Si l’on met à l’écart quelques ‘sens du chasseur’ dignes d’un Predator, l’objectif est plutôt réussi même si desservi par un système de chasses balisé à l’extrême. On savourera la réalisation, particulièrement réussie, des environnements et créatures, le tout baigné d’une ambiance sonore très immersive. Au final, malgré ses défauts caractéristiques du genre, le titre tient ses promesses et confirme que Cabela’s a bel et bien le monopole incontesté des simulations de traque virtuelle, pour le plus grand plaisir des joueurs préférant faire s’éteindre des espèces menacées plutôt que de massacrer son prochain dans une énième guerre uchronique.

Marvelous has had a hand in some great RPGs in the past – the excellent Rune Factory: Frontier comes to mind – so how Eldar Saga became such a mess is a complete mystery. Everything about it is frustrating: the awkward balancing, the cliche story, the awful sounds, and especially the dreadful controls. If you are considering Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga at all, chances are you simply want a Wii-exclusive online RPG, and if that’s the case then do yourself a favor and wait for Monster Hunter 3.
