S'il ne marquera pas autant les esprits que NHL 09 l'année dernière, NHL 10 est pourtant un titre encore meilleur grâce à plusieurs petits ajouts apportés çà et là dont les plaquages contre le Plexiglas vraiment jouissifs. Si le choix vous est offert, optez donc pour NHL 10. Maintenant, si vous possédez déjà l'édition précédente, vous pouvez sagement faire l'impasse et attendre encore un an pour la prochaine version. En espérant qu'elle se montre plus ambitieuse.

NHL2K10 has a simply staggering amount of content in it. To say that this game is a value at its price is an understatement, but while there’s an insane amount of modes and options – 2K sliders, MotionPlus, WiiSpeak support, online leagues, 10-console team-up mode, season mode, franchise mode, pond hockey, practice mode, Mii Superskills, create-a-player, create-a-team, and the list goes on and on -there’s also a lack of polish throughout. A fast-paced game like this needs to run at a high framerate, and the closer to 60 frames a second you can get when you’re using Wii MotionPlus the better. The game is both fun and extremely deep, but I also can’t help but wish the team would rethink its strategy on Wii. The massive amounts of modes can stay, but a simpler look (not “hockey for babies,” but just a smarter allocation of assets) and more polished core game of puck would do the game wonders on Wii. As is this is a great offering for hockey fans looking for a long overdue Wii NHL experience, but it’s in dire need of a ground-up engine change. A faster, more arcade-inspired game of hockey would fit Wii’s bill a whole lot better, even without pushing too far down that road and sacrificing NHL legitimacy. If next year’s game has literally no new modes or options, but is simply a stronger game of hockey on both a visual and gameplay front it’ll get my full recommendation without question. It’s got the depth. Now 2K just needs to bring more intensity and fun back into hockey. As for the sheer amount of options, modes, and just all-around ambition though, 2K is opening a clinic in Wii game development.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey manages to stand out simply because it's a flight combat title on PSP. It's pretty, it includes bits of the great soundtrack from the console version, and it features some wobbly controls that can be adapted to after a little practice. While some might see the IL-2 name and immediately assume it has something to do with simulation, that's not the case here. This is an arcade-style game through and through, and a short one. Expect a few thrills once you acclimate to the controls, but don't expect to stick around for very long.

Es ist der Triumph eines Superhelden! Denn was Batman auf Arkham Asylum leistet, ist nicht nur ein weiteres Action-Abenteuer, das auch unter einem unbekannten Namen funktionieren könnte. Die Art und Weise, wie sich der Schwarze Rächer bewegt, wie er tüftelt und wie er seinen Feinden das Fürchten lehrt – das IST Batman! Umso besser, dass sich sowohl die Arcade-Stealth-Action als auch die ebenfalls Spielhallen-tauglichen Schlägereien für separate Herausforderungen eignen, die mich schon jetzt viel zu lange in ihrem Highscore-Bann halten. Schade aber, dass das Spiel nie über das rudimentäre Abspulen der immer gleichen Prinzipien hinauskommt. Kleine Variationen gestalten den Ausflug in die Irrenanstalt zwar abwechslungsreicher, aber nicht lebendiger. Selbst mächtige Zwischengegner überraschen nur selten mit cleveren Manövern. So sind es alleine die ausgezeichnet getroffenen Comic-Kulissen sowie die hervorragenden Charaktere, die dem Spiel seine Klasse verleihen – nicht zu vergessen die angenehm kniffligen Rätsel des Riddlers. Unter dem Strich, wo sich spätestens nach dem letzten Kampf einfach zu viele Minus-Zeichen angesammelt haben, steht deshalb in der Tat ein inhaltlich beinahe perfektes Batman-Spiel. Schade, dass Rocksteady die vielen guten Ideen nicht konsequent zu Ende gedacht hat.

Défoulant malgré tout, il pourra divertir les amateurs de gunfights mais il parviendra difficilement à les accrocher sur la longueur. Dommage car son ambiance originale et son héroïne trash ont le mérite de nous sortir de notre train-train ludique quotidien.

We missed out on reviewing Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier when it first came out this past spring, as one part of the huge wave of solid releases that Atlus unleashed upon us unsuspecting Americans one after another through that whole season -- Knights in the Nightmare, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor, Steal Princess, The Dark Spire and more all came out together, within just a few months of each other around April, May and June. I picked up a copy of Endless Frontier over the summer, though, and have been thoroughly enjoying it when I've had the time to return to it for a little bit more exploration, juggling combat and humorously insensitive dialogue from the main character. It's a game that deserves more than to be lost in the shuffle, so here have been my thoughts, and my recommendation. You've got plenty of great RPG options on the DS this year, including all that competition from Atlus itself and some other notable tongue-in-cheek adventures that don't take themselves seriously, like the just-released Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. But if you're looking for something even more over-the-top than that, if you have the patience to endure some of the most epically lengthy boss battles you'll ever see in your life as a gamer, and if you haven't felt compelled to pick up that picket sign and decry Atlus's lack of good sense for having built an entire RPG storyline around a man who probably spends his free time trying to sneak into the Playboy mansion, then give Endless Frontier a second glance. The OG is all good.

Kein Wunder, dass Keita Takahashi, der Erdenker des Originals, längst nicht mehr an Bord ist: Dies hier dürfte das letzte Aufbäumen seiner grandiosen Schöpfung sein. Unter Takahashi stand der Name zwei Episoden lang für eine unfassbare Vielfalt abgefahrener Ideen – danach begann eine unsägliche Wiederverwertung des Immergleichen. Und auch Katamari Forever setzt lediglich mit ausgesprochen stimmungsvollen Grafikfiltern sowie zwei unbedeutenden spielerischen Erweiterungen Zeichen. Das klingt allerdings schlimmer als es ist, denn Forever tut vor allem eins: Es bündelt das Beste aus der gesamten Katamari-Geschichte, verpackt es stilvoller als je zuvor und bindet es mit herzerfrischenden Comic-Blödeleien zu einem tollen Abschiedsgeschenk. Wer die Vorgänger nicht kennt: Hier steckt alles drin, was man über Katamari wissen muss! Als wäre der Zahn der Zeit an dem unglaublich süchtig machenden Rollen und an den liebevollen Blödeleien einfach abgerutscht. Für mich ist der PS3-Ableger deshalb ein gelungener Schlussstrich unter einer exzellenten Serie. Schlaft gut, Prinz und König! Dank Katamari Forever werde ich euch in bester Erinnerung behalten.

Kirby Super Star Ultra, pur nella sua pluralità (offre più di sedici modalità di gioco con Kirby protagonista), non concede molto al giocatore. Il titolo sotto un profilo tecnico è ineccepibile, con una grafica 2D estremamente curata, la presenza di numerosi filmati, ed un comparto sonoro degno della pallina rosa Nintendo. Ma se si esaminano gli elementi del gameplay, vengono fuori tutti i limiti del gioco. La ripetitività dell'azione, unita ad una bassa longevità ed ad una facilità disarmante (che permette di concludere tutte le avventure in poche ore), rendono Kirby Super Star Ultra un prodotto piatto e decisamente poco appetibile per i fan più esigenti, abituati ad un Kirby decisamente più vario, duraturo e articolato.

Super Star Wars est un bon run and gun, certes bien en deçà d’un Super Probotector en termes de rythme et de mise en scène, mais qui témoigne de bonnes intentions envers les passionnés de l’univers Star Wars. Agréable à jouer, beau et globalement fidèle à la mythologie, ce remake vidéoludique d’Un Nouvel Espoir est à conseiller aux nostalgiques, même si un meilleur soin au niveau du level design et la possibilité de contrôler maître Kenobi n’auraient pas été de trop.

Contra Rebirth non è dunque solo la riproposizione di un classico, ma una nuova dose di azione pienamente inserita nei canoni classici della serie. Proprio per la sua fedeltà allo stile originale, si tratta di un gioco che non perdona la minima distrazione e punisce severamente: il "Game Over" giunge con una frequenza a cui non siamo più abituati. Per questo, e per il suo aspetto particolare, potrebbe non essere apprezzato da tutti, indirizzato com'è in particolare al pubblico "hardcore" o nostalgico dei bei tempi andati. Un prodotto di nicchia, più che una produzione di alto profilo destinata a far ripartire la serie ai nostri giorni, nondimeno un'operazione condotta con grande classe da parte di Konami, oltretutto a un prezzo veramente invitante.

Brave: A Warrior's Tale is a simple title meant for kids unfamiliar with the gaming world. As an introductory product -- an ultra light action-adventure -- Brave has far too many rotten bits and oddities to recommend. It's still a functional game on a basic level, despite its control and camera issues, and its low level of difficulty keep it readily accessible. With gameplay ranging from straightforward platfoming and combat to swooping down on an eagle amidst a herd of buffalo to nab enemy riders, there's been a definite effort made to keep things from getting stale. If only it all worked as smoothly as it should. It's expected that a family friendly title may not have the depth some are looking for, but that doesn't mean it should be given a free pass when it's this sloppily thrown together.
