Contra Rebirth non sconvolge il panorama dell’odierna offerta videoludica. La motivazione è semplice: se ne frega totalmente. Contra è tornato, con la sua carica di distruzione, la sua difficoltà umiliante ed il suo gameplay avvinghiante: per chi lo apprezza è un acquisto obbligato e foriero di sana devastazione videoludica, tutti gli altri possono benissimo rivolgersi altrove, e perdersi una testimonianza di cosa davvero significava e può tuttora significare divertirsi con un videogioco.

Hat man sich auf der PS3 und 360 damit abgefunden, dass die Colin McRae-Serie jetzt mehr ein Arcade-Racer mit einem Fokus auf Spaß-Events geworden ist, bekommt man ein sehr gutes Offroad-Spiel, das technische Glanzpunkte setzt. Beides kann man auf Wii und PSP leider nicht behaupten: Die Umsetzung hat bis auf den Namen nichts mehr mit der starken Vorlage gemeinsam und wirkt wie eine billig zusammengeschusterte Auftragsarbeit ohne Seele und Stil. Langweilige Strecken, eine lächerliche Gummiband-KI, knapper Umfang, biedere Präsentation, fehlendes Schadensmodell und nicht mehr zeitgemäße Technik mit Schwächeanfällen sorgen dafür, dass Colin McRae: Dirt 2 auf Wii und PSP mit einem Motorschaden liegen bleibt. Zumindest darf man hier aber auch über Schnee-Pisten rasen, bekommt auf Wii einige Steuerungsoptionen geboten und bekommt lokal einen brauchbaren Mehrspielermodus. PSP-Spieler sind mit Sega Rally trotzdem deutlich besser bedient, während Wii-Besitzer noch einmal Excite Truck aus dem Regal kramen und dabei sehr viel mehr Arcade-Fahrspaß genießen sollten.

Vu le passif de TimeGate Studios, nous étions en droit d'attendre mieux de ce Section 8. Le titre souffre d'un gros manque de créativité, aussi bien en termes de design que de scénario, d'armes et de véhicules. Bref, pas de quoi devenir une nouvelle référence du FPS multi. Malgré ce constat, tout n'est pas à jeter, car les développeurs ont aussi eu quelques bonnes idées. Du coup, que faire ? Au moins l'essayer, si vous en avez l'occasion.

Sonic & Knuckles is a solid entry in the series, and it's cool to see the "lock on" technology of 1994 included here. I'd still like to see SEGA put more effort into the visual presentation of the Vintage Collection. The "graphics smoothing" option always makes the games look worse and the dull blue background could use a lot more personality. But for $5 you get a fun Sonic game, and new content for any previous Sonic titles you've downloaded. This is a good value for Hedgehog fans, and a helluva lot more fun than most recent games in the series.

Die ersten Stunden von Twin Sector sind ein Musterbeispiel dafür, wie man einen Einstieg vergeigen kann: Im Vorbild Portal reißt die Atmosphäre den Spieler von der ersten Sekunde an mit – hier herrscht zu Beginn nur Trostlosigkeit. Die ersten Stimmungskiller sind das staksig animierte Renderintro, die völlig humorlosen Kommentare des Computers sowie die träge Steuerung in den Sprungsequenzen. Außerdem sorgen die sich ständig wiederholenden Grafikelemente dafür, dass erst gar nicht die Illusion aufkommt, man würde sich wirklich durch unterirdische Labors und Schächte arbeiten. Als ich mich an die trostlose Aufmachung gewöhnt hatte und ich immer geschickter mit den Handschuhen umgehen konnte, entwickelte sich aber ein angenehmer Spielfluss. Gerade die etwas komplexeren Gravitationsrätsel in späteren Levels haben es in sich. Für einen echten Portal-Konkurrenten mangelt es Twin Sector an Atmosphäre und Feintuning – für einige knifflige Stunden ist der Titel trotdzem gut.

NHL 10 is a great hockey game, don’t get me wrong. The action is as good and as authentic as I’ve ever seen from a hockey outing and fans of the sport who didn’t pick up last year’s game have no reason to miss out this time. This package is as complete and all-encompassing as any sports game out there with great multiplayer and single-player modes. The biggest problem that fans of the series will have is that it just isn’t all that different from NHL 09. There are “new” modes that are tacked on pieces from things that we’ve seen in the past and the gameplay refinements are a mixed bag that feel as though they could have been tuned just a bit better before launch. Nothing is a bad or poor choice that even comes close to ruining the experience, but there could have been more done to expand the core gameplay and offering of modes.

Resident Evil 5 per PC è lo stesso gioco già visto su console. Quindi tante sparatorie, una grande realizzazione tecnica e poco horror. Come action è sicuramente un ottimo gioco, ma chi si aspetta qualcosa più in linea con le origini della serie, guardi altrove perché qui si spara e basta.

Supercar Challenge è un gioco di corse rude, difficile, che raramente scende a compromessi e che dunque richiede un approccio particolare. È possibile limare l'esperienza di guida fino a un certo punto, grazie alle numerosissime regolazioni disponibili, ma poi sta a noi dimostrare di avere talento e precisione sufficienti per concludere le gare con un podio. L'IA degli avversari non è d'aiuto, purtroppo. Grafica e sonoro sono discreti ma non possono competere con quanto stiamo vedendo negli ultimi periodi, mentre le cifre tendono a premiare il prodotto System 3, in particolare per quanto concerne il numero dei tracciati. Dopo il discreto Ferrari Challenge: Trofeo Pirelli, System 3 gioca dunque la carta della diversificazione e cerca di ritagliarsi uno spazio laddove di spazio ce n'è ormai ben poco. Ne viene fuori un prodotto per soli puristi, che richiede un impegno ben al di sopra della media e che in cambio offre meno di quanto era lecito aspettarsi.

Arctic Edge is a great achievement on the PSP. The Arctic setting makes for some great track design and incredible visuals, but there's just something holding the game back from being a true classic.
