Plus drôle, plus dur, plus varié et se chargeant de lancer l'histoire de cette nouvelle saga Monkey Island, Siege of Spinner Cay ne décevra pas ceux qui ont déjà acheté leur pack et ne manquera certainement pas de convaincre les indécis que Telltale ne se moque pas du monde en reprenant cette prestigieuse licence.

If you're just cuckoo for the Tour de France, you may find some enjoyment in this uninspired simulation. There are many stages to race through and lots of opportunities to micromanage your dream team of cyclists. But everyone else should steer clear, as it is a very unfriendly experience to anyone who isn't well-versed in the ins and outs of the sport. It misses a good opportunity to teach us a little bit about this event that, despite being over 100 years old, is a mystery to many Americans. Not only does it expect you to be familiar with the cycling challenge, it also doesn't take the time to teach you how to play this videogame version. The most famous Tour de France athlete, Lance Armstrong, is known for persevering through difficult challenges. But I doubt even he could make it very long with this game.

Das erste Kapitel von Tales of Monkey Island habe ich verschlungen, mit The Siege of Spinner Cay tue ich mich schon schwerer. Es treibt einen viel weniger an den Rechner, was sicher auch ein Stück weit daran liegt, dass der Reiz des Neuen verflogen ist. Letztes Mal dachte man noch: Toll, dass man endlich wieder mit Guybrush losziehen kann! Dieses Mal ist es fast schon Routine. Das Insel-Abenteuer plätschert außerdem dahin, bis endlich mal was Spannendes passiert, wenn einem die Kugeln der Piraten um die Ohren schwirren. Insbesondere das Wiedersehen mit dem tumben Le Chuck macht dennoch Spaß, da er so ganz anders ist als erwartet. Auch Elaine ist für den einen oder anderen Witz gut und das Meervolk ist ebenfalls lustig, auch wenn die Stippvisite kurz ausfällt. Letztes Mal waren die Rätsel ein Pluspunkt, dieses Mal sind sie aufgrund ihrer Einfallslosigkeit die große Schwäche, die ungute Erinnerungen an alte Telltale-Zeiten aufkommen lässt. Denken ist da Glückssache und stattdessen Rumprobieren angesagt. Auch sonst vermittelt es öfters einen unfertigen Eindruck, wenn Grafikfehler auftreten oder das Spiel abstürzt. Da hat Telltale wohl mit der heißen Nadel gestrickt, um im Soll zu bleiben. Hoffentlich kehren die kreativen Ideen bis zum dritten Kapitel wieder zurück.

Shadow Complex probably could have used a little more development time to iron out a few glitches and nail down the sometimes awkward aiming system. Even so, it stands as one of the best games yet in 2009. And I'm not just talking about the Xbox Live Arcade. The classic, exploration-heavy gameplay is a winner. Go buy this game.

I wouldn't put Real Heroes: Firefighter over the Wii's best first person shooters: it's going to take more than dousing flames to trounce games like The Conduit and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. But the Epicenter Studios' game is a nice supplemental FPS if you're looking for a break from the usual and expected, and though the game has a few issues here and there that didn't get cleaned up before publish, it's a solid and impressive effort that's released at a hard to beat price.

Shadow Complex is an incredibly solid game that could fetch $30-40 as a retail copy. While it isn’t the longest game out there (you should be able to complete the game in under 8 hours), the fact that it’s a mere $15 makes the game a must-buy for any 360 owner. With titles like Shadow Complex and Braid, XBLA has been quickly shifting from a place for retro ports to a showcase for some of the best indie and labor-of-love projects in the gaming industry.

Bohemia Interactive's ArmA II provides an ultra-realistic military shooter for those that are up to the challenge. There are some rough spots, but those are adequately compensated for by the complex and realistic battle environment.
