East India Company ist leider eines der schwächeren Spiele von Paradox, denn es macht nur kurzzeitig Spaß. Obwohl man jede Menge Kohle scheffeln kann, fühlt man sich keine Sekunde wie ein mächtiger Handelsherr der guten alten Tage. Dazu gibt es schlicht zu wenig zu tun, insbesondere kann man sein Geld nicht in Macht ummünzen. Man kann von einen paar Standardbauten abgesehen keine Schlösser errichten. Titel oder Ländereien kann man sich wie bei Fugger auch nicht kaufen. Die von Empire: Total War kopierten Seekriege sind stark versimpelt, laufen teils automatisch ab und sind ebenso leicht zu gewinnen. Glücklicherweise muss man nicht oft kämpfen. Immer nur größere Schiffe versenden reicht aber auf Dauer nicht für die strategische Motivation; zudem gibt es kaum Veränderungen innerhalb der Welt, obwohl man 150 Jahre spielen kann. Die Jahrzehnte verstreichen und es tut sich zu wenig. Weder wechseln die Geschmäcker noch entstehen neue Häfen oder Produktionen, denn im ganzen Spiel gibt es keine Manufakturen. Auch nach langer Zeit schippert man immer noch Tee von Indien in seinen Heimathafen und macht einen guten Schnitt dabei. Die dafür eingeheimsten Erfolgsmeldungen können einen auch nicht bei Stange halten, da es viel zu leicht ist, sie zu erringen. Man muss nur warten, bis man wieder eine virtuelle Plakette erhält. Das bisweilen unhistorische und billig anmutende Handelsspiel ist sein Geld leider nicht wert.

Hach, das tut mal gut! Keine Schleicheinlagen, keine Deckung, keine Lüftungsschächte und keine wehenden Stars and Stripes bei traurigen Trompeten-Soli. Wolfenstein ist erfrischend simple Shooteraction mit viel Offensiv-Krawumms im Stile von Serious Sam: Scheiß auf die Ballistik, Standardegner gehen auch nach einem Treffer aus gefühlten zwei Kilometern zuverlässig zu Boden – ja, es ist hohl, aber auf fröhliche Weise hohl. Jedenfalls hätte ich nach dem Probespiel vor drei Monaten nicht damit gerechnet, dass ich jetzt zum Test so breit grinsen würde. Aber dieser Segen ist natürlich auch gleichzeitig Fluch: Wolfenstein ist ein reiner Shooter ohne weitere Ansprüche, mit dumpfer Gegner-KI und einer Story, die bestenfalls nicht der Rede wert ist – das mag mittlerweile vielleicht zu wenig sein. Davon abgesehen haben es die Entwickler meiner Meinung nach auch mit der Schleier-Stärke übertrieben: Das Ding zu verlassen ist eigentlich kaum mal nötig, es bietet viel zu viele offensichtliche Vorteile. Doch wenn man bereit ist, das Gehirn gegen das Gamepad bzw. die Tastatur zu tauschen, dann erwartet einen ein Spiel wie ein guter B-Film: Sieht nicht besonders doll aus, ist irgendwie doof und veraltet – macht aber Spaß und ist eine schöne Abwechslung zu all den

De par plusieurs partis pris bancals Cursed Mountain ne partait pas gagnant. Lent, redondant et finalement tout sauf original, le jeu réussit toutefois à nous retenir via une ambiance assumée synonyme d'hallucinations, véritable frontière entre le rêve et la réalité. Malheureusement, ce concept aurait pu être bien mieux maîtrisé puisqu'en l'état, il ne sert finalement qu'à introduire des combats qui se ressemblent tous, des énigmes datées et des phases d'exploration poussives.

Da schaut man aus dem Tal der gewöhnlichen Schauplätze auf den Himalaya und denkt sich: Hey, Survival-Horror in der Welt der Achttausender? Das ist endlich mal eine frische Aussicht, also nichts wie rauf! Und die ersten Schritte versprechen noch ein tolles Abenteuer – das Team von Sproing hat akribisch recherchiert, erfreut sowohl mit architektonischer als auch religiöser Authentizität. Wer sich für Buddhismus und Tibet interessiert, wird sich hier von der Statue bis zum Bestattungsritual zuhause fühlen. Aber man wollte ja keinen Touristen-, sondern einen Horror-Trip inszenieren. Und daran scheitern die Österreicher, denn die Dramaturgie ist keine spirituelle Erleuchtung, sondern eine virtuelle Enttäuschung. Auf dem Weg in diese erhoffte Spielspaßhöhe geht einem sehr schnell die Motivationsluft aus, weil Angst und Nervenkitzel fehlen: Man ist zu früh zu mächtig, man schießt Geister einfach ab, man klettert wie auf sicheren Schienen, man kann nicht stürzen und sich immer heilen. Aber dieser Geistershooter scheitert nicht nur an seiner auf Dauer eintönigen Kampfmechanik, sondern auch am stupiden Missionsdesign, an künstlichen Streckungen und vor allem fehlenden Erkundungsreizen. Man wird von A nach B geschickt, um Tür C zu öffnen und kann nur auf eine Art mit seiner Umgebung interagieren: Vasen zerdeppern. Man wird beim Klettern nicht gefordert, hat keine Karte und wühlt sich in einem öden Menü durch Texte, die wie Fremdkörper archiviert werden. Und das ist zehn Jahre nach Silent Hill zu wenig. Im Buddhismus geht es ja um die Überwindung des elenden Daseins. Dieser Höhentrip sorgt eher für eine Verlängerung, denn hier werden bestimmte Grundsätze guten Spieldesigns und vor allem jene des Spannungsaufbaus ignoriert. Der mysteriöse Reiz des Himalaya, den die Entwickler grafisch und akustisch durchaus einfangen, ist spätestens dann verflogen, wenn man sich zum x-ten Mal durch Geister ballert, während einem unsichtbare Wände den Weg versperren. Warum hat man aus diesem interessanten Szenario ein Call of Tibet gemacht? Wer echten Survival-Horror auf Wii erleben will, sollte auf Silent Hill: Shattered Memories warten.

Despite the occasional issue, Cursed Mountain is a fun and sometimes frightening title -- I actually jumped once or twice as I played. The adventure's spooky atmosphere is something I haven't seen before, which is refreshing amidst a genre clogged with games all sporting the same themes. It's a smart tale. I felt compelled to discover what happened to Simmons' lost brother, and the make-up of the world, all logically sewn together, drew me in. But the dated controls and level designs, frequently filled with hidden keys leading to locked doors, are just a little too familiar, if not altogether archaic. For these reasons, the game is sure to appeal to survival horror fans who've never had issues with those aforementioned control or design shortcomings. If you fall into that category, grab your gear and hit the mountain. And if not, you might want to stay indoors this time around.

Tirando le somme The Bigs 2 riesce comunque a strappare una più che meritata sufficienza, grazie ad un gameplay tutto sommato frenetico e divertente e ad un comparto grafico piacevole ed in grado di non sfigurare eccessivamente con produzioni più blasonate e di alto profilo. Complice il prezzo budget a cui viene venduto (The Bigs 2 è infatti disponibile presso tutti i negozi al costo di 29.98 euro) il titolo di 2K può essere consigliato sia a tutti i fan dei giochi sportivi arcade di vecchio stampo, sia agli appassionati del baseball, a patto che riescano a scendere a compromessi con il già citato gameplay.

Spectrobes is a bit of an odd case in the fact that I love most of what the game is doing, but just can’t personally stand the style or characters. It’s all super generic for someone who is admittedly out of the game’s demographic, and who has seen about 100 anime games too many. That all needs to be tossed aside though, as this game is intended for a specific audience, and is a huge success for that audience. Much like how Endless Ocean is an odd – but obviously well made – Wii offering, Spectrobes does a laundry list of things right, so if you fit into that category of gamer (or have family members that do) where trading cards, monster collecting, and endless options for team building and interacting with your squad is something you’re looking for, Spectrobes truly does it better than any game on Wii, and is as close to a full-world Pokemon experience out there as we’ve seen. The story isn’t as gripping or engaging as other more mature RPGs, but the battle mechanic, control, polish, concepts, and depth is all there. Whether this game is your cup of tea is one thing. Despite that, however, there’s no denying that it’s a well made, impressive experience. Disney has truly done Pokemon better than Nintendo as far as Wii is concerned. If the series can now step away from it’s obvious “me too” feeling and age up slightly it could be a serious contender not just for the younger crowd, but for all action-RPG fans.

Watchmen: The End is Nigh Part 2 isn't as exciting as the first episode, and that one wasn't exactly a smash hit to begin with. The story feels less fleshed out and the combat is as uninspired as ever. If you enjoyed endlessly and mindlessly beating up the same small handful of foes in the first episode, there's more waiting for you here. Might I suggest getting a hobby instead?

All-in-all Draft Combine’s greatest asset is its ability to deliver a small taste of NBA 2K10 gameplay and it gives you a head start on creating your baller for use in My Player mode. Its lifespan is pretty limited, but with a five-dollar asking price that’s to be expected. If you’re a diehard basketball fan who’s itching to upload their created player to 2K’s servers in anticipation of October 6, I’d say go out and download this game. But if you’re a casual basketball fan, go ahead and wait for the genuine article to hit store shelves.

Dopo ben due anni dalla release giapponese - il titolo originale è Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida - finalmente l'atipico strategico bidimensionale sviluppato da Acquire giunge in occidente. Lo stile della produzione è unico, grazie ad un riuscito mix tra ironia e tributo verso i classici giochi di ruolo del passato. Qualche difetto è comunque riscontrabile nel sonoro poco incisivo e in un livello di difficoltà forse troppo elevato, che metterà a dura prova anche il più coriaceo dei videogiocatori. In definitiva l'offerta ludica del titolo si rivela pienamente soddisfacente e longeva per il giocatore che ama la sfida seria e per chi voglia fare un tuffo nel passato, decisamente meno appetibile per l'utenza più giovane o per chi cerca una partitella senza troppi pensieri. Un titolo per veri duri.

I'm not sure why this add-on was ever released. Nearly two years after we were regaled by BioWare with the idea of a constantly expanding Mass Effect universe through downloadable additions, we've now born witness to a grand total of two underwhelming expansions. Pinnacle Station is uninspired, poorly constructed, and offers none of what made Mass Effect a great game in the first place. Skip this, lest you want to sully your anticipation for Mass Effect 2. That's all Pinnacle Station has done for me.
