On peut vous révéler le pot aux roses : The Legend of Kage 2 est la suite d'un jeu d'arcade sorti en 1984. Si Taito a bel et bien dépoussiéré sa licence pour l'occasion, le jeu reste tout de même très classique dans le fond comme dans sa forme. Proposant une aventure courte et un gameplay old-school, The Legend of Kage 2 reste donc avant tout destiné aux nostalgiques des jeux d'arcade d'antan.

Firstly, I like survival horror games. In my opinion creeping down pitch black, dark industrial corridors filled with gibbering freaks is a pretty good way to unwind, so it is nice to see Condemned 2 delivering on these grounds.

If you are starting a 32X collection, Virtua Racing Deluxe should be one of your first three "gets." It's not hard to be one of the best 32X games since so many were poor, but Virtua Racing Deluxe is a good racer in any company. (SEGA really knew how to create racing games back in the proverbial day.) Plus, it's a great artifact from the transition between not just 2D and 3D, but the 16-bit generation and the 32-bit machines.

I was first introduced to the Condemned series after playing the recently released sequel and decided to find the original, which many claim is a superior title. Condemned: Criminal Origins is now surprisingly old and was amongst the Xbox 360 launch games but largely manages to avoid the curse of becoming a forgotten curiosity.

FaceBreaker K.O. Party is a pretty entertaining Wii game, if not for the fact that it's just too basic for hardcore gamers to really get into. Oftentimes we hear readers wondering about the score comparisons between Wii and 360 or PS3 games, and while it's often a real "apples to oranges" philosophy, the fact that K.O. Party is so similar to the other next-gen offerings on 360 and PS3 really helps FaceBreaker's case. This design was meant for Wii - it's fast, simple, has just a bit of depth so hardcore gamers can have some fun with it, but is ultimately a title anyone can pick up and swing away with - so while the hardest of the hardcore fans on the other systems may not want to touch it in favor of the more realistic, strategic Fight Night: Round 3, FaceBreaker is a pretty solid Wii title despite it's flaws. Wii is all about grabbing a group of family or friends and having a blast, and while FaceBreaker has enough cheap AI tactics and random "strategy vs. waggle-fest" face-offs that don't always favor the smarter player, it is good fun when trying to live up to its "K.O. Party" name spin-off. It's a slick looking game, can be great for any type of gamer against each other, but won't ever push into that upper-tier of must-have, must-play titles on Wii. If it's about being a party game, FaceBreaker succeeds, but is shallow in a "mindless fun" kind of way. If it's about making a competitive, in-depth boxing/fighting game that truly catches the "gamer" crowd, it'll take more balance next time around.

Team Fortress 2 is art. A quick look at the definition of art gives the following: "The conscious production or arrangement of sounds, colours, forms, movements, or other elements in a manner that affects the sense of beauty," In short, Team Fortress 2 is simply astonishing in all of these areas.

I remember the first time I heard about Guitar Hero. Two of my friends were busy having a pretty serious argument about whether or not one of them could really play Bark at the Moon behind his head whilst blindfolded.

Sebbene non privo di difetti capaci, nel caso dell'inadeguatezza dell'IA, di minare il gameplay e la longevità, Moto GP 08 si presenta come il miglior episodio della serie per quanto concerne la next generation. Il titolo è inoltre una chiara dimostrazione della versatilità del team Mileston, capace di accontentare -anche se con riserva- sia i puristi della simulazione che i meno smaliziati in sella ai bolidi a due ruote. Le promesse per un roseo futuro ci sono tutte, per ora accontentiamoci di un prodotto discreto ed alla portata di tutti.

Accessible, bien réalisé et drôle, Facebreaker avait tout pour devenir un bon jeu de boxe sur Wii. Las, son gameplay confus et sa difficulté mal dosée le cantonnent au rôle de défouloir sans prétentions. Dommage.

Der Schwierigkeitsgrad ist auch auf Wii immer wieder bestialisch hoch, doch vor allem mit zwei oder mehr Spielern ist Facebreaker K.O.-Party für eine kleine Boxrunde zwischendurch immer wieder gut – was vor allem daran liegt, dass das Rumwedeln mit Remote und Nunchuk einfach mehr Spaß macht als das Rumdrücken auf einem Standard-Controller und dabei sogar ziemlich gut und präzise funktioniert – was angesichts der sehr oberflächlichen Steuerungsmöglichkeiten ohne komplexe Kombos aber auch keine große Kunst ist. Aber warum bekommt der Comic-Arcade-Boxer dann trotzdem eine schlechtere Wertung als auf der 360 und PS3? Zum einen, weil man es immer noch nicht kapiert hat, dass der Schwierigkeitsgrad einen Tick zu hoch angesetzt ist, damit für unnötigen Frust sorgt und der Umfang immer noch schwer zu wünschen übrig lässt. Zum anderen aber auch deshalb, weil man die Community-Features komplett über Bord geschmissen und dabei auch gleich noch den Editor geopfert hat, mit dem man sich auf Wii ebenfalls hätte eingehend beschäftigen und so weitere Figuren basteln können.

Golden Axe: Beast Rider è un gioco che riesce nella rara impresa di essere gravemente insufficiente sotto ogni punto di vista, da quello tecnico a quello ludico, passando per una longevità che a stento arriva alle 6 ore complessive (sempre che abbiate la forza per spingervi così avanti). Davvero non riusciamo a capire perché SEGA continui imperterrita ad affidare a studi esterni i suoi “gioielli della corona”, anziché predisporre un piano serio per il loro rilancio. In definitiva non ci sentiamo di consigliare questo pessimo, prodotto a nessuno. Tantomeno a chi ha amato gli episodi originali.

It's easy to be jaded about World War II shooters, but Treyarch makes a convincing argument to stay excited with World at War. The game is packed with a deep amount of gameplay to appeal to every type of player, from those who want to experience a gritty single-player campaign to those who like to play with their friends to those who just like to play multiplayer. This is a solid, confident shooter with plenty to offer the casual and hardcore alike.

“Quantum of Solace” rispecchia in pieno quello che rappresenta la nuova incarnazione cinematografica di 007 rispetto al suo passato: meno effimere sottigliezze e più solida concretezza. I difetti di questo titolo ci sono e sono evidenti: un comparto tecnico lontano dall’eccellenza di “Call of Duty 4” , con cui comunque condivide il motore grafico (troppe cadute di stile nella qualità delle texture, nelle animazioni), e meccaniche di gioco, oltre che lievemente imitative, infastidite da una interazione ambientale non perfetta. Eppure, nonostante questo, i pregi di 007 emergono nel momento più importante, ovvero quando s’impugna il joypad e si gioca. Si scopre solo puro divertimento, alimentato da una fluidità sempre costante, una grande spettacolarizzazione di stampo cinematografico, un ritmo altissimo e fasi ad alta velocità d’azione alternate a momenti stealth in cui agire nell’ombra. Ed al giocatore rimane comunque la libertà di mantenere l’approccio che preferisce, con la stessa efficacia e naturalezza. Il colpo d’occhio generale della cosmesi è comunque più che buono, con picchi in alcuni frangenti in cui risaltano grazie agli effetti di riflessione e quelli particellari. L'ottimo doppiaggio in italiano si affianca poi alla storica colonna sonora di 007, che accompagna in modo dinamico il giocatore per tutti e 15 i livelli (ed anche nel multiplayer). Uno sparatutto onesto, in definitiva, che anche se non agogna alla gloria eccelsa dei capolavori, fa egregiamente il suo lavoro. E come un Bond caduco, sporco e sanguinante che ha ucciso nemici e fatto uccidere amici pur di raggiungere il suo scopo, alla fine non gli si può che riconoscere un grande merito: missione compiuta.

After finally completing Guitar Hero III and allowing my hand to recover, I desperately needed a new fix for my guitar addiction. Tracking down a copy of Guitar Hero II for the 360 was ideal and the choice of an extra guitar or solo copy was also welcome.
