When the game isn't being cheap, it's actually pretty fun. Unfortunately Red Baron Arcade is built on the die-until-you-get-lucky approach, which simply isn’t good design. The relatively enjoyable parts of the game are marred by cheap artificial intelligence. If the enemy AI wants you dead, you're dead. There's little you can do to avoid death. Red Baron Arcade is like the "Final Destination" of videogames. The only people who should look into this game are diehard dogfight fans who don't mind some major flaws. The rest of us should prep our parachutes.

The Club è un gioco difficilmente classificabile, adatto sia a coloro che sono alla ricerca di un titolo arcade con il quale continuare a sfidare se stessi e i propri record, sia a coloro che cercano un’esperienza multiplayer frenetica e divertente, graziata nel gioco online da un netcode perfetto e offline da una modalità in split screen ben curata. Il problema del gioco è che le due anime del titolo (on e offline) non hanno un amalgama in comune, offrendo due esperienze molto diverse tra loro, ugualmente valide, ma limitate se prese singolarmente. Le modalità in singolo potrebbero annoiare i più a causa della ripetitività delle modalità di gioco e delle ambientazioni e dalla brevità della storia principale, mentre le modalità online non riescono a rivaleggiare in varietà e cura con quelle offerte da altri titoli. Pur con questi difetti The Club centra sicuramente il suo obiettivo principale, quello di essere un gioco immediato e sempre divertente, capace di regalare ore di divertimento a tutti coloro che lo sapranno apprezzare.

Apollo Justice surprised us. This may just be yet another of Capcom’s infamous rehashes, but it’s so much more enjoyable than most that it’s extremely hard to ignore. Going into playing this game expecting nothing but the same old-same old shtick, I was extremely excited when I realized that old and new could be melded so nicely. Capcom appeared to pay attention to their startling trend and tried to do something about it. The gameplay and static looks of Apollo Justice are just as we’ve seen them before, and the music will be both familiar and new, but Apollo Justice retains a lot of the charm Phoenix Wright held before it, and adds to the series' legacy. What's old is new again, and damn good, too.

In the end, Phantasy Star II is an impressive example of classic old-school role-playing. Its most notable positive traits are its unique setting and theme – especially since it's the first and only Phantasy Star game to come to the Virtual Console so far – and its epic overall length. You'll get a lot of lasting value for your investment of 800 Wii Points, as this quest could take you 40 hours or more to complete. The negatives that might keep you from cashing in the eight bucks right away, though, would be the considerable level of challenge and the potential for tedium. Only buy Phantasy Star II if you know you'll be prepared to spend a significant amount of time taking care of old-school RPG "chores" like level-grinding – because without that willingness, your experience in going after the Mother Brain might not last very long.

Ghost Squad è un prodotto inutile. Incapace di soddisfare gli amanti del genere, assolutamente inadeguato ad attirare qualsiasi altro utente, soprattutto a causa della sua inconsueta brevità (la longevità si misura in “decine di minuti”). Non è però un prodotto vuoto. Anzi, in esso respira vivida la forza di un team storico, che ha saputo creare immaginari esemplari per l'industria del videogioco e che già quindici anni fa aveva innestato sulle meccaniche di gioco di un Lihgtgun shooter variazioni ludiche che in molti credono esser state scoperte solo con le recenti produzioni (ebbene no: i QTE non li ha inventati God of War). Sa la volontà di possedere una “testimonianza rediviva” di questo tempo, in cui il game design era vivo e attivo prima del “grande sonno” in cui oggi riposa, vi attira più dell'idea di spendere un sudato gruzzolo per un titolo misero, allora Ghost Squad è un titolo che fa per voi. Se insomma avete deciso di pagare un piccolo indennizzo a Sega per la sua ingloriosa fine, prendete possesso del titolo e sfruttatelo per quel che sa offrire (un pomeriggio). Se anche un solo dubbio vi sfiora, abbiate pazienza e aspettate House of the Dead (più impegnativo e meno caro).

Auf der einen Seite: Rasante Action. Auf der anderen: ein Gamepad. Lassen sich diese beiden so widersprüchlich scheinenden Dinge miteinander kombinieren? Jauser! Es flutscht nicht auf Anhieb wie auf dem PC, aber nach kurzer Einspielzeit, und an dieser Stelle gewinnt die Kampagne ihre Existenzberechtigung, steuern sich Minigun, Flak-Cannon und Hoverboard genauso flüssig wie beim großen Bruder! Die Action geht saftig ab, das Design ist nach wie vor ebenso abgefahren wie detailverliebt – Unreal Tournament 3 ist auch auf der PS3 ein Gewinner. Allerdings hat es auch hier mit Call of Duty 4, Team Fortress 2 und im weitesten Sinne auch Warhawk drei hervorragende Konkurrenten, von denen der Erstgenannte neben einem brillanten Mehrspielermodus auch noch eine ebenso fantastische Solisten-Kampagne bietet. Für Fans klassischer, »konservativer« Deathmatch-Action ist UT3 dennoch eine wunderbare Wahl, denn es bleibt den bewährten Serientraditionen treu. Aber viel mehr gibt es auch nicht.

Dark Messiah of Might & Magic es a todas luces un buen juego de acción y rol, aunque lamentablemente no está exento de ciertos problemas técnicos. Su ambientación, sencillo control, puzles y la progresión casi automática del personaje, lo convierten en un juego ideal tanto para amantes de la acción como para los aficionados a los juegos de rol que ansíen intensas batallas.

Castlevania Symphony of the Night fait partie de ces jeux possédant une âme - un comble pour une aventure dont le personnage central en est exempt - et à ce titre, ne peut que séduire et charmer le joueur. Tous les atouts sont de son côté pour ensorceler celui qui tentera l'aventure et le constat est sans appel : cela marche diablement bien. Si l'envie vous prend, une nuit d'insomnie, de glisser votre UMD dans votre PSP, il y a de fortes chances pour que vous y retourniez. Bonne chance !

FIFA Street 3 seems to be steering the series in the right direction as it’s an improvement over the first two installments. Still, it’s lacking in a few key areas and that’s what keeps it from attaining the glory that other Street games have been able to find. Add a finely crafted career mode and even more depth to the gameplay and more football fans will take notice, but as it stands Street 3 probably doesn’t deserve a spot in your lineup.

Richard Garriott est une icône du jeu vidéo mais la présence d'un seul homme, aussi talentueux soit-il, ne peux pas résoudre tous les problèmes d'une production rassemblant plus d'une centaine de personnes. La patte du maître est perceptible sur certains éléments du jeu comme le système de progression de votre personnage, accessible sans être simpliste. De plus, l'angle sous lequel est abordé le scénario et la présence de quêtes plus intéressantes qu'à l'accoutume aguiche tout amateur de jeu de rôle. Hélas, passer des longues heures à tuer des sangliers mutants reste ennuyeux et si en plus discuter avec sa guilde devient une gageure, le jeu en vaut tout de suite beaucoup moins la chandelle. Tabula Rasareste donc une création mineure de NCSoft avec quelques bonnes idées mais qui ne fait aucune ombre au colossal World of Warcraft ou même à Guild Wars.

Budokai Tenkaichi 3 ist wie seine Vorgänger ein solides und ungemein rasantes Anime-Beat‘em-Up, mit dem sicher nicht nur DragonBall-Fans ihre Freude haben werden. Allerdings hat sich im Vergleich zum Vorgänger nichts wirklich Gravierendes geändert. Gut, es gibt noch mehr Charaktere, noch mehr Moves und sogar neue Spielmodi wie den Online-Modus. Letzterer ist allerdings ein ungemein zweischneidiges Schwert, da auf den Servern zum einen tote Hose herrscht und zum andern die Online-Performance sehr durchwachsen ausfällt. Zudem wirkt nicht alles, was neu ist, auch tatsächlich besser. Vor allem der Story-Modus hat in meinen Augen deutlich Federn gelassen und präsentiert sich wesentlich kompakter und geradliniger. Jüngere Spieler dürften zudem deutsche Sprachausgabe vermissen, obwohl die Wahl zwischen englischer und original japanischer Synchro wiederum sehr vorbildlich ist. Wenig überzeugend gestaltet sich hingegen die teils ziemlich umständliche und zeitaufwändige Steuerung via Remote und Nunchuk. Nur gut, dass man auf diese nicht angewiesen ist und jederzeit zu Classic Controller, GameCube-Pad oder Wavebird greifen darf. Schön auch, dass man seine besten Kämpfe als Replays speichern kann. Neulinge bekommen hier ein ordentliches Gesamtpaket, auch wenn es den nicht minder guten Vorgänger bereits wesentlich günstiger gibt. Veteranen müssen selbst abwägen, ob die wenigen, teils recht zweifelhaften Neuerungen einen Vollpreis wert sind.
