The success of Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed as both a remake and preservation of the original work’s tonal intent is to be admired in some ways. This is a visually appealing, relatively streamlined version of a game pushing twenty that reads as a love letter to fans of the original. It maintains the core thrust of the experience nicely – a sandbox full of colourful chaos and extremely silly concepts. However, in doing so it captures why games like this have aged out of the market. An overly long run of uninteresting missions and painful attempts at comedy make this one strictly for fans of the genre. A decent remake of a game I’d rather never think about again.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection is a must-play title for retro game lovers or turtle fans. Having all these games from all the different consoles in one collection is amazing — so much easier than pulling out and hooking up all the systems!

Simple y llanamente, TMNT The Cowabunga Collection es el nuevo referente dentro de los recopilatorios de videojuegos retro. Tanto por la selección de títulos (muy amplia, con diferentes versiones y cambio de región) como por la descomunal cantidad de extras, todo un ejemplo de preservación. Como dirían las tortugas: este juego está de puta madre.

Una maravilla para el séquito de fans de Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangello y Donatello. 13 juegos en un solo pack, y entre algunos de ellos está alguno de los mejores beat'em up de la historia. Si os apetece echar una tarde retro con olor a pizza, no hay mejor opción.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection è un vero e proprio tuffo nel passato, con ben 13 titoli risalenti ai primi anni ’90, di ottima qualità e con tantissime opzioni per renderli più accessibili anche per i giocatori moderni, senza snaturarne però la componente ludica originale. Oltre alla già sostanziosa offerta videoludica, gli appassionati delle quattro Tartarughe Ninja troveranno all’interno della raccolta una vera e propria enciclopedia piena di curiosità e chicche inedite, tra bozze e sketch per la creazione dei videogiochi e manuali originali dell’epoca. Una collezione indubbiamente di valore per tutti i fan della serie.

It’s been a great year for TMNT fans, and the Cowabunga Collection keeps that ball rolling. For those fans like me, or those coming across from Shredder’s Revenge that are curious about the past, there’s plenty here to enjoy both locally and online despite some of the included titles not exactly setting the world alight. As compilations go, Digital Eclipse again prove they are the best when it comes to delivering quality collections.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection è una raccolta che si rivolge a un pubblico potenzialmente enorme, visto lo straordinario successo riscosso dalle Tartarughe Ninja nei primi anni '90, ma rimane per forza di cose un prodotto che solo i nostalgici potranno davvero apprezzare. I due arcade si pongono come la parte migliore della raccolta, seguiti dalle conversioni per SNES e Mega Drive, mentre il picchiaduro Tournament Fighters oggi come oggi dice poco e gli episodi a 8 bit sono pieni di limitazioni che li rendono difficilmente digeribili.

Une fois de plus, les américains de Digital Eclipse (Mega Man Legacy Collection, Disney Classic Games Collection, Disney Afternoon Collection…) signent une compilation tout bonnement irréprochable, sur le fond comme sur la forme. On y retrouve évidemment les jeux Tortues Ninja d’antan (en version US et JAP) avec ce qu’il faut de modernité (affichage, save state, rembobinage…), sans oublier des bonus à n’en plus finir. A cela s’ajoute un mode online pour quatre jeux, et la possibilité de jouer en local jusqu’à 4 joueurs “comme avant“. Une “simple” compilation donc, mais qui a bénéficié d’un vrai sens du détail et qui transpire la passion (et la nostalgie) par chaque pore de ses écailles. On adore !

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection is a Turtle treasure trove, including every TMNT game released for arcade and console between 1989 and 1993. Having access to all these games in their original format is great for classic Turtles fans and the quality-of-life improvements are there for people who aren’t holding themselves to a purist mentality. The amount of bonus content is impressive for this collection and offers fans a lengthy trip down memory lane. Online and local multiplayer makes it easy to enjoy the beat ’em style game, which is with more than one player. This collection’s inclusion of thirteen games is enough to make it worthwhile, but the inclusion of all the extra content shows that the developers wanted to make this something special for TMNTfans. This collection is great reason to spend an evening ordering pizza and party like it’s 1989.

Davanti all’ennesima retrogaming collection non sappiamo mai se rallegrarci o meno: in questo caso, tuttavia, il sorriso comparso quando si è palesato per la prima volta il trailer d’annuncio non si è mai sopito: per quanto alcuni titoli presenti siano per loro natura un pochino datati, si tratta comunque di titoli godibili, proposti insieme ad alcune perle degli anni ’90 che meritano assolutamente di essere vissute e rivissute. Applaudiamo, inoltre, l’intento di presentare i titoli con tutti i crismi, non limitandosi a infarcire l’antologia di rom senza un contesto ma regalandoci interessanti extra tutti da scoprire e addirittura l’online per alcuni di questi.
