Una conversione eccellente, capace di riproporre su di un hardware limitato tutto il feeling di una serie famosa ed apprezzata in tutto il mondo. La conversione è talmente buona da ereditare, purtroppo, tutte le tare (spesso strutturali) delle sue controparti maggiori. Questo nulla toglie alla qualità finale del titolo, perfettamente godibile, grazie anche ad un compromesso nello schema dei controlli che, se all’inizio lascia disorientati, permette con un po’ di pratica di padroneggiare alla perfezione il basket videoludico. Chi ha apprezzato le precedenti incarnazioni del NBA firmata Electronics Arts non potrà che amare questa versione portatile. Tutti gli altri farebbero meglio a testare con il noleggio un titolo che, proprio perché ibrido fra arcade e simulazione, potrebbe frustare i nuovi utenti. Consigliato in virtù della sua completezza e dell’ottima realizzazione tecnica.

Auch wenn Genji kein Onimusha-Klon sein will, haben die beiden Spiele doch eine Menge gemeinsam. Man merkt einfach, dass Studioleiter Yoshiki Okamoto lange Zeit für Capcom tätig war. Das ist aber nicht unbedingt schlecht, da das intuitive Gameplay und die üppige Präsentation Genji gut zu Gesicht stehen, während das elegante und sehr stylische Kontersystem für eine gewisse Eigenständigkeit sorgt. Allerdings triefen Story, Charaktere und Dialoge fast schon Brechreiz erregend vor Pathos, Schmalz und Klischees, während gerade die englische Synchro einfach nur albern wirkt. Zudem ist das Abenteuer recht kurz geraten und gibt sich trotz zwei recht unterschiedlicher Charaktere äußerst uniform und linear. Dadurch schmeckt das spätere Gegner- und Level-Recycling trotz stimmungsvoller Schauplätze besonders bitter. Dennoch macht es eine Menge Spaß, sich mit Yoshitsune und Benkei durch die Gegnerhorden zu schnetzeln, nach verborgenen Items Ausschau zu halten, exklusive Waffen anzufertigen, Erfahrungspunkte zu scheffeln und mit gut getimten Kontern selbst mächtige Bossgegner in die Knie zu zwingen. Für höhere Wertungsregionen wird aber einfach zu wenig Abwechslung, Umfang und Erzählkunst geboten.

Call of Duty 2 : Big Red One will more than likely be the final version of this well-respected title for the Xbox. While it probably uses everything the aging Xbox platform has to offer, and it corrects at least some of the complaints from the previous version, it can't compete with the sequels available for the PC and Xbox 360. Perhaps titling it Call of Duty 1.5 would have been more accurate.

Rinnovare un prodotto è sempre un compito pericoloso, soprattutto quando si parla di giochi come Ssx 3. La strada percorsa da Ea in questo Ssx on Tour è coraggiosa: creare un nuovo stile limando qua è là un gameplay riuscito. Ci sentiamo di promuovere ampiamente questa scelta in virtù degli ottimi risultati ottenuti. Il mix di familiarità e novità che ne è uscito, sorprende sia i vecchi appassionati della saga che i novizi, permettendo una fruibilità molto alta. Chi già possiede i precedenti episodi della saga dovrebbe solo riflettere se le novità, soprattutto a livello di presentazione e di contorno, bastano ad un’ulteriore acquisto. Tutto questo sperando che la prossima uscita sia ricca in sostanza come questa è ricca in stile.
