Shadow Labyrinth è un metroidvania molto action, che fa dell'atmosfera e della presenza della pallina gialla i suoi due principali elementi di forza. Le novità virtuose della produzione risultano precisamente nei toni più maturi, in una narrazione a tratti persino angosciante, nonché nella possibilità del protagonista di trasformarsi in un Pac-Man futuristico per affrontare sezioni della mappa di gioco appositamente studiate per stravolgere lo stile di gioco che chiunque si aspetterebbe. L'originalità dell'operazione è indubbia e si gioca tutto nella ricerca del "diverso" all'interno di una formula ampiamente collaudata. Tutto ciò si scontra, tuttavia, con una serie di elementi penalizzanti, pur nel complesso di un metroidvania che funziona e si lascia giocare con piacere dall'inizio all'epilogo: un livello di difficoltà tarato verso il basso rispetto agli standard del genere, boss mai davvero in grado di mettere in difficoltà e che necessitano di poco studio per essere abbattuti, una progressione lineare sufficientemente prevedibile, soluzioni raramente davvero brillanti nell'ideazione degli ambienti e alcune incertezze a livello grafico-stilistico. Complice anche il prezzo di lancio onestissimo, ci sentiamo comunque di dargli una possibilità, ma badate: qui il punto non è se vi piaccia o non vi piaccia Pac-Man, ma se vi interessi il genere metroidvania "semplificato".

Aunque pueda parecer una locura, Bandai logra hacer el más difícil todavía y sacar oro de un corto de animación y un personaje de casi 50 años de edad. Shadow Labyrinth no es para nada revolucionario, pero sí un ejercicio de estilo como pocas veces hemos visto en los videojuegos. Aunque tiene un ritmo algo irregular y unos picos de dificultad que pueden desanimar en lugares puntuales de la aventura, es un juego ambicioso que te tendrá entretenido durante no pocas horas.

La Nintendo más valiente se quita de encima lo fácil de vendernos otro Super Mario para apuntar a una aventura que huele al fontanero pero tiene un sabor completamente distinto. Donkey Kong y Pauline se convierten en una dupla tan divertida como entrañable que demuestra el potencial de Switch 2 y nos enseña que tomando otros caminos también pueden triunfar.

Donkey Kong Bananza is an almighty re-introduction to the world of 3D platforming for DK, and arguably the Switch 2's first absolute must-play. The punching and crashing is a passing novelty that, once you get your fill, quickly becomes just another way of exploring the wonderfully varied and beautifully presented layers.

The leader of the bunch is finally back to kick some tail in Donkey Kong Bananza, a brilliant successor to Super Mario Odyssey and a smashing return for a classic Nintendo character. It was a bold choice to build the Switch 2’s first 3D platformer around Donkey Kong instead of Mario, but it’s proven to be the best decision Nintendo could’ve made. DK’s satisfying, expressive movement and powerful, dynamic abilities create a truly groundbreaking adventure. The ambitious, destructible layers of this underground world are densely packed with satisfying collectibles, abundant charm, and clever challenges that never seem to run out of smart ideas, even long after the credits have rolled. Bananza is a constant crescendo across its 20-hour campaign and beyond, with puzzle-platforming concepts that only grow richer as DK and Pauline dive deeper toward the Planet Core. Every element comes together in complete harmony to create Nintendo’s first Switch 2 masterpiece.

Depuis Super Mario Odyssey, rien n'a changé mais tout est différent, pourrait-on résumer. Nintendo continue de repenser sa formule 3D et Donkey Kong Bananza rend ses lettres de noblesse au gorille, un peu trop délaissé ces dernières années, grâce à un grand collectathon qui rend hommage à l'intégralité de la franchise (ou presque). Oui, c'est bien trop facile durant les premières heures et la maniabilité n'est pas toujours impeccable, mais la bonne humeur cristallisée dans les mécaniques de jeu et la direction artistique surpasse amplement les agacements passagers. Un shoot de lumière et de couleurs nécessaire pendant cet été morose.

Nintendo a longtemps fait passer le ludique avant la technique et avec sa Nintendo Switch 2 il s’affranchit enfin des nombreuses concessions qu’il a pu faire dans le passé. Drôle, beau, fluide presque en toutes circonstances, brillant dans son level design et dans sa liberté d’approche, Donkey Kong Bananza est une claque et un concentré de dopamine qui stimule et récompense constamment la curiosité du joueur. On ne s’ennuie jamais tant c’est une pochette surprise géante tellement généreuse qu’on peine à en voir le fond et qui parvient à surprendre des heures durant avec des défis et des mini-jeux qui regorgent d’inventivité et de challenge. Avec Donkey Kong Bananza la petite console nomade montre qu’elle a du muscle et la première exclusivité immanquable de la Nintendo Switch 2 c’est bien celle-ci. Mario Odyssey peut lui tirer sa casquette.

Pour cette seconde aventure du gorille en 3D, Nintendo convoque 40 ans de jeux Donkey Kong pour caresser les fans de la première heure dans le sens du poil et faire le pont avec une nouvelle génération de joueurs biberonnée à Minecraft, grâce à un gameplay de destruction intelligent, aux surprises sans cesse renouvelées. Possesseurs de Nintendo Switch 2, vous pouvez avoir la banane, la première killer app de la console est là !

Con Donkey Kong Bananza, Nintendo riprende in mano il suo storico gorillone regalandogli un’avventura dalla grande personalità e dal feeling magari non unico, ma certamente "diverso". Alcuni potranno trovarlo forse troppo facile, soprattutto nelle fasi iniziali, ma è un gioco ricco, lungo, pieno di idee e di attività, curato nei dettagli come forse solo Nintendo sa fare.

College Football 26 is a very good college football video game, but I don’t think it’s a great one; I’m pretty choosy when I use that word. This year’s version walks a little taller, looks a little more toned, and has better footwork than last year’s model. It has put in the work in the off-season, but there’s still more to be done. Proper teaching tools aren’t here yet (for the love of God, EA, please, so my friends can play this game without spending days of their lives on YouTube), and Road to Glory and Dynasty still need meaningful changes. But Dynasty is at least compelling enough, and the on-field game still has it where it counts. You can tell the College Football team is listening, and that it cares. EA has avoided the sophomore slump, but like any college football fan will tell you, you don’t build a Dynasty off a couple good seasons alone. You have to build for the future. College Football 26 is a step in that direction, but EA will have to keep at it if they want this series to be up there with the all-time greats. You’ve got potential, kid, and you’re better than last year. What matters now is if you can take that leap (you know, the one we’re all expecting you to) next season.
