I guess Activision and Fizz didn't listen to Spidey's mantra. With great power comes great responsibility. Unfortunately, there will be little culpability to go along with that. Even Tobey Maguire sounds bored and horrified during most of his cutscenes, even though his part was almost positively done before he ever saw the game. Maybe his Spidey-senses were tingling. I could probably say more bad about the game and go into detail about the bad and some of the "high points" but what's the point. Spider-Man 2 for the PC is a piece of crap. If you want a real Spider-Man 2 game, go pick up one of the console versions. If you don't own a console then consider yourself out of luck. You won't find any amount of web slinging fun that could come close to matching the fun and frolic of the movie. After three hours (if you can make it that far) of crappy controls, mediocre visuals, and boring and generally unimaginative gameplay, you'll actually be glad to have finished the game so you can return it or burn it and move on with your life.

Van Helsing gehört eindeutig zu den besseren Lizenzversoftungen. Da man sich spielerisch sehr nah an Capcoms Devil May Cry orientiert hat, muss man sich zwar gewisse Plagiatsvorwürfe gefallen lassen, aber besser gut geklaut als schlecht selbst ausgedacht. Besonders originell und abwechslungsreich ist das Gameplay zwar nicht, aber die Steuerung ist ungemein handlich, der Spielfluss schnörkellos und die Kameraführung meist vorbildlich. Zudem überzeugen die taktische Waffen- und Munitionswahl sowie die individuellen Upgrade-Möglichkeiten. Gelegenheitsspieler werden sich auch über das faire Speicher- und Rücksetzsystem sowie die komfortable Zielerfassung und den variablen Schwierigkeitsgrad freuen. Weniger erfreulich sind hingegen die altbackenen Rätseleinlagen, die sich wiederholenden Spielabschnitte und Bosskämpfe sowie der viel zu geringe Spielumfang, denn nach weniger als fünf Stunden waren Dracula & Co auf dem normalen Schwierigkeitsgrad bereits Geschichte, während Hardcore-Zocker laut Xbox-Live-Tabellen sogar bereits Spielzeiten von unter einer halben Stunde erreicht haben…

A son crédit, Spider-Man 2 a ses déplacements en toile fabuleux qui sont un petit bonheur vu le plaisir certain qu'on éprouve en se laissant tomber du haut d'un immeuble, ses combos variées et nombreuses et un caractère assez addicitif. Mais contre lui, il a sa réalisation en dents de scie tendance très moyen, des missions ultra redondantes pour rester poli, des combats trop simples ou trop prise de tête etc. Bref, un fourre-tout de qualités et de défauts. Indispensable pour les fans, moins pour les autres. Avec plus de soins et surtout une bonne dose d'inspiration dans ses missions, le soft aurait eu de quoi faire date. Là... il a ses promenades en toile.

Silent Hill ist euch zu krank? Resident Evil zu altmodisch? Und Project Zero zu schrecklich? Dann ist Obscure eine lohnenswerte Alternative. Das Team von Hydrovision setzt zwar mit seinem Highschool-Szenario auf bekannte Klischees und kann eher Survival-Horror light als ein wirklich beängstigendes Schockergefühl entfachen, aber dafür spielt sich die Monsterjagd sehr komfortabel: Egal ob Karte, Itemsuche, Laufwege oder Charakterwechsel – Frust ist Fehlanzeige. Die Kämpfe laufen flüssig, die Rätsel sind abwechslungsreich, die Erfolgskurve angenehm. Auch die Grafik stimmt und kann mit ihren Verdunklungseffekten ein kleines Highlight setzen. Und dass man das düstere Abenteuer auch bei freier Figurenwahl bequem zu zweit erleben kann, ist nicht nur innovativ, sondern prädestiniert Obscure zum idealen Partnerspiel. Allerdings fordern der Allround-Service und die strenge Linearität ihren Preis: Viele Knobeleien sind zu leicht, erzählerisch wird wenig Anspruchsvolles geboten, manche Monsterbegegnungen wirken etwas plump und mehr als ein halbes Dutzend Stunden werdet ihr nicht durch die Flure geistern.
