Véritable lettre d’amour aux shooters des années 90, et plus spécifiquement ceux de id Software, Prodeus n’a pas à rougir face à ses aînés. Il se dote en effet d’une réalisation au look rétro particulièrement convaincante, d’un level design de génie, et de sensations manette en mains tout bonnement jubilatoires. Le tout est servi avec un contenu très solide. À moins de vingt euros, les amoureux du Fast-FPS auraient bien tort de se priver !

No More Heroes III is a pleasant sendoff for Travis Touchdown – especially so now that it’s no longer stuck on hardware that couldn’t keep up with it. The lack of performance problems make it so much easier to enjoy its wide variety of combat encounters, eclectic minigames, and zany story sequences. It comes at the cost of its other flaws becoming more pronounced, but it’s still a brash and daring passion project from a Grasshopper Manufacture that continues to do whatever it desires.

No More Heroes III caters to a niche segment of gamers. Because of how well it embraces its absurdity, it’s a title not easily digested by everyone, but this is a must play for fans of Grasshopper Manufacture’s unusual approach to world building. Conventional battles are interspersed with unusual side job minigames to bring variety to the gameplay, even if mowing lawns to raise money for ranked assassin fights feels shoehorned into the plot. No More Heroes III’s quicker loading times and sharper graphics on PS5 are a welcome upgrade of the Switch version, but there are no other improvements or additional content to make a strong case to get this version if the original release is in one’s game library.

NieR:Automata is a modern classic. Most importantly for Switch owners, this is a top-notch port that has clearly been produced with respect and focus, often surpassing our expectations in both visuals and performance. Finding a comfortable seat and a pair of headphones makes the Switch version a wonderful way to experience the game, and it is an unforgettable journey. Nothing is as it seems, either in the story or gameplay, and it's one of the finest gaming achievements of the last decade. If you haven't played NieR:Automata yet, now is a great time.

Auteur designer Yoko Taro successfully blends his oddball knack for storytelling, defying typical video game conventions in doing so. This leads to an unforgettable story, but how it's told and demands repeat playthroughs is bound to be lost on some part of NieR: Automata's audience. Regardless, NieR: Automata blends intense action and RPG components into an atmosphere and game that's well worth experiencing, even on the Nintendo Switch.

C'erano tutti gli ingredienti affinché Valkyrie Elysium rappresentasse il chiodo finale sulla bara di un franchise morente, assente della scene da troppo tempo: un budget tutt'altro che stellare, un team di sviluppo certamente talentuoso ma poco esperto con titoli di alto livello e uno iato totale con il passato, tanto a livello narrativo quanto di gameplay. E invece, grazie soprattutto ad un sistema di combattimento di ottima fattura, il prodotto Soleil si lascia giocare con piacere, con ritmi frenetici, combo tecniche e una grande varietà di approcci possibili alle battaglie. Certo, per goderne a pieno è necessario chiudere un occhio sui problemi tipici delle produzioni dal budget limitato, dal riciclo piuttosto marcato di nemici e mappe alla vuotezza delle ambientazioni, ma quanto c'è di buono sopravanza a nostro avviso quanto manca, e con questo episodio si sono gettate le basi per un ritorno del franchise in grande stile. L'unica condizione è che sia la stessa Square Enix a crederci davvero e a stanziare fondi più ingenti per un eventuale secondo capitolo.

While my major issues with the game’s writing, tone, and design remain unchanged, the PC port of No More Heroes 3 shines without the constraints of the Switch. The open world is very unoptimized, but if you have enough hardware to throw at it performance is far more acceptable. The game works great on Steam Deck too, letting you experience the alien murder fest wherever you go in gorgeous quality.

Il team di sviluppo Alblune realizza un'avventura pacata e serena nei panni di una topolina coraggiosa, in cui l'esplorazione è strumento per veicolare un messaggio di altruismo e solidarietà. Sebbene i titoli di coda arrivino un po' presto, il consiglio è di prendersi una pausa dal trambusto moderno e rifugiarsi nella serenità offerta da The Spirit and the Mouse.
